Couples planning on getting married in Washington must obtain a marriage license at the county level.
There is a three-day waiting period before the wedding can take place, and the license is valid for 60 days.
In Clallam County, marriage licenses are available at the County Auditor’s Office, 223 E. Fourth St. in Port Angeles.
Both parties must be present and no appointment is necessary. Current picture ID is required.
Additional information can be found online at www.clallam.net or by phoning 360-417-2220.
In Jefferson County, an online application for a marriage license to be filled out by both parties can be found at www.co.jefferson.wa.us. Navigate to the auditor’s department.
While the form can be filled out online, both parties still must visit the office together and provide valid identification to obtain the marriage license.
For more information on marriage licensing in Jefferson County, phone 360-385-9115.
If one or both parties cannot make it into either the Clallam or Jefferson audi-tors’ offices to complete paperwork, an “Application For Marriage License By Mail” must be completed and signed in front of a notary public.
Links to the printable application form can be found on either county’s website. The license is only valid for weddings that are performed within Washington. If you’re planning to marry outside the state or nation, contact that area for its
license requirements — every place is different.
DON’T FORGETObtaining a marriage license is a crucial step to saying ‘I do’

Where to go? What to do? How to pull it off?Red Lion Hotel and other local businesses are here
to help you find the answers and turn your wedding into the spectacular event that you envision.
It’s time for the North Olympic Peninsula’s 2015 wedding show, “Love … Locally Inspired,” in the Red Lion Hotel’s ballroom, 221 N. Lincoln St. in Port Angeles, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28.
Admission to the show is free.
LOCAL RESOURCES AND TALENT“Love … Locally Inspired,” the theme carried over
from last year, captures the essence and intent of the show.
The show will highlight resources and talent on the Peninsula that can make your wedding a success.
“We have been approached by a couple dozen businesses, mostly Seattle-based wedding photogra-phers, to participate,” said Red Lion Hotel catering sales manager Lindsay Fox, who is coordinating the event.
“We turned them away, because we want to keep this ‘local’ — this side of the Sound.”
For the show, Fox extended invitations to include vendors from Clallam and Jefferson counties to Kitsap.
VENDORS GALORERed Lion has lined up an array of North Olympic
Peninsula businesses.Local photographers who will participate include
Fleur de Lis, Adrien Craven Photography, Angie Jean Photography and Daniel Horton Photography.
Red Lion Hotel will put out a spread featuring its catering services, and Sequim caterer Maggie May’s
Espresso & Outfitter will also be there.Olympic National Park and Olympic National
Forest event and hospitality coordinator Aramark will have a representative among the venue and event planners expected.
Also, there offering their services to manage the devil in the details will be local wedding coordina-tors and planners Breva Funston of Love Note Services in Sequim, Rachel Collman of Delightful Details in Hansville and Rae Anne Spence of Alpine Ridge Events in Port Angeles.
Funston will be sharing a booth with An Elegant Touch Chocolate Fountains’ co-owners Debbie Moore and Christine Aunspach, with whom she has had a long-term business relationship.
“[Breva Funston] was the wedding planner we both hired for our daughters’ weddings,” Moore said.
Sequim-based Elegant Touch’s chocolate fountains are a fixture at weddings and events throughout the state.
A Seahawks-themed fountain at a recent Brides Club Tacoma Wedding Show was a big hit with event goers and even received a thumbs up from the Seattle Seahawks when an image was posted on Facebook.
“We decided to do something different and went all-out-Seahawks complete with a blue chocolate fountain and Skittles,” said Moore.
Elegant Touch is equipped to handle anything from intimate birthday parties to a small-business grand opening to as many as 6,000 guests at a Microsoft party.
“We have been doing wedding shows in Seattle and Tacoma for many years, and when the Red Lion show came up last year, we decided it was a great opportunity,” Moore said.
FINISHING TOUCHESExpect aesthetician Bernadette Teel of Beautiful
You Makeup Artistry, Younique cosmetics presenter Tash Bruch and Mary Kay beauty consultant Brenda Tisdale to have tips on getting the look perfect.
Teel, who is sharing a booth with photographer Kimberly Butler of Fleur De Lis, will have digital
and print samples of her work and price lists. Teel and Butler will partner for a free photo
session giveaway, and Teel is also donating a set of Flutter mink lashes as a door prize raffle.
“And treats,” Teel said. “Always treats of some kind!”Black Diamond Bridal owner Belva Bodey will
be bringing her expertise on bridal gowns. Bodey’s display last year highlighted the pitfalls and scams of ordering online.
AND MUCH MOREIn addition to floral displays and decorating ideas,
vendors who design invitations and provide printing services are also expected.

So beautiful are the gowns this year with their lovely backs plunging low enough to show off the low nape of the back — long considered to be one of the loveliest areas of a woman’s figure.
These delicate and tasteful gowns allow a groom’s hand to touch bare skin as he guides his bride to the dance floor for the first dance.
While some dress backs are complete-ly bare, other gowns feature a design with sheer netting and lace leaving just a hint of this sensual area.
This wedding season’s gowns feature lace of many styles.
Soft chantilly laces grace shoulders and necklines, and white alencon, Ven-ice and re-embroidered lace cover the body of gowns designed into sheaths, trumpets and mermaid skirts.
While white is still desirable along with ivory, champagnes, golds, peaches and the palest of pinks take on new flavor to add a new depth of color to gowns bringing with them hues meant to compliment a bride’s skin and hair.
Necklines have taken on a new dimension with illusion coverage to carry crystals, rhinestones and more upwards to a bride’s collar bone.
Gracing beautiful shoulders, we have seen the return of straps and off-the-shoulder cap sleeves.
Quality dresses allow for design changes to turn gowns into a one-of-a-kind piece. Changing a neckline, taking out a zipper and choosing to have a corset back are possible.
Changing the color of a dress’ fabric or selecting a different lace are changes that a bride can request to create a design she can call her own.
Accessories including delicate jewelry, beautiful lace sashes and fabu-lous shoes in new and delightful shades
Wedding attire trends to watch
are available and sure to complement any wedding colors.
Gentlemen will find an array of tuxedo, tie and bow tie colors to choose from, including distinguished grays, tans and browns.
