Gr 3 / 4 have finished their cooking program and next week Rosie Romano will start classes with Gr 2 / 3. Anzac Day March Thank you to those families who attended our local service. We were very well represented and the children did a great job as it was cold and wet. We enjoyed hot chips together on Wednesday as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for being good community people. Working Bee Saturday We have some great plans for the front of the school. This Saturday at 8am we are meeting to remove some trees and plants from the front of the Parish Centre. If you have a chainsaw, trailer or any gardening tools, could you please bring them with you. Also, if you have any tip passes that you may not use, we would appreciate them. Please feel especially welcome to join us. Catholic Education Week Catholic Education Week is about celebrating what is distinctive about our schools and promoting our great work in acting out God’s Reign. This week coming, we are celebrating Catholic Education Week. Ms O’Connell, Mrs Sanchez, Mrs Balfour and myself will celebrate Mass tonight with our Bishop and then attend a dinner in Traralgon. On Wednesday all our teachers will celebrate Mass in Warragul with our neighbouring catholic schools (St Joseph’s Warragul, St Ita’s Drouin, Columbia P.S.Bunyip & Marist-Sion Secondary College Warragul). We will also have dinner together. On Thursday May 4 th the staff will host a special morning tea for our Gr 6 leaders in the Mary MacKillop Room, this is about promoting positive partnerships together. Our assembly next week will be about Catholic Education. Our Diocese has also printed some special posters with some of our children on them, they are on display in the Mary MacKillop Room. District Athletics Sports were postponed from Wednesday 26th to this coming Wednesday May 3 rd . The same plans are in place for this Wednesday, Miss Ryan and Mrs Skellern (our new Learning Support Officer) will be accompanying the children in our team. Thank you to Liza Marino and Taryn Maxwell-Garratt for organising all of this. Eucharist Some children in Grade 4 are preparing for and celebrating the Sacrament of Eucharist (First Holy Communion). Last night the parents of the candidates met with Fr Bernie and we talked about what the Eucharist means at an adult level. We talked about how we could help our children to understand this special Sacrament. The expectation of the program is attendance at the parent meeting and the parent/child workshop and attendance at, at least 3 weekend teaching masses. We pray for the following students and their families who are preparing for the Eucharist: Rheanna Dunston, Thomas Griffiths, Sheridan Jacobs, Sienna Jonas and Hannah Upston. May you always know God’s deep love. Safety Our School’s Code of Conduct clearly outlines what is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour in our school. As part of our normal operations, everyone in our school needs to sign a register at the front office to say that they have read our Code of Conduct and that they will abide by it. You only have to sign the register once. All visitors to our school need to sign this registry upon entry to our school. It is part of the Safety Standards outlined in Ministerial Order 870 and all schools need to abide by it. Noah’s Ark

When parents get together, they can learn from each other’s experiences and ideas. In the professional world, this is called ‘lived experience’. It is what you do every day. Connecting with other parents in small groups to share information and ideas as well as having a quiet cuppa in a relaxed setting can be a great way to learn new things, connect with other parents and relax for a short time. With this in mind, Parent To Parent Gippsland is setting up new Parent To Parent groups for parents of children with developmental delay or disability aged birth – 18 years. These groups will meet in Sale, Yarram, Warragul and Leongatha. They will be facilitated groups. They will be for you and limited to 6 participants each. See attached to this newsletter the list of new and existing services available through Parent To Parent Gippsland including news about the new groups.
