"On Tuesday a LeT mili- tant escaped when he was being taken to the S.M.H.S hospital for a medical check up from Srinagar Central Jail in the morning," he said. Calling Hunzullah's escape "the first such inci- dent in last 20 years, Azad said: "Such incidents used to happen in 1990s." "This doesn't reflect good. It's not good for the state, as well as for the country. After receiving nod from central zoo authority of India and the state wildlife protection board headed by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, the J&K wildlife department has written to state forest department for acquiring 31 hectares of forest land. Proposed over an area of around 40 hectares, the Rs 100 crore zoo would be set up in Aru wildlife sanctu- ary in Pahalagm and would include the existing “mini- zoo”, said regional wildlife warden Rashid Naqash. The funding for the project has been allocated under CAMPA. “Once the formalities are completed we will hire a consultancy for preparing master plan for execution of the zoo,” said Naqash. An official said the idea to establish the zoo was being explored for past many years. The government had initially proposed to set up the facility in the outskirts of summer capital Srinagar, somewhere around Dachi- gam National Park. But the central zoo authority of India didn’t find the location feasible, also due to inad- equate area available. Sources disclosed that government has made up its mind not to hold the polls given the fragile situation in Kashmir. “The government won’t hold the polls at this stage. The State government has convinced the Government of India that situation is not conducive to hold the exer- cise,” they said. According to sources, there is no agenda item related to Panchayat polls in Thursday’s cabinet meet- ing. “The polls may not come at all for discussion during the meeting,” the source said. New Delhi, Feb 7: The Con-gress on Wednesday said the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is "at its worst" as it described the escape of LeT militant from a hospital in Srinagar as a "failure" of the BJP-PDP government.

Sources disclosed that government has made up its mind not to hold the polls given the fragile situation in Kashmir.

“The government won’t hold the polls at this stage. The State government has convinced the Government of India that situation is not conducive to hold the exer-cise,” they said.

According to sources, there is no agenda item related to Panchayat polls in Thursday’s cabinet meet-ing. “The polls may not come at all for discussion during the meeting,” the source said.

According to sources, the cabinet would meet at 3 p.m. to approve a bill for amending the 4th sched-ule of J&K Constitution to increase the salary of Chief Justice and Judges of J&K High Court. The revision would come into effect from 01.01.2016.
