Newsletter Editor: Regina Graham

Hello ladies of SWC and welcome to September! This month, I wanted to give you an update on the SWC membership. On February 12, 2020 we had a total of 155 members with 20 of them being new members. On March 11, 2020, right before Covid, we had 175 total with 27 of them being new.

Now, at the end of August, we have 181 members with 33 of them being new. Those numbers were surprising to me. Despite Covid, many closings, social distancing, and a variety of other limitations, we continued to grow. That showed me a spirit of hope and optimism with regard to the future! I certainly share that optimism.

On another note which also involves membership, I have always been curious which streets had the most members. So here are your top 10 streets:

17 White Oak Bluff 15 Southbridge Blvd 10 Crestwood Drive 8 Woodside Crossing 7 Myrtlewood Drive 7 Steeplechase Rd 6 Steeple Run Way

6 Woodchuck Hill Rd 6 Wedgefield Crossing

There are 5 streets with 5 members: Bluegrass Lane, Cedar Point Drive, Hickory Grove Way, Lane, Hickory Grove Point, Woodside Ridge So if you ever wondered, there it is! Have a great September and stay safe!

The Service Club– by Claudia Lohaus

The Service Club is currently planning to have a September Meeting at Vickery ‘s Banquet Room on 09/15/2020 at 10:00 AM. Masks are required and the room will be set up for social distancing. Please RSVP to Claudia Lohaus via text message 301-252-1911 or email [email protected].

Even though they have not been able to meet, the Service Group continues to help many groups further their cause:

Homeless Shelter

Second Harvest annual peanut butter drive

The House of Hope has worked hard to increase their living space to be able to help more trafficked young women. We collected many household items for their new addition.

These items were picked up on July 10th by Director Darcelle Burandt.

Children’s Advocacy Center

We have some future projects to work on during the coming months. We will again put together Health and Hygiene Packets for the “Homeless” and Theresa Pugh will have some ideas for the Outreach Program coming soon.

Thanks to everyone in the SWC, for your continued support and generosity. Sandy Anderson 912-655-0875 Claudia Lohaus 301-252-1911 Jackie Occiano 410-370-2316 Theresa Pugh (Outreach) 973-975-7549

Like to brighten someone's day? We would love to send

a "get well" or "sympathy" card to those ladies in need

in the neighborhood. Just let Malinda Smith know by

email, text, or phone call.

Have A

Of News We are scheduled off for the summer and will resume in September with the Water is Wide by Pat Conroy.

Gabby Gourmet III– by Joan David

Chicks With Sticks is currently not meeting regularly due to COVID concerns. A few of us get together for needlework as often as possible, masks & social distancing respected. We've been working on several projects.

The Photoholics took a bit of a break from its typical outing and spent some time relaxing at the River House of SWC member, Debra Niven. While on floats and enjoying breezes, views, and a hearty lunch from Larry's Subs, we "Ahhhed" our cares away for a little while. Join us the second Tuesday of the month for a great time. No experience Necessary!

The Photoholics– by Liz Casella

Janee Przybyl and Jane Radley hosted a GG3 Pool Party on 8/5/20. Around fifteen club members attended and enjoyed swimming and sharing appetizers . Due to Covid, social distancing was observed and certain foods such as dips were restricted from the menu. Janee gave a hands on demonstration on folding towels in a spa like fashion that would enhance bathrooms and pool areas. It was a great time to reflect on good times we’ve shared and times that will come in the near future.

You’re the reason SWC works, grows and makes things happen --

all for the betterment of our friendships and community.

Here are our Interest Groups at a glance. There are plenty of opportunities to form new interest groups this year as well.
