PRAYER AT THE TIME OF TRANSITION: Celebrant: O God, by Your grace You have called us in this Diocese to a goodly

fellowship of faith. Bless our retiring Bishop, Drexel, and our incoming Bishop, Laish, and all of our clergy and people. Grant that Your Word may be truly preached and truly heard, Your sacraments faithfully administered and faithfully received.

Remove from us any encumbrances or sin that restrict us, and increase within us Your reconciling love. Pour out upon us Your Spirit of peace and of unity. Make us receptive to the guidance of Your Holy Spirit as we journey onward. Renew our vision, energy and passion for Your work and ministry. Fashion our lives according to the example of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and help us to show the power of Your love to all among whom we live; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

ALL: Amen.

THE BLESSING: Celebrant: The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy

Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. ALL: Amen.

RECESSIONAL HYMN — 7:00 AM…………..……………………….A&M 379

Now thank we all our God, with heart, and hands, and voices, Who wondrous things hath done, in Whom His world rejoices; Who from our mother’s arms hath bless’d us on our way With countless gifts of love, and still is ours to-day.

O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us, With ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us; And keep us in His grace, and guide us when perplex’d, And free us from all ills in this world and the next.

All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given, The Son, and Him Who reigns with Them in highest Heaven, The One Eternal God, Whom earth and Heav’n adore, For thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.

RECESSIONAL HYMN—9:30 AM……………“COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS”

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly, And you will keep singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold, Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold; Count your many blessings. Wealth can never buy Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small, Do not be disheartened, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

THE DISMISSAL: Celebrant: Go in peace and serve the Lord. ALL: In the Name of Christ. Amen.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

COMMUNION HYMN……………………………..“HOW GREAT THOU ART”

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder, Consider all the world’s Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy Power through out the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour, God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art; Then sings my soul, my Saviour, God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art.

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in. That on the Cross, my burdens gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shouts of acclamation, And take me Home, what joy shall fill my heart; Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art.

CHILDREN’S BLESSING—9:30 AM...“ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL” (Bahamas Harvest version sung to tune of A&M 573. Lyrics adopted by former Educator and Catechist Roland Jones)

Please Kneel.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER – FORM A: ALL: Almighty Father, we thank You for feeding us with the Body and

Blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. May we who share His Body live His risen life; we who drink His cup bring life to others; we upon whom Your Spirit shines give light to the world. Help us to continue in faithful witness to Your Word, so we and all Your children shall be free and the whole earth live to praise Your Name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

22

All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small; All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all.

The bright and sunny weather, Our sparkling waters pure, Are gifts from God as well as, The white sand on our shore.

The mangoes in the summer, The sea grapes growing wild, Guinep, and plums and guavas,

Are gifts for every child.

The waters ‘round our islands, Are brimming full with food, Grouper, and crab and lobster, That do our bodies good.

Hibiscus bloom in daytime, And Bougainvillea bright,

The crotons and the sunflowers, Jasmine that scents the night.

He gave us eyes to see them, And lips that we might tell, How great is God Almighty, Who has made all things well.

For homes, and church and playtime, For friends and parents too, For health and godly living, O Lord, we say “Thank you.”

Praise, O praise our God and King; Hymns of adoration sing; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure.

Praise Him that He made the sun Day by day His course to run; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure;

And the silver moon by night, Shining with her gentle light; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure.

Praise Him that He gave the rain To mature the swelling grain; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure.

And hath bid the fruitful field Crops of precious increase yield; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure.

Praise Him for our harvest-store, He hath filled the garner-floor; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure.

And for richer food than this, Pledge of everlasting bliss; For His mercies still endure Ever faithful, ever sure.

Glory to our bounteous King; Glory let creation sing; Glory to the Father, Son, And blest Spirit, Three in One.

Come, ye thankful people, come, Raise the song of Harvest-home: All is safely gather’d in, Ere the winter-storms begin; God, our Maker, doth provide For our wants to be supplied; Come to God’s own Temple, come; Raise the song of Harvest-home.

All this world is God’s own field, Fruit unto His praise to yield; Wheat and tares therein are sown, Unto joy or sorrow grown; Ripening with a wondrous power Till the final Harvest-hour: Grant, O Lord of life, that we Holy grain and pure may be.

For we know that Thou wilt come, And wilt take Thy people home; From Thy field wilt purge away All that doth offend, that day; And Thine Angels charge at last In the fire the tares to cast, But the fruitful ears to store In Thy garner evermore.

Come then, Lord of mercy, come, Bid us sing Thy Harvest-home: Let Thy Saints be gather’d in, Free from sorrow, free from sin; All upon the golden floor Praising Thee for evermore: Come, with all Thine Angels come; Bid us sing Thy Harvest-home.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD—FORM A: Celebrant: We break this Bread to share in the Body of Christ. ALL: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in

one Bread.

THE INVITATION—FORM A: Celebrant: My Brothers and Sister in Christ, draw near and receive His Body

which He gave for you, and His Blood, which He shed for you. Remember that He died for you, and feed on Him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

ALL: Grant gracious Lord, that we so eat the flesh of Your dear Son Jesus Christ, and drink His Blood, that we may evermore dwell in

Him and He in us.

THE AGNUS DEI: ALL: Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on

us. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.

COMMUNION HYMN…………………………………………………...A&M 316

Alleluia! sing to Jesus! His the Sceptre, His the Throne; Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone; Hark! the songs of peaceful Sion thunder like a mighty flood; Jesus out of every nation hath redeem’d us by His Blood.

Alleluia! not as orphans are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! He is near us, faith believes, nor questions how: Though the cloud from sight received Him, when the forty days were o'er Shall our hearts forget His promise, 'I Am with you evermore'?

Alleluia! Bread of Angels, Thou on earth our Food, our Stay; Alleluia! here the sinful flee to Thee from day to day; Intercessor, Friend of sinners, Earth's Redeemer, plead for me. Where the songs of all the sinless sweep across the crystal sea.

Alleluia! King eternal, Thee the Lord of lords we own; Alleluia! born of Mary, Earth Thy footstool, Heav’n Thy Throne: Thou within the veil hast enter’d, robed in flesh, our great High Priest. Thou on earth both Priest and Victim in the Eucharistic Feast.

Alleluia! sing to Jesus! His the Sceptre, His the Throne; Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone; Hark! the songs of peaceful Sion thunder like a mighty flood; Jesus out of every nation hath redeem’d us by His Blood.

COMMUNION HYMN……………………..“GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS”

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

21

Celebrant: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give You thanks, Father almighty, everlasting God:

PREFACE OF HARVEST FESTIVAL:

Through Jesus Christ our Lord, the Word active in creation, Who dwelling among us Himself rejoiced in the beauty of the earth; giving thanks to You for the fruits of harvest and the fishes of the sea; and through His own work hallowing all human service.

Therefore we praise You, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of Your Name:

ALL: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of Your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant: We give thanks to You Lord our God, for the goodness and love You have made known to us in creation; in calling Israel to be Your people; in Your Word spoken through the prophets: and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus Your Son.

For in these last days You sent Him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Saviour and Redeemer of the world.

In Him, You have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before You. In Him, You have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.

For, on the night that He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to You, He broke it and gave it to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it: This is My Body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of Me.”

And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is My Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of Me.”

Therefore, Father, according to His command; ALL: We remember His death. We proclaim His resurrection. We

await His coming in glory.

Celebrant: And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to You, Lord of all; presenting to You, from Your creation, this bread and this wine.

We pray You, gracious God, to send Your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the sacrament of the Body of Christ and His Blood of the New Covenant. Unite us to Your Son in His sacrifice that we, made acceptable in Him, may be sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

In the fullness of time, reconcile all things in Christ, and make them new, and bring us to that City of Light where You dwell with all Your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the Head of the Church, and the Author of our Salvation:

By Whom, and with Whom, and in Whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are Yours, Almighty Father, now and ever.

ALL: Amen.

Please Stand (9:30 a.m.)

THE LORD’S PRAYER: Celebrant: As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray: ALL: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name; Your kingdom

come; Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our

20 5

bodies as a living sacrifice and eat and drink of Your spiritual food in this Holy Sacrament. Amen.

COLLECT FOR PURITY: ALL: Almighty God, to You all hearts are open, all desires known, and

from You no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your Holy Name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE KYRIE: ALL: Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy, Christ, have mercy, Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy.

THE GLORIA: Celebrant: Glory to God in the highest, ALL: and peace to His people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King,

Almighty God and Father, we worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for Your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; You are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For You alone are the Holy One; You alone are the Lord: You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Celebrant: The Lord be with you. ALL: And also with you.

Celebrant: Let us pray.

THE COLLECT FOR HARVEST FESTIVAL: Celebrant: Almighty and gracious Father, we give You thanks for the fruits of

the earth in their season and for the labours of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of Your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of Your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

ALL: Amen.

THE COLLECT FOR THE TWENTY-SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST: Celebrant: Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our

learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

ALL: Amen.

Please Sit.

that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, in order to humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commandments. 3 He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD...

6 Therefore keep the commandments of the LORD your God, by walking in His ways and by fearing Him. 7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with flowing streams, with springs and underground waters welling up in valleys and hills, 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, 9 a land where you may eat bread without scarcity, where you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you may mine copper. 10 You shall eat your fill and bless the LORD your God for the good land that He has given you...

17 Do not say to yourself, ‘My power and the might of my own hand have gained me this wealth.’ 18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, so that He may confirm His covenant that He swore to your ancestors, as He is doing today. 19 If you do forget the LORD your God and follow other gods to serve and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish. 20 Like the nations that the LORD is destroying before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.”

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

PSALM 65:9-14.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning is now, and shall be forever. Amen.

v. 7 We lose what on ourselves we spend, we have as treasure without end Whatever, Lord, to Thee we lend, Who givest all.

Reader: We bring the harvest collection, sign of man’s toil and labour. It is the Lord alone that yields our increase. All things come of Thee, O Lord.

ALL: And of Thine own have we given Thee.

v. 8 Whatever, Lord, we lend to Thee , repaid a thousandfold will be; Then gladly will we give to Thee, Who givest all.

Reader: In this loaf of bread we bring the harvest of our land. The fruit of man’s labour and the means by which he labours. To God, Creator and Redeemer, we offer back that which He has given, with thanksgiving.

ALL: Blessed be Thou, O Lord our God, for ever and ever. For all that is in heaven and earth is Thine.

v. 9 To Thee, from Whom we all derive, our life, our gifts, our power to give: O may we ever with Thee live, Who givest all.

OFFERTORY HYMN…………………..……..“BRINGING IN THE SHEAVES”

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness, Sowing in the noon-tide and the dewy eve;

Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping. We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves: Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows, Fearing neither clouds nor winter’s chilling breeze; By and by the harvest, and the labour ended,

We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master, Tho’ the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;

When our weeping’s over, He will bid us welcome, We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

THE PRESENTATION OF THE OFFERING: ALL: Praise God from Whom all blessing flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below,

Praise Him, above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Celebrant Father, we offer You these gifts which You have given us; & People: this bread, this wine, this money. With them we offer ourselves,

our lives, and our work, to become through Your Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, so may we and all Your people become channels of Your love; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER — FORM C: Celebrant: The Lord be with you. ALL: And also with you.

Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. ALL: We lift them up to the Lord.

Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. ALL: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

18

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice, Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice.

O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, great things He hath done!

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes

That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, And greater our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;

But purer and higher and greater will be, Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

+ SECOND LESSON + Reader: A Reading from Word of God written in James 1:17-18, 21-27.

17 Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. 18 In fulfillment of His own purpose He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of His creatures...

21 Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. 23 For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror; 24 for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like. 25 But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing. 26 If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

Please Stand.

GRADUAL HYMN………….…………………………………………....A&M 383

THE GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Leader: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Response: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Leader: Those who are sowing in tears will sing when they reap. Response: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

We plough the fields, and scatter the good seed on the land, But it is fed and water’d by God’s Almighty Hand; He sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain, The breezes, and the sunshine, and soft refreshing rain. All good gifts around us are sent from Heav’n above, Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, for all His love.

He only is the Maker of all things near and far; He paints the wayside flower, He lights the evening star; The winds and waves obey Him, by Him the birds are fed; Much more to us, His children, He gives our daily bread. All good gifts around us are sent from Heav’n above, Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, for all His love.

We thank Thee then, O Father, for all things bright and good, The seed-time and the harvest, our life, our health, our food; Accept the gifts we offer for all Thy love imparts, And, what Thou most desirest, our humble, thankful hearts. All good gifts around us are sent from Heav’n above, Then thank the Lord, O thank the Lord, for all His love.

8

+ THE GOSPEL + Reader: The Lord be with you. Response: And also with you. Reader: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 65:25-33. Response: Glory to Christ our Saviour. 25 Jesus said, “I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? 28 And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you —you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not worry, saying, “What will we eat?” or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” 32 For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things; and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But strive first for the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Reader: This is the Gospel of Christ. Response: Praise to Christ our Lord.

COLLECTION HYMNS — 7:00 AM…………………………...……….A&M 384

“TO GOD BE THE GLORY” To God be the glory, great things He hath done, So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, And opened the Life Gate that all may go in.

To Thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise In hymns of adoration, To Thee bring sacrifice of praise With shouts of exultation; Bright robes of gold the fields adorn, The hills with joy are ringing, The valleys stand so thick with corn That even they are singing.

And now, on this our festal day, Thy bounteous Hand confessing, Upon Thine Altar, Lord, we lay The first-fruits of Thy blessing; By Thee the souls of men are fed With gifts of grace supernal, Thou, Who dost give us earthly bread, Give us the Bread Eternal.

We bear the burden of the day, And often toil seems dreary; But labour ends with sunset ray, And rest comes for the weary; May we, the Angel-reaping o’er, Stand at the last accepted, Christ’s golden sheaves for evermore To garners bright elected.

Oh, blessed is that land of God, Where Saints abide for ever; Where golden fields spread far and broad, Where flows the crystal river: The strains of all its holy throng With ours today are blending; Thrice blessed is that harvest-song Which never hath an ending.

Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father. With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

AN END TO WORLD HUNGER: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

• In the Asian, African and Latin American countries, well over 500 million people are living in what the World Bank has called "absolute poverty." • Every year 15 million children die of hunger.

• For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years. • Throughout the 1990's more than 100 million children will die from illness and starvation. Those 100 million deaths could be prevented for the price of ten Stealth bombers, or what the world spends on its military in two days!

• The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving- Since you've entered this site at least 200 people have died of starvation. Over 4 million will die this year. • 3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day.
