POLL QUESTION #1
OrchestrationOverview
Definition of Orchestration and LSO
Orchestration is the automated arrangement, coordination, and management of computer systems,
middleware, and services. It defines the policies and service levels through automated workflows,
provisioning, and change management. This creates an application-aligned infrastructure that can be
scaled up or down based on the needs of each application. Orchestration also provides centralized
management of the resource pool.
LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration) is the set of MEF-defined specifications enabling standardized
service orchestration based on standardized lifecycles of end-to-end connectivity services across one
or more network service domains. LSO, in combination with SDN and NFV, is designed to enable the
Third Network vision (Dynamic Services & Self-Serve).
LSO Functions (MEF 55): Service Design, Order Fulfillment and Service Control, Service Testing,
Service Problem Management, Service Quality Management, Billing and Usage Management, Security,
Policy-based Management, Customer Management, Partner Management.
