About Jim Nienow

Ask people about Jim Nienow and you will see a smile come across their face and hear a smile in their voice. Jim Nienow was known for a very kind heart behind his equally well-known gruff voice and firm handshake. Jim began with Roofmaster Products on May 1, 1957. At the time of his death on May 22, 1990, he was Vice President. Revealingly, Jim was in charge of both sales and the shop. Jim’s specialty was in helping the Roofing Industry. It did not matter whether it was a problem with a competitor’s piece of equipment or the need for something completely new and innovative. Jim was who you knew you could turn to, either to fix it himself or to give instruction. And how Jim loved the game of golf! The Roofing Industry lost a one-of-a-kind luminary when we lost Jim. This tournament began as our tribute to the man and the best that he represented. It has since become the source of funding for the Jim Nienow Memorial Scholarships, awarded each year to members of the RCA, including their families and employees.

Since 1993, we have recognized the achievements of 109 students. Over the last five years, we have awarded over

$100,000.00 to deserving students.
