Assessment regarding job assurance. On 24.03.2018 the programme was in the college indoor stadium regarding self- employment kit distribution activity and interaction with volunteers; interaction with beneficiaries about their kit usage. Dropout beneficiaries also analyzed in the camp. Reasons for Dropout was Mis communication-Wrong cell no. Absence in their places Wrong address Care takers failure to bring the PWD’S in the centre.

    With globalization the Indian Industry is focusing to re-engineer than supply

    chain and logistics activities to achieve the competitive edge Indian companies has created the

    need for a range of Logistics and Transportation solutions for the Industry, ranging from

    solutions for multi-modal transport, freight forwarding, material handling, warehousing,

    shipping, aircargo, packaging inventory management in integrating logistics and supply chains

    Mrs.S.Nithya highlighted that after Logistics can

    be used as an effective weapon to combat

    competition. An efficient Logistics system allows

    a high level of international trade the enlightened

    that challenges the logistics industries face is that

    the dynamison of logistical function has become

    wider due to expansion in the size and its with

    dimensional operations of corporate enterprises

    Mr.V.C.Hamish enlighted the opportunities

    available in Logistics Industries in various

    divisions like warehousing Shipping,

    Transportation and in Documenting procedures in

    Export division. Mr.N. Naharajan emphasized that

    the Logistical Management stants with how

    logistical competency fits into a firm’s overall

    strategies overall positioning. The service platform of superior logistics achievers his typically

    characterized by alternative logistical capabilities, emphasizing flexibility time-based

    performance and most of all a commitment to perfect service performance. Hence the workshop

    covered the topic on challenges, opportunities and leverages of industries.

    The students of Logistics were exposed to gain knowledge on challenges and

    opportunities faced by Logistics industries. The students came out with the feedback that which

    were several corporations use “Logistics leverage” to create competitive advantage in the world

    markets.

    Library Committee arranged for a Book Fair from 2.1.2018 to

    4.1.2018. More than 5000 titles on Tamil, English, Science, Spiritual,

    Health, Cookery, Astrology and Children’s were exhibited. There was

    an amazing response from students and public. Books worth Rs

    3,00,000/- were purchased by students and public.

  • Insurance campaign for persons with disability -Danvanthitri Foundation insurance Team

    On 14.07.2017, Insurance Campaign & Self Employment Kit Distribution Activity

    for Persons with Disabilities was organized in our college. 119 PWDs have been

    participated with their family members. Doctor’s team from Lakshmi Hospital &

    Abirami Hospital and Danvanthiri Foundation (Insurance Team) assessed the

    beneficiaries.

    On 15.07.2017, Mr.G.Ravindran, Managing Trustee and Secretary of G.V.G.

    has consented to distribute the kit for 30 PWDs – Self-Employment Kits have been

    distributed for different sectors like Pettishop, Incense Stick Sales, Welding Work,

    Laundry Work, Tiffin Stall, Sweet Stall, Two & Three Wheeler Seat Stitching

    work, Puncture Shop and Goat Rearing.

    Inclusion of disabilty in workplace and society

    WSC of GVG and Cheshire Homes Coimbatore has jointly organized an advocacy

    training programme on “Inclusion of Disability in Work Place and Society” on 21.03.17 with the

    coordination of District Differently Abled Welfare Office, Tirupur District at Ginger Hotel,

    Tirupur. There were 77 delegates including the employers, HR Managers, Trainers & NGOs

    participated in the Training Programme. Tmt.

    Mrs. S. Jeyanthi, I.A.S., the District Collector

    inaugurated the training programme and she

    exhorted the employers to provide

    employment opportunities for the differently

    abled. Mr. C. Raviselvan, the chairman, gave

    a brief history of the Cheshire Homes

    Director, Employment Officer of Differently

    abled Welfare Office, Chennai, Mr. C.

    Venkatesan from Bharathiyar University

    elaborated the services and steps by the

    Differently Abled Welfare Office to empower

    the differently abled persons. The Collector

    gave the shield for the best employers to encourage the participant employers for the placement

    of PWDs. Mrs. Dhanalakshmi, the Secretary of Cheshire Homes Coimbatore felicitated the

    delegates from various sectors.

  • Workshop on Entrepreneurship: Creating the Perfect Pitch by Alumnae Entrepreneurs

    Department of Economics jointly organized a one day workshop with ED cell on

    28.02.2017. The workshop commenced with the

    lighting of the lamp by the Secretary Srimathi Sumathi

    Krishnaprasad and other dignitaries Dr.R.Radhika,

    Associate Professor and Head gave the welcome

    address, Dr.K.Punithavalli, Principal in her presidential

    address emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship.

    Miss. S. Vimala Rani, MSW, social worker, CHEER,

    NGO gave the special address on “Social

    Responsibility of the Students”.

    Mrs. B. Manonmani, Proprietor, Poultry

    Business encouraged the students towards “The Path to

    Entrepreneurship – Get Inspired”. Mrs. Gowri Nagaraj,

    Proprietor, Hastakala Varnalaya, Udumalpet motivated

    the students on “Your hands Your Business”. Mrs. J. Vasanthi, Agripreneur, Gomangalampudur

    inspired the students on “Youth Agripreneurship - A Promise for Future. Mrs. C. Tamilselvi,

    Franchisee, Naturals, Udumalpet elaborately discussed about the “Franchise Opportunities and

    Be Your Own Boss”. Mrs. Nirmala Ashok, Correspondent, VAV International School,

    Udumalpet insisted the students for “Creating a New Wave in Education”. Dr.P.Geetha gave the

    vote of thanks.

    232 students from Economics, Logistics and Commerce actively participated in the

    interactive session and clear their doubts.

    Science outreach Program

  • Government Scheme facilitation for persons with Disabilities Programme

    Government Schemes facilitation for Persons with

    Disabilities Programme was organized by WSC of GVG, LRC

    team and District Government Community Awareness Cultural

    Team of Tirupur District on 2.2.2017. A professional street play

    team gave an awareness program on various government

    schemes to the public to the PWDs in the Udumalpet bus stand.

    20 Post graduate students of GVG participated in this program.

    Disabilty card facilitation

    WSC of GVG organised a three days

    programme on PHP and Disability card facilitation

    programme on 29th, 30th and 31st, January 2017.151

    PWDs participated with the support of 151 family

    members. Among the PWDs 151 People came with

    PWDs, their requirements have been noted and

    proofs like Aadhar Card, Disability card, Ration

    Card and Bank statement Xerox copies & Photos

    have been collected from PWDs to apply for PHP or

    Disability Card. After filling the forms, it was

    collected by the volunteers and taken for processing

    the pension papers.

    Vocational training program for PWD

    25 PWDs joined vocational training program at

    the training centre of GVG. This program was the 4th

    batch of the training in Computer and tailoring. It is 3

    months course. LRC Coimbatore facilitated to get bus

    pass to the PWDs who are attending classes regularly

    in coordination with Government department. The

    PWDs and their caretakers were provided with lunch

    and refreshment.

  • Training on volunteerism

    WSC organized a voluntary sensitization event on 21.10.2016. 600 students and 14 staff

    participated in this event. The occasion started with welcome address, the volunteer Mrs. Nithya

    Gowri briefly explained about Cheshire Homes activity and the expectation of the students

    volunteer.

    Training on Community awareness

    The programme was conducted with the participation of

    460 student volunteers. Mrs. Vaishnavi Naren, Committee

    member, has briefly explained about Cheshire Homes activity

    and the expectation of the students volunteers.

    The student volunteers committed themselves for

    identification of PWDs through community based level. They

    sought the help of students for finding PWDs and their role and

    responsibility to provide livelihood support was explained.

    Government aid facilitation camp

    16 Candidates were assessed on 4.8.2016 in GVG

    College for various Govt Aids.8 Candidates are applied for

    Tailoring Machine – those who completed tailoring training

    in GVG College. 2 Candidates applied for Four Wheeler

    Vehicle. 2 Candidates applied for X-Card (Bus pass). 2

    Candidates applied for Disability card.2 Candidates newly

    assessed in GVG College (1 MR & 1 HI).

    Addressing Women in development

    A guest lecture on Women in Development was delivered by Mr.P.Siva Subramanian

    IES, Research Officer, NITI AAYOG, and NewDelhi.on20.7.2016. 250 students participated in

    this programme.

  • Inadequate knowledge about online Payment

    Reassessment Camp for PwD

    Women Studies Centre of GVG organized the re-assessment campaign for 39 PWDs

    were reassessed.

    Description and Outcome of the event:

    To provide guidance for disability certification

    To assess their needs wage, self assistive device and

    medical aid

    PWDs gave good co- operation in that camp

    Addressing on Women Empowerment

    Sri G.V.G. Visalakshi College for Women

    celebrated International Women’s Day and Felicitated Dr. J. Manjula, Director, Research &

    Collaboration for being the Recipient of Twin Awards, the Best Educationist Award and also

    the National Mahila Rattan Gold Medal Award on 08.03.2016 at G.V.G. Auditorium.

    Mrs.B.Chandra Balasubramaniam, M.Com., B.Ed., Bogar Mooligai Thiru Kudil, Palani,

    Mrs.S.Jothimani, M.A., M.Phil., Writer, Media Panelist, Dr.Sivakani Subash, MBBS., MBA.,

    Dr.Sivakani Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Udumalpet rendered the special address focusing on Women

    Empowerment and expressed their reverence for the Director Dr.J.Manjula, an epitome to be

  • eulogized. She was cited as a role model by all the speakers for all her achievements. 1004

    students attended this programme.

  • Differently abled and mobilization and job fair camp 2016

    On 21.2.2016 Dr. S.Sundari Bai co-ordinator Women’s Studies Center attended a

    differently abled and mobilization and job fair camp 2016 at Keerthina Matriculation School,

    Coimbatore. Nine of our student Volunteers were effectively participated. Nearly 75 Differently

    abled persons were identified and assessed their life skills as well as the demand for their

    survival. More than 10 companies voluntarily come forward to absorb the talented and

    shortlisted differentaly abled persons for their concern. Students gained knowledge through this

    camp in the form of a) how to communicate the weaker sections b) work with other male

    counterparts in the camp. c) Knowledge on voluntary participation in societal wellness.

    Awareness about social problems of PWD

    As a part of extension activity 55 students were taken to Chesire Home (Home for

    Mentally ill people), Coimbatore. The main objective of this programme is to create the social

    awareness among the students. The staff members and the students contributed money and

    other materials as their little part to the people there. Students entertained them with dance and

    singing songs. Different competitions such as running, musical chair, lucky corner were

    conducted for the mentally affected people and prizes were given to them. Students share their

    emotions with them and done services to them.

    Awareness and availability of employment opportunity

    Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women Organized

    NSS camp at Pallapalayam, kogkalakurchi, Thali and

    Alampalayam from 29.01.2016 to 4.2.2016. On 01.02.2016

    Mr. S.Thiyagarajan., M.Sc Agi, Director, Canara Bank,

    Rural Self Employment Training center at Annuparpalayam,

    Triupur addressed the audience about “providing technical

    skills for employment opportunity and create awareness of

    the saving habits among the women”. Dr. D.Manimozhi as a

    member of women studies center was attended the camp.

    Nearly 200 student volunteers and 50 household women

    were benefited. The impact of the programme was how to

    get skill training under government and also know about

    their savings pattern.

  • Training Program on naturopathy

    The Centre for Women’s Studies organized a training programme with Dr.Nivetha and

    her team on 28.12.2015 & 29.12.2015 in naturopathy. 65 students were trained under this

    programme. Both theory and practical classes were conducted. Practical training was given in the

    Padma Surya naturopathy hospital Kannamanayakanur, Udumalpet. In the Practical training

    programme Juice making in Raddish, Beetroot, Mud –Therapy, Steam bathing, Fruit facial, Oil-

    massage and foot massage was given. The separate Yoga session was conducted for our students,

    to be stress free persons in the society and how to face their problems in the real life. Two of the

    WSC members accompanied the students.

    Motivating and the Identified differently abled persons

    Dr.Sundari Bai Co-ordinator Women Studies Center and Mrs.J.Geethamani, Assistant

    Professor in Economics were attended the camp on 1.11.2015 (Sunday) at Muthu Mahall,

    Kinathukadavu. Nearly 50 differently abled persons identified and made self assessement for

    each individual. Dr.Sundari Bai gave the special address to the gathering focusing Differently

    abled person’s importance and their participation in the society.

    To eradicate dengue fever

    An extraordinary meeting was held on 19.10.2015 in the Conference Hall in

    association with Viswa Vidhya Hospital, Udumalpet. Dr.T.T.Chandrabalan, Director of the

    Hospital created awareness among the students and explained about the prevention and

    protection of Dengue fever through videos.

    Enhancement for Self Employment

    Dr.S. Sundari Bai Co-ordinator Women’s Studies Center, attended “World Mental

    Health Day-2015” was held on 10.10.2015 at Cheshire Homes Coimbatore Livelihood Resource

    Center. Chief Guest Dr. K. VijayKarthikeyan., I.A.S.,

    Commissioner - Coimbatore Corporation was

    presided over the function along with Special

    Invitees, Mr. Chandrasekar, Director for Differently

    abled Coimbatore, Mrs.Karuna – Vice President –

    IMA, Patient residents, Committee members, Staff

    and General community, Chairman Mr. C.

    Raviselvan was given welcoming speech and Guests

    were addressed the theme of the day was “Dignity in

    Mental Health”. Sports event was conducted among

    patient residents, winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd Places) were

    appreciated by giving shields by Chief Guest Dr. K.

  • Coimbatore Corporation. Patient residents were performed singing also. GVG group of

    companies distributed the self employment kit to the differently abled persons based on their

    ability and demand.

    Training program guidelines for new entrepreneurs

    Women Studies Center organized a one day training programme on 7.10.2015 about

    food processing and preparation in millets products in college premises. Principal i/c

    Dr.K.Punithavalli inaugurated the programme by lighting the Kuthuvizhaku . Dr.S.Sundari Bai

    Coordinator Women Studies Center gave the welcome

    address. Dr.Sathyamoorthy Proprietor- Moon Foods

    gave a special address for our students,staff and outside

    entrepreneurs about “Guidelines for New Entrepreneurs

    in the Food Processing Industries”. He emphasized that

    the procedures involved in the food processing

    industries, problems in the business and how to become

    a successful entrepreneur. He gave tips to develop

    marketing tactics and various marketing strategies for

    internal and international market. Session continues with

    the interaction and hands on training programme. He

    gave the hands on training on Mango Squash, Sweet

    Lime Squash, Pineapple Squash, Mixed Furit Jam, Tuti

    Fruity and Amla Pickle. Nearly 35 students and 7

    professors and 4 outside entrepreneurs were effectively participated and trained through

    demonstration. The prepared items will be distributed among the participants.

    Livelihood and challenges for engaging PWD

    Leonard Cheshire Disability and Cheshire Homes Coimbatore jointly organized one day

    workshop on “Disability Equality Training” 24.02.2015 at Coimbatore Institute of Technology

    Coimbatore. Dr.S.Sundari Bai Coordinator Women’s Studies Centre, Mrs. J.Geethamani,

    Assistant Professor in Economics and five Students

    volunteers (k.Geetha – III BA Economics ,P.Arathi -

    III BA Economics V.Gokila - III BA Economics,

    A.Sakthikrishna - II B.Com ( e-com) and V.Mythili –

    III B.Com (SF) are effectively participated in the

    Workshop. The main theme of the programme was to

    provide sustainable livelihood for the differently abled

    persons. The corporate sensitization activity of

    Cheshire Homes Coimbatore enabled us to capture high

    input, experiences and challenges for engaging the

    differentially abled persons in future.

  • Placement for PwD

    Cheshire Homes Coimbatore (Livelihood

    Resources Centre) organized 7th camp for

    differently abled persons on 20.01.2015 in assembly

    Hall at 9.30 am. Nearly 30 differently abled persons

    attended. Out of which 20 differently abled persons

    placed in victor garments, Udumalpet. The range of

    salary is between Rs.9000 to Rs. 15000 with free

    boarding, transportation and lodging. Uniform is

    provided. The highlight of the programme was the

    selected candidates were identified by Women’s

    Studies Centre and Computer and Tailoring training

    was given by our faculty.

    Acted as volunteer

    Dr. S. Sundari Bai co-ordinator Women’s Studies Centre and

    Mrs.J.Geethamani Assistant professor in Economics acted as a

    volunteers in the camp organized by Cheshire Homes Coimbatore on

    19.12.2014 at Kamalam Duraisamy Mahal, Ram Nagar, Coimbatore.

    Carrier development

    The training commenced from 8.11.2014 to 28.11.2014.

    out of 77 disabled persons 23 persons selected for training. Out

    of 23, 14 of them selected for computer training and 9 of them

    selected for tailoring and embroidery. The training is given by

    our (B.Com e.com) faculties.

    Three types of training centers inaugurated on November 7th 2014 for differently abled

    persons. Training centre was inaugurated by Smt. Sumathi krishna Prasad, Managing Trustee &

    Secretary of Sri G.V.G. Visalakshi College for women, Mr.C.Raviselvan Chairman, Cheshire

    Homes Coimbatore G.R.Govindarajan Chief Executive officer, Cheshire Homes Coimbatore.

    The training centers are Computer training, tailoring and cell phone services.
