DESCRIPTION / DESCRIÇÃO
This air engine generator and multifunction, common named Stirling or
hot air engine, comprises a single cylinder air engine, and an
electric generator. Also, the engine has several other transmission
mechanisms- pulleys and gear- to connect on external devices with
different speeds and output power depending on preferences.
WORKING PRINCIPLE/ MODO DE FUNCIONAMENTO The ST-08 air engine is an external combustion engine, and since work
is performed at every complete revolution of the shaft, it has a two-
stroke cycle. The engine has two cylinders. The displacer/regenerator
cylinder and the power cylinder. The external combustion of the fuel
is clean and takes place continuously in the burner supplying heat to
the hot space of the displacer/regenerator cylinder. Combustion
products do not enter inside the cylinder that is closed off. Below
the heater is a water cooling jacket that works as a thermosiphon
system to cool down that part of the cylinder. Inside the
displacer/regenerator cylinder is a stainless steel regenerator and
inside the power cylinder, is a piston that transfers the power to the
crank. The Stirling cycle acts like this:
I. Compression of cold air in the cold space;
II. Heating of the compressed air in the regenerator and hot
space;
III. Expansion of the hot air in the hot space;
IV. Cooling of the expanded air in the regenerator and cold
space.
A combustão externa
do combustível é limpa, ocorrendo continuamente no queimador,
deslocador/regenerador. Os produtos da combustão, não entram no
interior do cilindro que está completamente selado. Abaixo do espaço
I. Compressão do ar frio no espaço frio;
II. Aquecimento do ar comprimido no regenerador e no espaço
quente;
III. Expansão do ar quente no espaço quente;
IV. Arrefecimento do ar expandido no regenerador e espaço frio.

TRANSPORT/ TRANSPORTE The engine must be moved manually by grabbing the handles on the sides
of the wood base. The handles can be removed from the wood base if
necessary. When transporting the motor is important to keep it
leveled. During transport, the engine must not be running. All valves
must be securely closed so that no leaks of water or fuel occur. By
moving the motor, it must be placed over a location leveled, which
does not slip. The wood base is provided with four anti skid.
Todas as válvulas
solo.
OPERATION/ FUNCIONAMENTO
BEFORE START UP/ANTES DE LIGAR
1. The engine must work leveled.
2. Fill the fuel tank with alcohol or kerosene.
3. Check the level of cooling water and the need of lubricating oil.
1. O motor deve trabalhar nivelado.
3. Verificar o nível de água de refrigeração e a necessidade de óleo.
-10-
STARTING / ARRANQUE
1. Ignite the fuel wicks.
2. Wait 1-3 minutes until start the engine.
3. Connect the hand crank on its cam position next to the flywheel.
4. Rotate the engine clockwise in the direction of the arrow in the
flywheel (the engine will only rotate in this direction and might
be necessary to reduce some compression when moving the piston
from bottom dead center (BDC) to top dead center(TDC)).
1. Acender os pavios de combustível.
3. Conectar a manivela na came situada junto do volante.
STOPPING/ PARAR
1. Erase the flame of the wicks.
2. Wait until the engine stops by itself.
3. Check if the fuel tank is closed and all the flames off.
1. Apagar a chama dos pavios.
apagadas.
IMPORTANT/ IMPORTANTE Even after the maximum 3 minute warm up, the engine could not work
because of heat losses associated with wind, lower temperatures, or
other similar factors. If this occurs, wait a little longer. The
engine has a high compression which can difficult starting if the
engine if not properly pre-heated. In order to reduce unnecessary
effort on the user and the motor, it is recommended that slowly
withdraws compression, leading slowly the power piston from the BDC to
TDC and then quickly rotate the hand-crank to start.
No
-11-

LUBRICATION/LUBRIFICAÇÃO The lubrication of the moving parts of the engine must be done
periodically between each two uses of the engine, or, if excessive
consume, when needed to execute a perfect run.
TENSION ON THE BELTS/ TENSÃO NAS CORREIAS
Power transmission is a function of belt tension. However, also
increasing with tension is stress (load) on the belt and bearings. The
ideal belt is that of the lowest tension that does not slip in high
loads. Belt tensions should also be adjusted to belt type, size,
speed, and pulley diameters. Proper belt tension is when the belt
deflects approx. ¼” inch at the center when squeezed firmly on both
sides( see Fig.3).
No entanto,
6,35mm no

CLEANING/LIMPEZA
The engine must be cleaned with a dry cloth when needed.

-13-
WATER LEVEL/NIVEL DA ÁGUA
The cooling water should always be present when the engine is running.
The use of water can forbid startup, normal operation, or even damage
the engine. The user should fill the water tank completely up to its
maximum level. For the thermosyphon operates properly, the circuit
should be sealed with a cap preventing the entry or exit of air. The
flow should occur, then, of course, after given temperature. The water
has no coolant in the tank. When the water tank is very hot, it is
recommended to stop the motor for about 1-1.5 hours.
FUEL CONSUPTION/CONSUMO COMBUSTIVEL
The ST-08 air engine uses alcohol or kerosene as fuel. Gasoline could
also be used, but for reasons related with safety of operation and
longer durability, the first two fuels should be used instead of
gasoline, and, in preference, alcohol. The fuel tank has a capacity of
about 0.35 Liter, and the burner around the cylinder takes a maximum
volume of 0.09 Liter. The fuel system and ignition is manual. It must
be controlled during operation, opening the safety valve on the main
tank, remaining the main cap closed, and the lower valve little
opened. This way the fuel drops into the burner. In this process, the
user must wait more or less 10-15 seconds, so that the burner jacket
fills. After that, the user only needs to close the safety valve on
the top. Fuel will stop its flow. All this process must be done in a
period between 10-15 minutes between fillings of the burner. With the
fuel tank full filled, and using this process correctly, the fuel
should be enough to run the engine for about 3 hours, no stopping and
no water changing, at average speed.
do queimador. Depois disso, o utilizador apenas necessita fechar a
do queimador.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS/ OUTRAS INFORMAÇÕES IMPORTANTES
1. The top of the engine after start-up becomes very hot. Be careful
when touching because it can cause severe burns.
2. The wicks can spend quickly. Just replace by other suitable wicks.
3. If the wicks are completely dry, the user may need to wait some
time until wetting.
4. Along the cooling water can be used normal antifreeze liquid.
5. The superior protection of the motor must always be placed after
the ignition wick, to prevent excessive consumption of fuel, wind
protection, protection of the fuel tank and efficient flow of
gases.
6. If the engine drop its speed with no apparent meaning, check if the
counterweighs are in the correct position.
anticongelantes normais.
