1. About the Society
The London Legal Forum offers students the
opportunity to discuss, debate and discover some of the
greatest issues facing the legal world.
Students will hear from world class lawyers on current
issues in the industry, begin to understand what they
can bring to the table, network with delegates from law
firms and chambers and enhance application with
knowledge of the real world.
Most importantly, we aim to inspire students with what
a career in law can bring.

3. The Legal Forums
Our central focus will be on organising four Legal
Forums each year. In March 2015, our President
organised a trial forum at which Hugh Tomlinson QC
(Matrix Chambers), Melissa Morbeck (CAADV), Marie
de Redman (Goldsmith Chambers), Emma Bruce
(Pump Court Chambers) and Chris White (Aspiring
Solicitors) spoke. The “Forum” format, which allowed
for two-way discussion and networking, proved very
popular. Thus we plan to organise four similar Forums
along the following lines:
4. Events
Alongside our four Forums, we would like to run weekly
events that are more careers focused but also
complement our central ethos of engaging students in
real issues facing the legal sector. We have brainstormed
three types of events that we could host in partnership:
FOR STUDENTS WHO BRUNCH
Because the early bird catches the worm...
Legally
speaking... A legal insider dissects the
week’s headlines
An evening with...
DISCUSS - DEBATE - DISCOVER
Enjoy a spot of brunch with
students at a trendy London
coffee shop.
A representative of your Firm
discusses current events in a
more informal environment.
A more traditional careers event hosted at Student Central
where students find out more about your Firm.
5. Marketing and Press
We plan to pursue three main avenues to promote
our society. Firstly, we will attend Freshers’ Fairs
organised by the University of London Union, UCL,
KCL, LSE, SOAS, the Courtauld and Queen Mary’s.
Secondly, we have established our digital profile on
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and through our
website and mailing list. Thirdly, we have a
committee member who is dedicated to our internal
relations with careers services and other societies
across the University of London. Finally, we have
connections with Legal Cheek, Inside City Law, the
Bright Network and student newspapers. We are
currently planning interviews and articles to be
published via these channels.

6. Our Sponsorship Proposal
The University of London is a unique organisation
consisting of 120,000 students studying at 27 colleges
or specialist research institutes.
The Legal Forum is the first intercollegiate law society
which allows us to make you a very special offering: we
can connect you with the brightest and most engaged
future lawyers studying in London.
Not only do we offer a relationship with each college
but we are also directly connected to the services
offered by the University of London, most notably “The
Careers Group”.
Through our holistic approach of organising events that
would appeal to non-law as well as law students, we
aim to attract students who might not have otherwise
considered a legal career as well as those who are
actively pursuing one, giving you the widest possible
reach.

8. Final words
Thank you for taking the time to read our proposal and for considering sponsoring the University of London Legal Forum. As a new society we will not receive funding from the University of London for twelve months and so we are largely reliant on corporate sponsorship to fund our events. We therefore value our relationship with you extremely highly and hope to build a strong partnership for years to come. We are extremely committed to making the Legal Forum a great success and we hope that you will join us at the beginning of this exciting journey. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact George Clough at [email protected]
