* Willing to learn and being the best I can be * Showing respect and concern for others The school’s annual Faction Athletics Carnival took place last Friday, 15th September. The carnival events started at 9.15am with the 200m races followed by the age races. A great deal of cheering was heard over the wonderful commentary from Mrs Falco. Lots of points earned for factions, photos taken of happy kids and excited mums and dads to congratulate their kids at the finish line. The weather was superb, the day’s events were held under a warm sky with a lovely breeze. Points were added to the jumps and throwing events run earlier in the week and the results checked and double checked before Mr Harvey announced Championship Winners and Runner Up and finally the winning faction. All day the points were close with only 15 points separating first and second faction at the end of all the relay events. Congratulations to all students who participated in events on the day. You all showed great sportsmanship and team work. Thanks to all the parents and friends who came along to watch on the day. Also a huge thanks to Imogen and Issac, local Yr 12 students who were place judges. The biggest thanks to Mrs Hutton and staff for making the day a great success. The Library Needs You!

Bookcovering Afternoon Wednesday 18th October 1:30pm

The library has recently taken delivery of a large consignment of new readers for our junior classes. Before they can be put to good use, they need to be covered. So please come along for a few hours on Wednesday 18th October to the Transportable

behind the library and lend a hand. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided to keep your energy levels up!

Tips and help will be on hand for novice book coverers, so don't be shy...

Library Help Needed

As you know, our school has been participating in Woolworths Earn & Learn. The program has now finished for this year, so a

big thanks to everyone who supported our school. We're now at the important stage of the program where the Sticker Sheets are

collected and lodged as our Earn & Learn claim. We will then be able to get new educational equipment for our school. The more

we collect, the more we can redeem. So this week, please send in your Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheets and any loose

Earn & Learn stickers you may have. Remember to check your handbag, the car glove box or they maybe stuck on the fridge.

Every little bit helps.

Thanks again for all your support!

Virtues Program

Meaning

Moderation is creating a balance in your life between work

and play, rest and exercise. It is having or doing enough

of something—not too much, not too little but what’s just

right for you. Moderation is being incharge and using

self—discipline to keep from doing too much or too little.

Signs Of Moderation

You are practising moderation when you

Know what you need and get enough—no more and no less.

Take care of your health.

Use self—discipline to stop yourself from overdoing.

Know your limits and set boundaries.

Are content with enough.

This year the Fun Run is taking on Sunday October 15th. We would love as many students and families to take part as possible! This year there is a 2km run for the younger students and also a 5km run and walk and 10km run for any

older students or staff wanting a challenge! Notes will come to ALL classes this week, so stay tuned for more details.

Dear Parents,

We are asking your help to support the children in our school who are at risk of anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that is potentially life threatening.

Food allergies are the most common cause of anaphylaxis. There is no cure for food allergy, therefore avoidance of known food allergens is crucial. Peanuts and tree nuts are the foods most likely to cause anaphylaxis.

The school is supporting children at risk of anaphylaxis by:

training staff,

encouraging children to wash their hands after eating,

educating children about food allergies, and

choosing not to sell foods in the school canteen which have peanuts or tree nuts (e.g. hazelnuts, cash-ews, almonds etc) in the main ingredients list.

We ask you to support children at risk of anaphylaxis by:

not sending food which has peanuts or tree nuts (eg hazelnuts, cashews, almonds etc) in the main ingredients list. Note: products containing traces of peanuts or tree nuts can be sent to school.

teaching your child not to share food with friends that have food allergy,

encouraging your child to wash their hands after eating,

asking your child to get help immediately if their allergic schoolmate gets sick, and

explaining to your child that teasing a child with an allergy or tampering with their medication, is bully-ing and could be life-threatening.

With your help we can provide a safe environment that meets the needs of all our children.
