Well, we are still home – we are adjusting to a new ‘normal’

Our domestic Church is growing strong -- Please let’s continue to pray for one another.

How to stay involved in your faith at home: Talk about it! Now is a great time to have open discussions within our family about our Catholic Beliefs. Read your child’s textbook – do some of the family activities, pray before meals, acknowledge Christ in each day. Most of all ……….

Take this time of quarantine and social distance to appreciate the special time we now have together.

Have an example of Faith in your home? --- send in a picture to [email protected]

And we will post it on the website. Let’s share our successes!

Moms - looking to be connected to other Moms trying to keep faith alive at home… send an email and we will send you a link to a Monday Night Zoom Meeting!

Looking for something special? On Line Classes – On Line prayer groups and support groups? All Ages!

We have resources, but do not want anyone to feel overwhelmed, so please continue to check the Parish Website – and FB page – Email us with any questions or concerns.

Special thanks to Jack for his Eagle Scout Project and supplying our Social Ministry with bicycles for those in need.

And thank you to Jen, Gabby & Sofia for sending wonderful notes of encouragement to our Nursing Home heroes! We know there are many more helping others –

Outreach continues to get donations, seniors have others help with their grocery shopping, and so much more!

The Church truly is alive in our Community!

Volunteers Gratitude

Volunteers have the most amazing superpower of all. When they touch one person, They touch them all.

The most sincere thanks to all Parish Outreach workers for their dedication and courage, putting their own health at risk to provide the basic necessities to those in need during this difficult time that we face throughout this COVID-19 pandemic.

Likewise, thanks to the Thrift shop ladies, the members of St. Vincent de Paul, and the Knights of Columbus for all the cleaning they did when we had the flood..

Thanks to all of you for always responding to our emergency requests. Your help allows us to offer a ‘safe haven’ in this difficult time. Without a doubt, we are very blessed.

“A volunteer is a little pencil in the hand of God, who is writing a love letter for the world.” ~Mother Teresa

THE NEW NORMAL—VOLUME IV

We all acknowledge the real heroes in the current battle are the medical staffs, first responders, and any person who is dealing with those compromised by the COVID-19 virus. It should not come as any real surprise, however, as these caregivers, especially those who deal with the elderly, possess the critical skills, the perfect temperament, and the compassionate ear for those whose lives are in the late innings. Warm feelings often develop which stay with these trained professionals long after their service is completed.

Such was the case with Maggie, a visiting nurse who weekly examined my friend, Fr. Tom. Well into his 80s when he passed away in November 2018, Tom spent his final months in the care of his two nieces on the Jersey Shore, where Maggie would stop by to monitor his health. As a sign of her affection for Fr. Tom and his family, Maggie brought an orchid to the family home after the burial. While Tom’s nieces were exceptional in the daily care they gave him, such could not be said for their treatment of the orchid. It slowly withered, the victim of far too generous watering. Because of its sentimental value, however, the nieces could not get rid of it. They found a Campus Ministry sticker Tom had in his desk, a holdover from his days as a college chaplain, and stuck it on the pot, thinking, perhaps, his spirit might do better.

Soon after Ash Wednesday, well over a year since it withered and still without attention, the orchid bloomed.

Some of us are feeling quite abandoned these days. The lack of interaction with others, the elevated sense of uncertainty, the frustration of being collectively helpless…all these and many more scenarios have prompted many to look to where God is in all of this and have yet to see Him.

In Scriptures, we are repeatedly promised our loving God is always with us. This is a time when we must trust in this knowledge and ask to feel His presence and for His Grace to see us through this pandemic. Like the apparently ignored orchid, we too shall bloom very soon.
