About SSA

The Summer Science Academy DayProgram is a two week science enrichmentprogram that offers a series of lectures,labs, and field experiences for high schoolstudents. These “hands on” experiences aredesigned to heighten students’ interest inscience and fund of knowledge, increaseawareness of careers in science andhealthcare, and introduce and/or reinforcesome principles of science. The program is only for students enteringthe 9th and 10th grades for the 2020-2021school year. Topics covered in the program consist of,but are not limited to:

Registration Available Online atmed.emory.edu/summercamps *Registrations will be accepted until spaces arefilled. Any registrations made after May 4 must bepaid in full.

The Summer Science Academy operates under fivecore principles and beliefs: 1. Science is all around us and a vital part of our lives. 2. All students, regardless of racial and/orsocioeconomic background, are able to learnsophisticated principles of science and should beencouraged to pursue careers requiring a scientificbackground. 3. Students who are female are capable of learningsophisticated principles in science and should beencouraged to pursue careers requiring a scientificbackground. 4. It is OK to be smart and be a high achiever,especially in the science, math and technology areas. 5. Young people who are nurtured in many areas oftheir lives thrive and develop the self confidence toset and achieve high goals.
