The Proclamation of the Word

1st Reading from the Book of Lamentations (3 : 22 – 33) Barry Goodwin At the end of the reading, the reader says

Holy Word. Holy Wisdom. All Thanks be to God. Psalm 30 (Sit – said responsively with refrain)

Refrain: In the evening sighs and weeping, in the morning shouts of joy.

1 I will exalt you, O Lord, because you have lifted me up and have not let my enemies triumph over me.

2 O Lord my God, I cried out to you, and you restored me to health.

3 You brought me up, O Lord, from the dead; you restored my life as I was going down to the grave.

4 Sing to the Lord, you servants of God; give thanks for the remembrance of the holiness of God.

5 For the wrath of God endures but the twinkling of an eye, the divine favour for a lifetime. Weeping may spend the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Refrain: In the evening sighs and weeping, in the morning shouts of joy.

6 While I felt secure, I said, “I shall never be disturbed.

7 Lord, with your favour, you made me as strong as the mountains.” Then you hid your face, and I was filled with fear.

8 I cried to you, O Lord; I pleaded with you, saying,

9 “What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you or declare your faithfulness?

10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me; O Lord, be my helper.”

11 You have turned my wailing into dancing; you have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy.

12 Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing; O Lord my God, I will give you thanks for ever.

Refrain: In the evening sighs and weeping, in the morning shouts of joy.

Presider Glory to God, Source of all being, eternal Word and Holy Spirit: All as it was in the beginning, is now and will be for ever. Amen. 2nd Reading from Paul’s 2nd Letter to the Corinthians (8 : 7 – 15) Barry Goodwin Gradual Hymn Lord, whose love in humble service

Lord, whose love in humble service bore the weight of human need who upon the cross, forsaken, worked your mercy’s perfect deed: we, your servants, bring the worship not of voice alone, but heart; consecrating to your purpose every gift which you impart.

As we worship, grant us vision till your love’s revealing light in its height and depth and greatness dawns upon our quickened sight, making known the needs and burdens your compassion bids us bear, stirring us to ardent service, your abundant life to share. The Apostles’ Creed

Presider Let us confess the faith of our baptism, as we say, All I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers of the Community Barry Goodwin Confession and Absolution Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbour.

All Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Presider Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all you sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All Amen. The Peace

Presider The Peace of God be always with you. All And also with you.

Offertory hymn You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, and abide in God’s shadow for life, say to your God: “My refuge, my Rock in whom I trust!”

Refrain “And I will raise you up on eagle’s wings, bear you on the breath of dawn make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of my hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night nor the arrow that flies by day; though thousands fall about you, near you it shall not come. Refrain Text & Music: Ps. 91; para. Michael Joncas (1951 – ). ©1979, 1991 New Dawn Music. Admin. by Oregon Catholic Press

The Celebration of the Eucharist

Prayer over the Gifts

Presider God of wisdom, All receive all we offer you this day.

Enrich our lives with the gifts of your Spirit, that we may follow the way of our Lord Jesus Christ, and serve one another in freedom. We ask this in his name. Amen.

If you know the brokenness of life, its fractures within and its division without, then you have participated in the broken body of Christ and you are invited to share in the breaking of bread.

Presider May God be with you. All And also with you. Presider Lift up your hearts.

All We lift them up to God. Presider Let us give thanks to God our Creator. All It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Presider It is indeed right that we should praise you, gracious God, for you created all things and formed us in your own image. When we turned away from you in sin, you did not cease to care for us, but opened a path of salvation for all people. You made a covenant with Israel, and through your servants Abraham and Sarah gave the promise of a blessing to all nations. Through Moses you led your people from bondage into freedom; through the prophets you renewed your promise of salvation.

Page 7: St Clement’s Anglican Church

7

Therefore, with them, and with all your saints who have served you in every age, we give thanks and raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.

Sanctus All Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Presider Holy God, source of life and goodness, all creation rightly gives you praise. In the fullness of time, you sent your Son Jesus Christ, to share our human nature, to live and die as one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. He healed the sick and ate and drank with outcasts and sinners; he opened the eyes of the blind and proclaimed the good news of your kingdom to the poor and to those in need. In all things he fulfilled your gracious will.

On the night he freely gave himself to death, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread, and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me."

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Gracious God, his perfect sacrifice destroys the power of sin and death; by raising him to life you give us life for evermore.

Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith.

All Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Presider Recalling his death, proclaiming his resurrection, and looking for his coming again in glory, we offer you, Father, this bread and this cup. Send your Holy

Spirit upon us and upon these gifts, that all who eat and drink at this table may be one body and one holy people, a living sacrifice in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours, almighty Father, now and for ever. All Amen. The Lord’s Prayer

Presider Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us pray as our Saviour taught us, in the language closest to your heart,

All Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

Presider We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. All We, being many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread. The Communion

Community Announcements Closing Hymn We cannot measure how you heal

We cannot measure how you heal or answer every sufferer’s prayer, yet we believe your grace responds where faith and doubt unite to care. Your hands, though bloodied on the cross, survive to hold and heal and warn, To carry all through death to life and cradle children yet unborn.

So some have come who need your help and some have come to make amends,

as hands which shaped and saved the world are present in the touch of friends. Lord, let your Spirit meet us here to mend the body, mind and soul, to disentangle peace from pain and make your broken people whole.
