Dear Parishioners, In the Gospel reading of this Sunday, Jesus says, “The Father and I are one.” This is one of the mysteries of our faith; the relationship between the Father and the Son. The relationship

does not mean that they think alike, are like minded or there is a deep communion between them. The Son or Jesus is the revelation of the Father. God revealed himself through Jesus. Jesus is the face of the Father. And that is why Jesus said, “The Father and I are one.” Then, what is our relationship with Jesus? Jesus said, “I am the vine and you are the branches.” These words of Jesus tell us of our deep communion and relationship with Christ. The saints and mystics through the ages have tried to draw us back to this depth of our Faith. We are part of the mystical body of Christ. St. Paul wrote, "Christ is the head of the body, the church" (Colossians 1: 18) Spiritual fathers have used a Latin expression, ‘alter Christus’ meaning ‘another Christ.’ This is who we are. This is our true identity, being ‘another Christ.’

Yours Sincerely, Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor

Loving and Generous God, it is You who call us by name and ask us to follow You. Help us to grow in the Love and Service of our Church as

we experience it today. Give us the energy and courage of Your Spirit to shape its future. Grant us faith-filled leaders who will embrace Christ's Mission of love and justice. Bless the Church of St. Anselm by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our families and friends who will serve Your people as Sisters, Priests, Brothers, Deacons and Lay Ministers. Inspire us to know You better and open our hearts to hear Your call. We ask this through our Lord.

At our Confirmation Mass on May 12th , one of the hymns sung by our adult choir is "Je Vous Salue Marie", the hymn to Mary that Parisians sang as they watched Notre Dame burn last month. The

choir chose this hymn in solidarity with Catholics around the world who honor Notre Dame de Paris and the history of great cathedrals as expressions of love for our triune God.

First Communion For the past year, 46 children from our parish and our parish-school have been preparing for their First Communion. On Saturday May 4th, 44 of the children received Jesus for the first time through the Eucharist. One child received a special blessing, and another had already received the Eucharist in December but was present to support her peers. A special thank you to their teachers: Cassie Keim, Sean Ticknor, Laura Roach, and Connie Sume for walking with these 46 children on their journey of faith. May these children continue to receive the love and support of our community as they grow deeper in their relationship with Christ.

May Crowing In honor of our Blessed Mother, St. Anselm Community honored Mary by crowning her at the 10am mass on Sunday May 5th. Children adored her with flowers and presented her cards. May the month of May be a reminder of our mother’s love and concern for us. May we have the desire to grow in our relationship with her, and may she grant us protection and endless love. Together we ask: Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.
