A Vibrational Plate is a machine that gives the body's muscles a low-impact, high-speed workout by using vibrations to stimulate them to contract and relax. They generally contract once or twice a second, but just by standing on it, the vibrations cause an automatic reflex muscle contraction of 30-50 a second.Just 10 minutes on the Vibrational Plate will have the same results as 60 minutes of conventional strenuous training.

Improves fitness levels

Burns fat & tones

& coordination

& muscle strength

density

This type of workout has actually been compared to doing about 3,000

leg bends, which of course would be impossible with a traditional workout. This means that not only does vibration plate training work, but it’s the best kind of workout that you can get! Many people who are excessively overweight have also said that it’s a great start to getting in shape because you don’t need to be extremely fit already to do it effectively.Training sessions are undertaken in a private room with a trainer, or alone, after your 3rd session – so no need to feel embarrassed about coming along!

Initial session £15, all following sessions £5.For bookings or further information call:

The truth is often hard to come by. In

modern times we celebrate

Valentine’s Day as a day when we

express intimate love for our partners

but it seems that the root of the day

may be somewhat less romantic. I

understand that the day may origi-

nally have been designated to mark

the execution of Saint Valentine by

Emperor Claudius II for promoting

the Christian message in response to

Roman Paganism -

well, well - who would

have believed that!

How do you walk around a roomviolently? How can you tie yourshoelaces bravely? These were acouple of things we had to dorecently. You would be perfectlyentitled to ask – why? We wereplaying a game – I can’t rememberthe name – in which you had to actout words like dreamily, vacantly, anxiously, repeatedly while otherstried to guess what you weredoing. The catch was that youcouldn’t say a word; you couldsing, tie your laces, walk aroundthe room or drink something whileeveryone else shouted theirguesses as to what kind of manneryou were imitating. It was difficult –even frustrating – sometimes im-possible. Once the word wasrevealed or guessed we could allsee clearly what the person wastrying to show; before that we wereoften in the dark.

Afterward I recalled someone frommy own profession talking aboutdelivering a message; theyremarked that they preferred to

use images because an image, apicture, conveys the messagewhereas words can meananything. I’m not so sure. Imagesadd colour to a message butnormally we need words to fullyand clearly get our messageacross. Words are the basicbuilding blocks of communication.Visual communication – on theother hand – has impact; oftensomewhat imprecise it can makeyou feel the message, as well asunderstand it.

Christians believe the Bible isGod’s word; that means we believeGod has communicated with usclearly. He has told us all abouthimself – giving us reliabledirection and quality information.Put another way this personalprofile published by God takes usright to the heart of the personalityat the heart of our universe.Because God has spoken to us wecan know him. We can know hispreferences and understand hispriorities.

But the Bible also reveals that Godhas sent an image; his image. Hehas done more than speak – hehas drawn a picture of himself. Byentering into our time and spaceJesus, the Son of God and ‘theexact imprint of his nature’ enablesus to see the face of God. I don’talways find it easy to relate to ‘aword’, a letter, an email, but Iusually can to the person whowrote it. The written message maybe very clear – just what I need –but the person behind it is the onewith whom I form a bond.

Now Jesus is also called the Wordof God; Jesus is God’s messagespoken and God’s message lived.God seen and God heard; Godtouched and God known so wedon’t need to remain in the dark.As Jesus himself said, ‘I havecome as a light to shine in this darkworld, so that all who put their trustin me will no longer remain in thedark.Rev Colin MorisonForres & Elgin Free Church

Public Session:

Wing Commander gordon Bruce, raf

Kinloss, came to brief the Community

Council on the ongoing draw down plans for

the base after the cancellation and removal

of the nimrod fleet before preparation of the

takeover by 39 engineering regiment (air

support) he said that the draw down had

reached the ½ point, and completion was

hoped to be accomplished by early Dec

prior to handing over to the landlords, moD.

the task had been split into 4 phases, 1.

support for units still using the airfield until

next July. 2. People – the future for 200 civil

service and contractors facing redundancy

and 150 servicemen, about a 20%

reduction. 3. material disposal, some 1.7

million items either returned to stock for

further use or disposal on the open market

& 4. handing structures back to the landlord

Defence structures.

the Wing Commander said that at the

same time engagement with stakeholders

was being carried out ahead of schedule on

the arrival of some 600 army personnel

next easter following a weekend visit by

representatives of 39 engineering

regiment. from spring next year there

would be 4 field sqdns and 2 support

sqdns moving in, though not en masse.

Cllr J mackenzie remarked that he was

sorry to see the departure of the raf but

recalled that in 1954/5 army engineers

were stationed at Pinefield in elgin. Cllr

hellyer said that it would be nice if the

regiment arranged to meet the public,

once they had settled in, in the town hall.

the Chair thanked the Wing Commander

for his briefing on the current state of the

changeover.

Police Constable hammond updated the

members on the latest police information

with respect to a number of minor incidents

during Bonfire night though the remem-

brance Day Parade passed without any

trouble. she said that operation avon,

focussing on underage drinking & anti

social behaviour had been in operation

during november but without anyone being

found under the influence or having alcohol

on them. operation shield, a proactive ini-

tiative aimed at serious & organised Crime

will be ongoing in grampian until april 2012

and moray will be targeting taxi & Vehicle

hire Companies and hotel & leasing

Companies.

With the onset of darker nights, attention

was drawn to house/Property security and

the Winter safe Journey Campaign and PC

hammond also drew attention to the

grampian Police Community initiative fund

which supports local projects with small

grants for reducing crime, victim support

and community empowerment.

Cllr ferris drew members attention to the

celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

on 4th June 2012 and a plan to light

bonfires around her kingdom on that day.

he felt it would be rather appropriate for the

royal Burgh of forres to join in the cele-

brations and suggested that the Common

good fund be urged to support the town in

a celebratory event.

Secretary’s Report

the secretary said that he had received an

update from moray Council heads of De-

partment, together with their email

addresses and telephone numbers.

We had also received an invitation to attend

a user meeting in the forres house

Community Centre on the 30th november.

Cllr Duncan & Cllr lipscomb would attend.

the secretary also informed the meeting of

receipt of an answer to a written question

submitted to the scottish Cabinet public

meeting on the 6th sept. reference

Common good legislation.

Chair’s Report

the Chair had nothing to report.

External Groups Report

Cllr hayward told the meeting that whilst

she was aware that moray Council often

failed to respond to emails she felt that the

least that could be expected was an ac-

knowledgement of receipt from our local

moray Councillors to emails addressed to

them.

Cllr mackenzie said that the heritage group

were still awaiting action from moray

Council to take over the tolbooth. he also

drew attention to the state of the streets &

the lack of a sweeper.

Cllr Kennedy wished to draw attention to

the fact that while we were still deprived of

a pedestrian crossing to gain access to the

railway station, supposedly because you

can’t have a crossing on a bypass/trunk

road. a further two have been installed on

the fochabers Bypass, adding to the ones

for the benefit of residents in elgin. he

requested that our local Cllrs do something

about the inequalities that exist on rulings

referring to trunk roads.

Treasurer’s Report

the treasurer said that the account stood

at £1974.74 with £387.70 being transferred

to special Projects. the secretary

suggested that a letter from forwords, a

forres Writers group, requesting funding

for prizes for junior writers at a literary

event on the 25th march could be met from

the special Projects fund. the prizes

totalling £180 of Book tokens was agreed

unanimously by all members and the

treasurer was instructed to write a cheque

for that amount.

A.O.C.B

tanya mclaren told the meeting that fair

Deal for forres was arranging for a mini

event of stalls, Wave radio, santa Claus

and a fancy dress competition to coincide

with the switching on of the Christmas lights

and urged all to attend or become involved.

the Vice Chair, Cllr hellyer, told members

we had been approached by soccer

sevens with a request for sponsorship.

this sponsorship would provide the first

aid Kit for a three year period at a cost of

£300.00. after discussion the members all

agreed to sponsor the first aid Kit and au-

thorised the treasurer to make payment.

Big changes have been happening in theLochhead household! After the hectic run up toChristmas I could perhaps be forgiven for wantingFebruary to be just a little quieter but a housemove certainly puts paid to any ideas like that.

Fortunately the move isn’t too far -pretty much a couple of milesbut the bottom line is boxes - and lots of them!

The last move was five years ago and I really didn’t think it waspossible to accumlate so much stuff in that space of time buthaving disposed of some old furniture, clothes, toys and variousother items to friends, charity shops and recycling, the move isdone and we can relax....apart from decorating, trying differentroom layouts....ah well, best get on with it!

As a bit of a gadget guy I regularly read news-papers and articles online and have beenexploring the possibilities of wireless network-ing and bluetooth both at work and at home. Arecent revelation has been a set of batterypowered speakers that can produce fantastic

sound and a bluetooth headset that broadcasts to them makingit incredibly simple to speak to a reasonably large number ofpeople and be heard easily at the back of the room with kit thatfits in your pocket! While technology is advancing in leaps and bounds it is,however, a bit of a relief to settle down with a good book ormagazine and leave the gadgets and technology behind. I amalways conscious that our local magazines and newspapers areunder increasing pressure from online news and it is importantthat our Moray print media continues to receive publicsupport for the vital information role it plays.

Elgin Goes to the Movies is the second showcase event featuring a number of City Centre retailers from the Fashion, Hair, Music and Beauty sectors.

Following the success of the first event - Back to Future – Elgin in Style which was a sell-out, Elgin Goes to the Movies will be held on Friday 2nd March at Elgin Town Hall. The event will be themed around an Oscar ceremony with each retailer having their own showcase with each showcase related to a chosen movie told through drama, dance and music. There will be a focus on using local people, young people and performers for all aspects of the event further emphasising the vast talent to be found in Elgin.

The City Centre retailers from the fashion, hair and beauty sectors signed up so far includes many well known names such as: Bijou, M and Co, McCalls, Xanadu, ESP, Tesco, Dorothy Perkins, Ultimate Hair and Beauty, DE Shoes Dorothy Jack, LCTG, Moray College, Marks and Spencer, Eterno Bridal, Chuck McCall, Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

Fashions on show will include children’s, young teenagers, casual men’s, ladies casual and classical, formal and bridal, as well as a hairdressing showcase so there is something for everyone.

Included as part of the evening will be an exhibition/ fayre where local retailers will be promoting and selling their products. This will take place following the show. There will be refreshments throughout the evening with a finger buffet.

Tickets will be on sale from Monday 6th February priced at £10.00 each (£5.00 for concessions) from Elgin Library and Moray College.People can choose from a selection of movie themed tables for the evening and are invited to dress up in style for the occasion.

There will also be a charity raffle for local Elgin Charities.

“ ”…every one of us shall giveaccount of himself to God. Romans 14v12

Suppose it is true after all?

Published by www.wordsbythewayside.co.uk Registered Scottish Charity SCO41290

Two Friends were talking on religious topics. They discussed the question of punishment for sin after they died. They settled to their own satisfaction that there would be none. They decided that Hell was a myth. They argued that God was a God of love and could not consign His creatures to everlasting punishment.

The conversation stopped when a Chris-tian, who had been a silent listener to the discussion said, ‘‘Suppose it is true after all?’’

The words seemed to fall on the other two with crushing force. The power of God seemed to be behind those words. Solemn silence reigned for many minutes. God had spoken.

Suppose it is true after all that God must punish sin? How would you stand before him? What could you say to him? How would you measure up before the Judge? ‘’Because he hath appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained: whereof He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead’’ (Acts 17:31)

Suppose it is true after all that hell is a reality? A sceptic sneeringly asked. ‘Where is hell?’ The ready and true answer came: ‘At the end of a Christ-rejecting life’ What lies at the end of the life that you are now leading? The scriptures say, ‘It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement’ (Hebrews 9:27).

Suppose it is true after all that the Lord Jesus is the only Saviour and His death the only means by which you can be tted for God’s presence? What if you neglect him? “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3).

Suppose it is true after all that the much -despised ‘blood of Jesus’ is the only thing that can cleanse you from your sins? Has it cleansed you before God, or are you still in your sins going on rapidly to the eternity of the lost? “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7)

Suppose it is true after all, as Scripture states, that salvation is not of works? “By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). What then is all the church-going, Sunday school teaching, sick-visiting and the like worth if you rely on any of these as good works to save or to help to save you? Worse than useless. A fatal mistake, if persisted in. In God’s sight “all our righteous-nesses are as lthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6)

Suppose it is true after all? If it is true, how terrible will be your doom if you ‘die in you sins’ (John 8:24). Come now to Christ and be saved. “Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of re” (Revelation 20:15).

It is true. Act on it.

Chocolate and RaspberryMeringue NestsFebruary is the month of romance and this is a pudding that will surprise and delight the one you love and, also friends. As usual Knockomie's chefs will be offering a special menu over the Valentines weekend and we look forward to welcoming you and your loved one.

Serves 6-8

4 Large Egg Whites225g Caster Sugar25g Cocoa Powder1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence or Paste1 dessertspoon Cornflour1 teaspoon of Vinegar280ml Double Cream250g Fresh Raspberries1 generous slug of Drambuie (or liqueur of your choice)

Method

1. Place the egg whites in a clean dry bowl and whisk with an electric whisk until stiff peaks form. Gradually beat in the caster sugar one spoon at a time until all is mixed into the egg white mix.

2. Sift the cocoa powder in to the egg mixture and stir gently until all mixed together. Sift in the cornflour and mix. Add the vanilla paste / essence and the vinegar. Beat again with the electric whisk, to make sure all is mixed together thoroughly.

3. Line a baking tray with baking parchment and mark out 6 – 8 circles. Place the mixture in to a piping bag with a star shaped nozzle and pipe into a nest shape using the circles as a guide.

4. Bake in a pre heated oven at 110°C for 1 ½ hours. Leave on the tray to cool. The nests will store for up to a week in an airtight container.

5. Whip the cream into soft peaks and add the Drambuie or Liqueur of your choice. Whisk for 20 seconds more to fully blend in the Drambuie.

6. Spoon into the meringue nests and decorate with the fresh raspberries. If you can't get fresh raspberries, you can use frozen. Defrost and drain any juices them and then mix them in to the beaten cream and fill the meringue nests.

Dreamingof...

The former Yugoslavia used to be one of the most popular holiday destinations and Croatia is working hard to promote the country again. Croatia is a Central European and Mediterranean country, bordering Slovenia in the west, Hungary in the north, Serbia in the east and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the south. Croatia has a strange shape (similar to a croissant) - similar to no other country in the world - which comes as a result of five centuries of expansion by the Ottoman (Turkish) empire towards Central Europe (although Croatia was never conquered by the Turks). The 'land of 1,000 islands' with its warm crystal clear seas and luscious Mediterranean vegetation, thick macchi or pine underbush where the sweet fragrance of herbs such as rosemary, myrtle, thyme, sage and lavender mix with the salty sea air. In 1991 Croatia became an independent democracy, its national treasures include Roman relics, medieval walled cities, Byzantine basilicas, 13th century ramparts and 16th century palaces. Cobbled streets in its character-filled towns have chimed to the footsteps of countless generations and bell towers in Baroque churches have rung the changes of a checkered past. See the fabulous mosaics in the Basilica of Euphrasius in Porec, the Dubrovnik ramparts and the Roman ruins at Solin.Dubrovnik has been called the most perfectly preserved medieval city in the world, which has for centuries rivalled Venice as a major trading port. The huge walls, built between the 11th and 17th centuries are still intact. The churches, monasteries, palaces, wide marble-paved squares, steep cobble-stepped streets and houses have remained unchanged for centuries. But Dubrovnik is no museum. It is alive with the comings and goings of people whose homes line the narrow streets and sunlit squares enclosed by massive walls. Take a walk along the stone ramparts of the city for the best views, before venturing inside to experience many treasures. Visit beautiful churches, palaces, interesting museums, markets and bazaars. Crystal clear sea for swimming, snorkelling and diving (there are several recognised dive schools) and lots of island hopping ferries to take you to many of the offshore islets and outcrops. Sailing is a super way to enjoy the coastal seas, and boats and berths can be hired in many little ports. Water skiing and windsurfing are also popular in high season. Little fishing ports are scattered along the coastline – ensuring a fresh supply of seafood for delicious local dishes. Find your own island for a day. Fix a price in advance with a small water taxi, take a picnic and let the 'captain' decide – go in the morning and agree a time to collect you later in the day. Away from the coast, glorious rural scenery lines your route to timeless tiny villages. There are said to be 400 species of fish thriving in local waters. Local dishes include brodeta, mixed fish stew with rice. The Italian influence on Croatia extends to its inexpensive specialities with pizza and pasta dishes in many eateries. Meat specialities include prsut – a parma ham equivalent, served as a starter with local cheese in oil, cevapcici – little rissoles of beef, onion, and herbs and rznjici – pork kebabs. Local wines include some from organic vineyards. From May to October average daily temperatures are above 20oC and average rainfall low, but even in the winter months they don't go below 12oC, which is pleasantly warm, and you can fly direct from Scotland.
