Our Membership Our club is diverse and representative of our broader community. The ages of the

players in our senior First XI team range from sixteen to forty as well as having

strong representation from the twenty to thirty year-old age group. We have a strong

focus on development and are very excited to see our young junior players starting

to progress to the senior teams and we are very proud of our newly formed women’s

team. We are a club that encourages families to participate and we have created a

crèche to keep the younger kids entertained while mums and dads are playing,

barracking, socialising or helping out. Our past players are returning to the club to

support us and the welcoming atmosphere has started to attract walk up traffic to

share in our hospitality and all we have to offer our local community. Our club

membership and affiliates number over 300 people including professionals in event

co-ordination, banking, logistics and a variety of trades, small business owners,

sales representatives, I.T specialists, artists and volunteer workers, uni students and

school children.

We would like to invite you to partner with us on our journey and

together we can become bigger, better and stronger.

INTRODUCTION

The following pages contain the sponsorship options available at the Altona Roosters Cricket Club for season 2013/14. All options are very flexible and packages can be tailored to meet the individual needs of your business. Unlike many community clubs, the Altona Roosters Cricket Club does not seek sponsorship solely as a means to boost club revenue. We do not believe ‘sponsorship’ and ‘donation’ are interchangeable terms. While most other community clubs typically “take the money and put a sign up”, the Altona Roosters Cricket Club is keen to develop long-term relationships with all of its sponsorship partners. Sponsorship is focused on being mutually beneficial to both organisations. It is an excellent way of fostering community goodwill and building a positive community profile. The Altona Roosters Cricket Club is an active member of the local community and our sponsors benefit from that association. The Altona Roosters Cricket Club has assisted many local community families with access to our club facilities and early development of their children through the MILO Have-A-Go program and our Junior Cricket teams. The club’s committee is dedicated to ensuring the club prospers for many seasons to come. At Altona Roosters we pride ourselves on being a family orientated club. We understand that playing sport can be quite expensive for families especially those with more than one child and therefore have tailored our membership fees to make it more affordable for families to be involved. Sometimes this means that the club runs at a loss and the club requires sponsorship to assist with this. We look forward to having you on board and developing a long and prosperous partnership into the future. We hope that with your contribution we can continue to provide a valuable community service to our local youth and sporting enthusiasts.

We are confident that our sponsorship packages will suit your business needs, or if you’re looking for something more flexible, please speak with either Jim Sideris or Nathan Moon, to discuss tailoring your package more specifically to suit your needs as well as those of Altona Roosters Cricket Club.

ABOUT THE CLUB The Altona Roosters Cricket Club began life as the Yarraville Baptist Cricket Club in 1906. To accommodate our growing membership in both our senior and junior ranks, with the support of Hobson’s Bay Council, we relocated to Langshaw Reserve in Fifth Avenue, Altona North in 1997 and changed our name to honour our connection to our new community. The growing strength of the club enabled us to join the premier suburban turf cricket association in the state – the Victorian Turf Cricket Association – in the 2009/2010 season. In the same year, Hobson’s Bay Council provided us with a new pavilion, function and club rooms at Langshaw Reserve.

We currently have two senior teams in the V.T.C.A as well as two senior teams in our traditional competition, the Western Suburban United Churches Cricket Association. This was a challenge for us at first as we did not have a turf wicket at our home ground, however, after several years of dedicated work by our Committee and through the strong relationship that we have built with Hobson’s Bay council, we were able to play our first game at Langshaw Reserve on a new five table turf wicket half way through season 2012/2013.

In fact, Langshaw Reserve Oval was completely redeveloped with a new turf wicket, levelling of the oval, new grass throughout the outfield and a new automatic sprinkler system. With the help of our sponsorship partners, fundraisers and social events, the committee was able to purchase a new cylinder mower and a ride on turf roller to ensure we can maintain our new ground in top class condition.

Much to our delight, the return of our senior cricket team matches to our home ground has led to a resurgence of past players and members visiting our club on a Saturday afternoon to watch the game, reconnect with old friends and enjoy our new club facilities. Not least of all, our club has had numerous sporting achievements. We have had solid

growth in our junior ranks. Parents in the local community recognise we are a club with a

strong future and have shown their faith by supporting our junior programs. In Season

2013/2014 this will consist of a Girl’s under 11’s team and Boys Under 11’s team, Under 13’s

team, Under 15’s team and Under 17’s team. We will also continue our MILO Have-A-Go

Program which the club ran for the first time in Season 2012/2013.

This year we are also very excited to introduce our first Senior Women’s team, which will compete in the North West division of the Victorian Women’s Cricket Association. We are delighted to add this new team to our club profile and welcome our newest members to Altona Roosters. Since joining the V.T.C.A, our two senior turf teams have progressed from division four to

division three and we aspire to continually improve and succeed in the seasons to come,

without ever losing the soul of our club, which is the families, friends and community that are

at our core.

2011-2012 West B1 Runners-Up In Season 2013/2014 the club will again field First XI and Second XI teams in the V.T.C.A. North A1 competition and a Two-day and One-day team in the W.S.U.C.C.A. With the support of our sponsorship partners we can continue to make achievements both

on and off the ground and we would welcome your partnership in our ongoing growth and

success.

Our Juniors

Our junior program has flourished over the last five years under the leadership of Michael and Judy Nolton. This season we will be filling sides in

all age groups including Girls under

11’s and Boys Under 11’s, Under 13’s,

Under 15’s and Under 17’s.

Our quality coaches have guided the

juniors to finals in the Under 13’s and

Under 15’s in each of the last three

seasons.

We believe the juniors are the lifeblood of our club and already twelve of our junior cricketers

have progressed to our senior ranks.

Milo Have-a-Go

The club has established Milo cricket and we hope this will lay the

foundations to develop our young kids’ passion and love for cricket

and for sport in general.

Milo cricket is designed to engage kids in a fun activity while mums

and dads can enjoy the social atmosphere provided by the club.

Women’s Cricket

The Altona Roosters Women’s Cricket team was inspired by a fundraising match for the

McGrath Foundation held in February 2013. In the short time since, through the enthusiasm

and passion of our members, this has grown to become our first Senior Women’s Cricket

team. We wish them a successful inaugural season and hope they have a great time on the

field.
