There were three little butterfly sisters: one white, one red, and
one yellow.

They played,
danced, and they were
very happy.

One day
there camea heavy rain.
![Page 5: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
The butterflies flew home, but the door was locked. So they had to stay out of doors in the
rain.
![Page 6: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Then they flew to the red and yellow striped tulip,
![Page 7: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
"Friend Tulip, will you open your flower-cup and let us in till the storm is over?"
and said,
![Page 8: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
The tulip answered,
"The red and yellow butterflies may enter, because they are like me, but the white one may not come in."
![Page 9: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
But the red and yellow butterflies said,
"If our white sister may not come in, we'll stay outside in the rain with her.''
![Page 10: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Then they flew to the white lily and said,
![Page 11: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
"Good Lily, will you open your bud a little so we may creep in out of the rain?''
![Page 12: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
The lily answered:
"The white butterfly may come in, because she is like me, but the red and yellow ones must stay outside in the storm.''
![Page 13: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Then the little white butterfly said,
"If my red and yellow sisters may not come in, why, then, I'll stay out in the rain with them.
![Page 14: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
But the sun heard it all, and he knew what good little sisters the butterflies were.
![Page 15: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
So he pushed his face through the clouds, and chased away the rain, and shone brightly on the garden.
![Page 16: Spring story](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022081506/559603a51a28ab9f1e8b45db/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
He dried the wings of the three little butterflies, and they danced among the flowers till the evening.

Then they flew away home, and found the door wide open.
