I am thrilled to share
with you that in
August we will begin
a new time of worship
on Tuesday evenings
at 7pm. It will be
called: CAFÉ worship
(a bi-lingual
contemporary worship
experience). I am so
pleased that all 8 of
our Spanish speaking
families have agreed
to assist in starting
this new worship
service.
The Patrono family
(Marcelo, Estela, and
Abby) will be
providing a great deal
of the up-front
leadership in leading
music, praise, and
teaching, while many
others will provide
support. We will need
support in ushers,
greeters, music,
translation, set-up,
clean-up, and running
the coffee bar which
will happen at 6:30pm.
Please let me or
Marcos know if you are
willing to assist.
The entire experience
will happen in Ratcliff
Hall with the coffee bar
at 6:30pm and worship
at 7:00pm. The coffee
bar will feature
espresso, coffee, latte,
etc. along with some
Hispanic delicacies.
Worship will be
focused around
contemporary Christian
music (similar to what
you will hear on
Christian FM (91.9)
here in Vero Beach),
prayer, and

Pamela (Pat) Reiner is a nurse and business owner of My Visiting Nurse, a Home
Health Agency in Vero. Raised in the Presbyterian Church, Pat is from Baltimore MD and
moved to Vero in 1984. When not working in her business or assisting in her husband’s
dental practice she can be found playing bridge, sculpting, painting, gardening, attending
movies or best of all traveling!
Patricia (Pat) Brown grew up in Baltimore, MD and moved to Vero years ago joining the
staff of Flight Safety. She retired from there after 35 years of service. Raised in the Catholic
Church, Pat describes her love of church and strong faith as driving factors in her life. She
comes to CBTS with two young sons, Garrett age 11 and Gabriel age four (whom we are so
pleased to welcome as well).
Rev. Virginia (Ginny) Carle called the Catskill Mountains of NY home. She
holds a BS in Nursing from Plattsburg State, worked at Duke Medical Center, and was
a Commissioned Officer in the USAF. Along the way she was a nursing instructor at
Albany Medical Center, a Choir Director at Reservoir UMC and received a M. Div.
and M. Phil. From Drew University. For over 35 years she served churches in NY and
CT. Already she has accepted an important CBTS assignment leading our 2018 Costa
Rica Mission Trip.
Carol Gantter describes herself as a“Metholic” as she enjoys worshipping with her
husband of 57 years Saturday evenings at the Catholic Church and at CBTS Sundays. She
attended Drew Seminary at the urging of her good friend Ginny Carle (see above) and has
a worked as a Hospice Counselor since 1988. August 2016 she made Vero her home and
is looking forward to “becoming involved”.
D. Jean (Jean) Tisdall was raised in West Virginia but then spent 32 years
in the Philadelphia area. Following her retirement from Aetna Health Insurance in 2013 she
moved to Vero. A lifelong Methodist upon moving to Vero she did g an extensive search for
a church home and chose CBTS being grateful for the message and music. She identifies
music, theater, Mahjong, reading movies and volunteering as great interests.
Meet the New Members
In June we were privileged to welcome four new members and one retired Methodist Clergy
to our church family.

Naomi House Added to CBTS’ Serve Ministry
Many people erroneously assume that Indian River County has services available
for homeless women. Some think that the Women’s Refuge Network of Vero
Beach offers these services, but it does not. That is a counselling facility, not an
emergency shelter for homeless women. Others think that Safe Space is such a
ministry. It is not. It is a refuge for battered women to escape domestic violence
with their children. There are many women living on their own who suddenly find
themselves without housing for a variety of reasons, including financial problems
from large medical bills, loss of housing after caregiving for a family member who
passes away, mental health issues, etc. Many Vero churches recognized this need
because such women would suddenly be living unsafely on the streets and come to
local churches for help. For shelter, such women would have to be referred to
Melbourne to find a facility that would accommodate them. So, the churches recognized the need, banded
together and, along with private donations, pooled their resources and purchased Naomi House, a facility
which will accommodate up to 16 women.
Christ by the Sea (CBTS) donated our Christmas offering to help purchase this property. The real estate
transaction was finalized in February and CBTS offered a team of volunteers who painted the facility,
furnished it, moved in the furnishings and outfitted it for occupancy with linens and housewares. It was
dedicated on May 22.
At the June 2017 Serve Team Meeting, the team voted to make Naomi House an ongoing ministry. We are grateful that Steve and Kathy Barth have agreed to represent us as liaisons to the advisory board.. Please welcome Steve and Kathy to their new roles as ministry leaders. Naomi House will be managed on a day-to-
basis by Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council and will receive advisory support from the board composed of the participating church representatives.

ENDOWMENT / TRUSTEES
Roy Daniel our current head of the Endowment Committee has asked me to share with you some of the things the interest from the Endowment funds does for our church. In the last 3 years the following major projects have been completed: replacement of the north wing roof A/C, replacement of the music suite A/C, new roof for the Parsonage, replacement of the A/C for the new church offices in the Greytwig house, new choir chairs, new orchestra chairs, new stage extensions, update of the electronic controls for lighting, sound, and video for the sanctuary, new phone system to connect new church offices with our existing building, new signage for both buildings, installation of a step septic system for Greytwig and last but not least the nursery renovation for our smallest members. Your Trustees recommend to the Finance Committee and Church Council where the funds from the Endowment Committee should be spent. We value your input. We are, with the help of the Long Range Planning Committee, looking at updating our bathrooms and updating the outdoor lighting.
The Endowment Fund interest is essential for us to maintain and improve our physical plant. Our thanks go to all who have contributed to the Endowment Fund and to those who will contribute in the future.
Nancy Hamilton Trustee Chair
Update to the repair of the stain glass windows. The Pickel Studios are working on the restoration of the stain glass. The
additional $14,000 received from outside the church will be used to add clear laminated glass for a protective covering for the damaged windows as well as the existing windows.

Welcome Delma Hogan
We would like to introduce Delma Hogan our new Church Bookkeeper. Delma will be transitioning into Mary Lazarides position through July 12th. We keep Mary in our prayers as she begins her new journey.
Delma is from Fort Pierce, Florida. She is the middle daughter of three children. She enjoys arts and crafts and many genres of music. Her favorite things are working with numbers and doodling. She grew up singing in the church choir and playing the piano for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and weekly church services. She accepted Jesus into her heart at age nine; and, strives daily to live a life that pleases the Lord. Join us in welcoming Delma. You can reach Delma at 772/231-1661 extension 309, Monday through Thursday, 9am – 1pm.
We are blessed to have her join our staff. —— CBTS Staff Family and Friends.

A Message from the UMW President
I pray that you are all enjoying the start of summer . I would like to share happy news with you, at
our last meeting we were asked if the UMW could help little Liana Rosa from our Sister church in
Cuba with funds to travel to Havana for eye surgery. Liana was born with one eye. Liana has had
her surgery. Thank you to all who helped make this possible.
