The Sunday after Ascension

I Samuel 12:19-24 After Saul was made king, all the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants

to the Lord your God, that we may not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for ourselves a king.” And Samuel said to the people, “Do not be afraid; you have done all this evil. Yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. And do not turn aside after empty things that cannot profit or deliver, for they are empty. For the Lord will not forsake his people, for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for himself. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and the right way. Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.” Psalm 47:1-9 BCP 398 Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20

And when the visions had ended, I heard these words: “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star. The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

John 17:20-26

Jesus prayed for his disciples, and then he said, “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Upon entering the nave of our church, we begin to prepare ourselves for our Lord’s blessings and forgiveness. After communion, we give thanks in quiet prayer. Silence and respect for all who are in prayer is requested at both times.

THE ALTAR FLOWERS are given to the glory of God; in loving memory of Terry Harlan, by Bill and Marilyn Hodgson; in loving memory of Joan Atkins, by Virginia Saunders; and in thanksgiving for their 10th wedding anniversary, by Billy and Caroline Wieland. WELCOME VISITORS: We welcome all our visitors this morning! Please join us in Grundorf Hall (directly across the courtyard) after Mass for coffee and fellowship. You are invited to complete a Welcome Card, located in the pew rack, and place it in the alms basin so we may contact you, if you would like. TODAY IS GRADUATE SUNDAY: We will recognize our graduating high school and college seniors with a special blessing at both services. Congratulations to our graduates!

High School Graduates Savannah Frasure, Timber Creek High School

Martha-Grace McLean, Winter Park High School R. Chandler Talkington Fletcher, Circle Christian School

Advanced Degree Jordan Stewart, Rollins College,

Bachelor of Arts, Classics and Philosophy THE ANNUAL BABY BOTTLE DRIVE is the BIGGEST area-wide fundraiser for the Sanford and Oviedo Pregnancy Centers. The Pregnancy Centers empower every woman to make a life-saving decision, providing compassionate counseling, and other needed resources. These centers are 100% donor-supported; they receive no government funding. Baby bottles are available in the courtyard, if you have not picked one up, or would like more. The baby bottles may be filled with cash, coin, or check (made out to The Pregnancy Centers of Oviedo and Sanford). They can be returned any Sunday, through Father’s Day, June 17. No donation is too small or too great! Please pray for those facing an unplanned pregnancy, and their unborn children. POTLUCK SUPPER HIATUS: Our monthly first Wednesday night Potluck Suppers will take a break during the summer and resume in September. Our weekly Wednesday 6:00pm Mass will continue.

THE TUESDAY WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY will begin their summer sessions next Tuesday, June 11. The group will meet in the church library at 9:30am every other week through August 6. Childcare will be provided. Please join us. IN THANKS: As our Youth prepare for the Anglican Life Summer Camp and an Appalachia Service Project Mission Trip, please accept our thanks to so many for the financial help through the youth scholarships and by supporting the Bake Sales, Rummage Sale, and Chili Cook-off! COFFEE AND DONUTS: Please help us out by leaving a small donation in the collection box each Sunday when partaking of coffee and donuts. If each person gives just a little, it will help a great deal to offset our food and supply costs. We still have some slots left for volunteers to pick up donuts and make coffee. (Sign-up sheet is in the courtyard.) NEATNIKS: Do you feel called to help in the Church? To keep St. Alban’s as clean and tidy as we do, it is cleaned weekly by a team of 2 parishioners. These parishioners volunteer for 2 hours just once a month, to dust and vacuum the nave of our church. This vital service is in need of a few new people to help fill-in during vacation or illness. For more information, and to offer your help, please contact Anyah Cook (407-739-5174). All are welcome to volunteer! NEWS AROUND THE PROVINCE: Check out the APA website (www.anglicanprovince.com) for the Bishop’s Epistles, Global and Domestic news about our Church, Synod Registration, and parish updates. Also the latest edition of The Trinitarian is in the magazine racks today. There are several articles about the APA, including the front page article about the APA Group’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land! SUPPORT ST. ALBAN’S WHILE YOU SHOP: St. Alban’s continues to participate in the Amazonsmile Foundation for charitable organizations. When you shop Amazon, go to Smile.Amazon.com, instead of the main Amazon website, and select “St Albans Church Inc” as your charity of choice. Afterwards, even if you start shopping on Amazon.com site, you can just pop over to smile.amazon.com and all items will be in your cart! It’s an easy way to support our church, as we receive a donation of 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products. Thank you for your ongoing support of St. Alban’s!
