FRIENDS FOCUSIt is always fun to see the donations that come in each week. We never know what we will be featuring at each bookstore. In January the Eastern Bookstore featured Astrology and Spirituality and we had a wonderful dona-tion of sports books. This spring the Fairmount Bookstore will feature items on Gardening, Pets, Nature and Travel. Watch for Fairmount’s special sale April 18th thru the 25th. All items $0.50 and up will be half off.

Keep those donations coming as you do your spring cleaning, and remem-ber we no longer accept VHS tapes, cassettes or records.

NEWS FROM SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

We’ve got a new profile on Historypin! Historypin is a website that allows users to connect past images and sounds with current ones. It’s associat-ed with Google Earth so Special Collections has been able to pin pic-tures to a Google map. This means you can compare our old photos right alongside the images provided by Google Earth; it’s like watch-ing a particular address grow and change before your eyes! Plus you can help us identify people and places by adding tags- it really is a group project. Hop on over and check out this amazing site! https://www.historypin.org/channels/view/60190/#!photos/list/v

Digital Conversion StationWe are excited to announce that you can convert your cas-sette tapes, LPs, and VHS tapes to digital files at our new Dig- i-tal Conversion Station in Special Collections! You can reserve the station for up to six hours at a time, but you must check in with the Special Collections Staff to be sure you get your full time allotment. You can set up reservations through email, by phone, or in person. We currently do NOT have CD or DVD burners so be sure to bring a flash drive along with you- or purchase one at the customer service desk. Staff is always happy to help you with the process so come on down and get those things converted!

“If you find yourself alone in the library, I guess you could say that you’re all by your-shelf.”

–Joe Watkins, Student Clerk Aide
