  • 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

    Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Happy Feast Day of Saint Anne to everyone !!! May our holy patroness Saint Anne

intercede for our parish family. May she bring to our families all necessary graces from God. As

a good grandmother of Jesus may she share with us as all grandmothers do, they bring love,

faith and hope. Maybe she will bring into our lives that close knowledge of Christ and personal

    relationship with Him.

In Saint Anne we have a powerful intercessor before Christ. Who better than a grandma

can stand for our interests and needs ??? So to her care we entrust all of our families, our parish and our

    neighborhoods.

The liturgical feast of Saint Anne and Joachim is on July 26, and we have celebrated the Masses in their honor.

This weekend we continue to honor them with our prayers and our family picnic. May all we do bring us joy and

    perception of God‘s love.

As in the Gospel of this Sunday, Jesus moved with compassion for his people, feeds them by multiplying bread

and fish. His attention is both spiritual and physical and he answers to both needs. This is what Jesus does for us every

day if only we open our eyes to see it. So it is for us, that after honoring our patroness with prayers, today we will honor

Saint Anne and God himself with our picnic. I invite you to participate in this fun event. Let our joy be contagious as we

give opportunity to Jesus to multiply our blessings.

To speak about the blessings for families, our bishop wrote a letter in commemoration of 50 years anniversary

of Humane Vitae by Pope Paul VI on contraception in marital relationships and it’s impact on the future of the

families. Please take a copy of the letter home to get familiar with it, so that we all can have a better understanding of

those issues affecting our lives through our culture and family life. Bishop Barres requested of us to preach on the issue,

so that all of us would have an understanding of the dignity of

every human life from conception to natural death, as well as

of the sacredness of marital intimacy and family life. As we

all desire love and respect for our persons, so we have to give

love and respect to every person. What is at stake here is the

integrity of our families, integrity of our society. We all desire

peace and happiness of our homes so we have to secure the

foundations of our family life that come from our profound

respect for God and for the gift of life that God entrusted to

us. Our happiness depends on our realization of God’s plan

for us and for our family.

We all experienced pain and hurts of broken families,

broken relationships, broken marriages, broken hearts,

broken lives. It all goes back to respect for God and for each

other’s dignity as human beings and as a child of God. The

closer we stay to God and his plan, the happier we will be in

    our personal and family life.

Let us celebrate the beauty of family life by our

feasting, and let’s continue to pray and collaborate in

sanctification of our family life so we can reach happiness

so desired by all. God bless everyone always !!!

    Fr. Stan

HAPPY SAINT ANNE’S FEAST !!! See You at the picnic !

Did You get your raffle ticket yet ???

    Blessings !!!

Prayer in Honor of Saint Anne O Glorious St. Anne, you are compassionate toward

those in need who invoke your heavenly interces-

sion. Burdened with life’s difficulties, I place myself

before you, and ask that you assist me with the

petitions and intentions I now recommend to your

special protection. (Here mention your requests.)

Place my concerns before Our Lord Jesus Christ,

and seek the loving aid of your daughter, the

Blessed Virgin Mary. Please continue interceding

for me until my requests are granted.

Above all, obtain for me the grace of one day seeing

Almighty God face to face, with you and Mary and

all the saints, honoring and praising God through

    all eternity.

Pray for us, good St. Anne. That we may be made

worthy of the promises of Christ.

Gracious God, who chose St. Anne to bring into the

world the mother of Your only Son. Mercifully grant

to us who devoutly honor her memory, the grace of

happiness in this life, and the joy of life with You for

    all eternity. Amen.

New Pastoral Letter Commemorates Fiftieth Anniversary of

    Humane Vitae

Fifty years ago, on July 25, 1968, Pope Paul VI issued an Encyclical letter entitled Humanae

Vitae, “On Human Life”. On October 14, 2018, Pope Francis will canonize his prede-

cessor as Pope Saint Paul VI.

In this anniversary year, Bishop John O. Barres of the Diocese of Rockville Centre has issued

a Pastoral Letter entitled The Supreme Gift: The Gift of Life, commemorating the encycli-

cal of this soon-to-be-canonized saint. This teaching of the late Holy Father is in many ways

more important today than at any time before.

In his letter, Bishop Barres wants to teach the people of the diocese the important truths of

Humanae Vitae, because these truths very much need to be reexamined today in light of the

problems we face in our time.

Please take a copy of The Supreme Gift home, read it, and discuss it as married couples and

as families. Bishop Barres says: “Understanding the teaching of Humanae Vitae, believing

it, and living it, is one of the first and most important answers to the crisis of our time. I truly

believe that the future Pope Saint Paul VI wrote the letter more for our times than even for his

own. Today, it can become the first step in repairing the injury between men and women, hus-

bands and wives, parents and children, the family and society.”

At the Mass of Beatification of Pope Paul VI in 2014, Pope Francis said of his

    predecessor:

“When we look to this great Pope, this courageous Christian, this tireless apostle, we cannot

but say in the sight of God a word as simple as it is heartfelt and important: thanks! Thank

You, our dear and beloved Pope Paul VI! Thank you for your humble and prophetic witness of

love for Christ and his Church!... In [his] humility the grandeur of Blessed Paul VI shines

forth: before the advent of a secularized and hostile society, he could hold fast, with farsight-

edness and wisdom—and at times alone—to the helm of the barque of Peter, while never los-

ing his joy and his trust in the Lord.”

Visit drvc.org for an electronic copy in English and Spanish. Thank You.

    Sept 2018

    27 & 29 Lower Church/

    28 Church

Prions avec la St Vierge Marie

    pour l’unification, la Sanctifi-

    cation, et L’émancipation

    De notre communauté en

    disant :Souvenez-vous, ô très

miséricordieuse Vierge Marie, qu'on n'a jamais entendu dire

qu'aucun de ceux qui ont eu

    recours à votre protection,

    implorez votre assistance

ou réclamé votre secours, ait été

    abandonné.

    Animé d'une pareille confiance,

ô Vierge des vierges, ô ma

    Mère,

je cours, je viens à vous et,

gémissant sous le poids de mes

péchés, je me prosterne à vos

    pieds.

    Ô Mère du Verbe incarné,

    ne rejetez pas mes humbles

    prières, mais écoutez-les

    favorablement et daignez les

    exaucer. Amen
