DONATIONS

O nce again, sincere thanks is expressed for a number of donations received by the parish in recent days.

These include €1000.00 towards parish and Kilkelly Church Roof, €200.00 and €100.00 towards the costs associated with works carried out on Kilkelly Church roof. Your kindness is very much appreciated and has been a particular help at this time. Also happy to report that our Insurance Company, Allianz, has made €5500.00 available to us towards repairs associated with Kilkelly Church roof. This too is a tremendous help and, to date, between donations and funds from our regular parish contributions, we are well on the way to paying in full for the works carried out.

From our new bishop

D ear Friends, Greetings from Ballaghaderreen! I moved here last weekend and am currently in the “settling in” process of

trying to find items in boxes that are strewn all over the house! It all takes time. It has been an extraordinary year with many twists and turns along the way! Despite all that, the day is now upon us where I will be ordained Bishop on Sunday afternoon in the Cathedral. The ceremony will be very different from what we had initially planned, mainly because of the current restrictions that need to be observed for safety reasons. However, I know many of you will be joining us “virtually” at 3pm on achonrydiocese.org. Over the coming weeks, I look forward to travelling around the Diocese to meet as many of you as I can. Thank you so much for the kind and hospitable welcome I’ve received in recent months. I know many of you have been praying for me which is deeply appreciated. Please be assured of my prayers for you at this time also. May the Lord continue to guide us as we “launch out into the deep” and begin this new chapter in the life of our Diocese. With warm wishes and every blessing, Bishop-Elect Paul.

EPISCOPAL ORDINATION

I n keeping with NPHET and Government guidelines, a small number will attend this Sunday’s Ordination. Some

of Fr Paul’s own family, based in New Jersey, as well as many ofhis friends are not able to attend. The ceremony will be livestreamed on achonrydiocsese org Please join if you are free to do so and ask God’s blessing on our new bishop. As mentioned, it is his intention to visit our parishes for Mass in the coming weeks and we look forward to welcoming him when that day comes.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

A s we enter the month of September it might be a good time to look at reintroducing some time for Eucharistic Adoration. If this happens it will have to be in a setting that allows for Social Distancing etc. Those who have

already committed to an hour’s adoration, might give this some thought during the week and let me know your thoughts. How best can we do this, ensuring safety and also allowing space for this valued prayer form in our parish? Your thoughts please!

COURSE AVAILABLE HEALTH SERVICE SKILLS (5M3782) QQI Level 5 commencing Thursday 24th September at 9.30am. It will continue every Thursday. PRAYERS WITH SCHOOL

D uring the week, I am hoping to contact the three schools with a view to having a short Service

of Prayer. Here we will seek God’s blessing on staff, pupils and the wider school community. The hope is that this will be done via our parish webcam and that each room can “tune-in”. If this is happening, you are all welcome to join us in prayer as well. The schools will let you know.
