Hectaren

Also Known As: WaspsAppearance: Probably the less insect-like Race of 

Insectoids, the build of Hectaren is surprisingly humanoid.That said, their eyes are multifaceted and their mouth onlylooks normal when closed. Their exoskeleton, thinner among

Insectoids, is colored in bright yellow and black and their claws are not as deadly as the stings coming out of their forearms.

Architecture:Arts & Entertainment:Calendar:Crime & Legal System:Daily Life: Even though they can be overprotective

when it comes to the safety of the hive, Hectaren can be quitepleasant, at least compared to other Insectoids. More acceptingof jokes on their expense, they are hard to anger, but will dietrying to deal with an offender.

Diet & Eating Customs:Fashion & Dress:Foreign Relations: Though they spend most of their 

time with others of their kind in the hive, Hectaren can be seenin the company of others, usually non-Insectoids. They serveas healers most of the time but it seems to be just a trend,nothing more. When it comes to other Insectoids, especiallyUrakten, they tend to be rather edgy.

Favored Classes:Government: Ruled by a Queen, Hectaren society and

hierarchy are identical to a bee hive. Males are only used for breeding, while the workers and warriors are female. Somewould say its a male's paradise, but Hectaren view them as

lesser beings since they offer little to the hive.Magic & Technology:Medicine:Philosophy:Population: Able to reach the age of 100, Queens are

the longest living Hectaren. Workers tend to reach 80, whilewarriors usually go up to 60. Male Hectaren live only up to 50,something nobody minds really as they outlive their use around45. Queens have special markings on their exoskeleton andwings.

Nathran

Also Known As: Spiders, WebheadsAppearance: Featuring the trademark exoskeleton of 

Insectoids, eight limbs, usually four legs and four arms, andequal number of eyes, the Nathran do not hide the fact theylook like overgrown spiders. Sometimes hairy or with various

markings on their bodies, Nathran have composite mouths andclawed hands.

Architecture: Like normal spiders, the Nathran buildtheir webs to create a place called home, of course materialsfound in nature are also used and their webs resembletreehouses and huts more than anything. Remaining true totheir nature however, the webs form a pattern, that alwaysfollows the running hierarchy.

Nathran is that they are creepy, thats simply a side effect of being Insectoids and spider looking ones at that. IndividualNathran can show character traits from the whole rangeavailable to other races. Most of them however are consideredmore harsh than your average inhabitant of Mithbar.

Diet & Eating Customs:Fashion & Dress:Foreign Relations: Even though they spend most of 

their time among their kind, Nathran are not anti-social or xenophobic, not as a whole at least. Their attitude to outsidersvaries from Web to Web and someone may be an honoredguest in one, dinner in the next. Exceptions to that rule areTrolls that are considered a rare treat no matter the Web.

Favored Classes:Government: Lets get something clear, Nathran

hierarchy makes no sense to anyone that is not part of the race.Their model seems to base rank on things that range from sizeand genetic traits, to renown and a myriad of other stuff nobody could really keep track on. Age seems to play a vitalrole as well, but only because of practical reasons.

Magic & Technology:Medicine:Philosophy: Nobody is surprised that almost all

Nathran join Order aligned orders. Some may deviate byjoining Might or Nature ones, but no Nathran ever joined aChaos or Life aligned order. Most Nathran prefer to stayunaligned than joining one of these orders.

Population: Able to live only up to the age of 75,Nathran start their lives clawing their way out of a cocoon of webs. Then, they have to fight among their siblings for their first meal, that in the case of some especially vicious Nathran,is their siblings. As they grow older they gain size and getmore spider-like.

Ov'ra

Also Known As: AntsAppearance: Looking like the offspring of a Human

and an over-sized ant, the Ov'ra unnerve most other Races. sixlimbs and the trademark exoskeleton of an insect make themstand out in a crowd. Multi-faceted, and sometimes multiple,

eyes and a composite mouth complete the image.Architecture:Arts & Entertainment:Calendar:Crime & Legal System:Daily Life: Secretive and aloof, the Ov'ra like to keep

things to themselves, be it wealth or knowledge. They don'tlike manual labor so they employ the drone-like Th'avron tobuild their cities and generally serve them. When a problemarises, all the Ov'ra in the area will move to help.

Diet & Eating Customs:Fashion & Dress:Foreign Relations: They live in hive-cities and rarely

leave them. When they visit cities of other Races, they do notinteract with the natives much but go straight to their objectives. Some take the role of informer and spend yearsaway from the hive, but still connected.

Favored Classes:Government: The Hive reigns supreme. Since the Ov'ra

have a collective mind, every single one of them is King or Queen and loyal subject at the same time. In times of need, asecondary hive is created to protect the unity of the race. Sinceonly a few can breed, they are considered leaders, but it isinformal at best.

Magic & Technology:

Medicine:Philosophy:Population: With a lifespan of only 50 years, the Ov'ra

are mere passengers on Mithbar. Their armored hides makethem pretty hard to kill and as they age, it only grows thicker.They spend the first five years as larvae and after that they taketheir adult form.

Th'avron

Also Known As: BuildersAppearance: Like all Insectoids, they have an

exoskeleton, of varying color, and six limbs. Some have a hornon their forehead between their composite eyes. Strongpowerful jaws can smash almost anything, letting their 

composite mouths sort out the edible parts.Architecture:Arts & Entertainment:Calendar:Crime & Legal System:Daily Life: Drone like, the Th'avron are good at

following orders. With no personality of their own, they haveno morals and will do anything asked, even if it puts their livesto danger. In a fight, they are aggressive and will bring thetarget down at any cost.

Diet & Eating Customs:Fashion & Dress:Foreign Relations: Without a hierarchy of their own,

the beetle-like Th'avron follow whoever their master is, usuallyother Insectoids, with Ov'ra being the most common case.They follow orders blindly and will stop at nothing till theysucceed. More often than not, they are the slaves in the societythey are in.

Favored Classes:Government: Th'avron only leave the grounds of their 

masters to fight. Apart from the Ov'ra, they don't interact withother Races in a peaceful way, except maybe for other Insectoids. Th'avron societies are tightly structured andisolated from the outer world.

Magic & Technology:

Medicine:Philosophy:Population: Short lived, partly as a failsafe in their 

genes, Th'avron can only reach the age of 30. They maturereally quickly and once they reach adulthood, at the age of 3,they start getting bigger and stronger until they die. Thanks toOv'ra engineering, they won't go against them unless a morepowerful will controls the beetle-like brutes.

Urakten

Also Known As: ScorpionsAppearance: The largest and most unnerving of 

Insectoids, the scorpion-like Urakten have eight limbs, two of them pincers that can cut through almost anything. They arecovered completely by an exoskeleton and their tail ends in a

deadly sting most fear more than the pincers. Usually black or red in color, with multifaceted eyes and composite mouths.

Architecture:Arts & Entertainment:Calendar:Crime & Legal System:Daily Life: The Urakten are not pleasant to be around,

not even if you are one of them. Only exception to that rule iswhen they are searching for a mate, it is then when they canspend more than a few weeks next to someone without feelingthe urge to dismember them. They don't have a sense of humor unless you consider bloody body parts funny.

Diet & Eating Customs:Fashion & Dress:Foreign Relations: Urakten are very social, well not

really... but nobody dares say anything else. Usually foundworking as either very crude assassins, or very effectivebodyguards. Nobody actually likes them, but most find a usefor them. Unless on a job, they are left alone and for goodreason.

Favored Classes:Government: No hierarchy model would ever work for 

the Urakten, their predatory nature makes it nearly impossiblefor them to follow orders unless there is a very good reason. Itsevery bug for itself and they wouldn't have it any other way.

That said, even the most foolish Urakten will ask “how high” if the Guardian or Keeper says “jump”.

Magic & Technology:Medicine:Philosophy:Population: Among the longest living Insectoids,

Urakten can reach the age of 100, if not killed before time for one reason or the other. As they age, their exoskeleton growsthicker and they gain size as well go from almost Humanoid toalmost completely Insectoid. Their tail appears only after their second decade of life.
