the love of God in our community
comes from Jesus, after all.
In the meantime, Mrs. Jones and I
are rearranging furniture,
planning where to put the
refreshments, and running our
vacuum cleaner throughout the
place. Please come and enjoy the
Open House; our address is 1310
White Heron Lane. Parking is
available on our street. We will
send out the gate code that
Sunday in church.
Let’s plan to have fun. I can’t
wait to introduce you to our
neighbors!
( episode #9 ) Me and Mrs. Jones are
excited about the Open
House we are having at the
parsonage on Sunday, March
8th, from 3-5:00 pm. We have
been living in this beautiful
beachside home for eight
months now, and we can
hardly wait to share it with
the congregation who so
graciously provides it for us.
But there’s another reason
we will have the Open House
in March. It’s part of the
rollout of our “Campaign
Against Loneliness.” We are
not only inviting the
members of Christ by the Sea
to attend; we are also
welcoming our neighbors.
The Open House is going to
be a kind of “test case” for
what we hope will become a
regular practice of our church
this year. We want to
encourage our members to
host an open house for your
community or condominium.
Count on the church to help
supply refreshments, music,
and invitations. It’s a way for
us to get off of our campus
and make friendly
relationships with greater
Vero Beach.
That’s the plan. Of course,
the scope and extent of our
new outreach program hang
on the success of this year’s
stewardship campaign:
“Stepping Out in Faith.” We
are all encouraged to
increase our pledge by five
percent (or more). Last year
we took a financial hit; we
went backward in our funding
of the ministry. This year –
more than ever – we need to
move forward. As
uncertainty seems to cloud
the future of the United
Methodist denomination, we
must be very clear and very
committed to the ministry of
our local church. Our call to
make disciples and spread

Teddy & Delilah Hull
Teddy and Delilah Hull - Teddy grew up in Pompano and had a career in farming and finance. Delilah grew up in PA, but moved to FL when she was 6. She was in the medical profession. They moved to Vero Beach in June of last year. They decided to join CBTS after being visitors for many years.
Joaquin Luza
Joaquin Luza is 16 years old and attends Vero Beach High School in the 10th grade. He is learning to play piano with Marcos
and he has helped Miguel in the AV booth since last year.
Ana Luza
Ana Luza has been attending CBTS for 4 years. She has been active with the Liturgical Dancers for the past 3 years. Her son,
Joaquin, assists Miguel each Sunday in the AV booth. She looks forward to being even more active at CBTS.
Mike Ross
Mike is 74 years old and lived in northern Idaho for 48 years on top of a mountain with no utilities or neighbors. He became
a permanent resident of Vero Beach 18 years ago having visited his parents here often. He recently joined the choir at Christ
By The Sea and is excided to join the church as well.
Women's Refuge Get-To-Know-Us Luncheon Monthly luncheons are a great opportunity to discover what makes Wom-en's Refuge of Vero Beach a special and unique ministry. The Women’s Refuge provides a live-in Christian program where hurting women can find sanctuary in a healing environment. It also provides healing and whole-ness to emotionally and spiritually wounded men, women and families in our community through biblical counseling. Luncheons are free of cost and are held typically once a month on Wednesdays from 12-1:30pm. As you enjoy a delicious meal, the staff and residents share the mission of Women's Refuge, personal testimonies, the history over the last 20 years and the vision that God has given them for the future. Following lunch, take a tour of their serene campus and facilities. You are welcome any-time and we encourage you to bring a friend! Reservations only please.
For more information or to make a reservation, please call the Women's Refuge office at (772)770-4424.

Shining Light Garden is a shining light for CBTS
As most of you are aware, The Shining Light Garden has
been a serve ministry for many years. We have support-
ed this ministry with funding and volunteers. This is a
garden for the community, but not a community garden!
It is 100% volunteer and a 100% give away garden!
Located west of 66th Ave on 49th street, the current farm
is 20 acres of produce and flowers , all donated to the
needy in Indian River County. Fresh vegetables are do-
nated to local church food pantries, soup kitchens, sen-
iors, schools, veterans and other food assistance programs in the county. The farm raises avoca-
dos, arugula, beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots , cauliflower, collards, cucumbers, eggplant,
herbs, Kale, lettuce, mustard greens, okra, onions, mangoes, peanuts, peas, peppers, potatoes, rad-
ishes, rutabagas, swiss chard, tomatoes, watermelon, yellow squash, and zucchini! Thousands of
bushels of produce are given away annually. In addition flowers are raised for VNA Hospice as well
as assisted living facilities throughout the county.
Volunteers are always needed and there is always a job to fit individual abilities---planting seeds (all
produce is seed grown on site), washing produce, working the fields, or harvesting the crops.
There is a job for everyone! Of course there are always donations needed to support this worthy
cause. Reaching out to the homeless, hungry and forgotten in our community, your help is always
appreciated. Call Joel Brey, Director at 772-539-3752 to schedule a time for a tour or visit. You can
contact me anytime for further information! It is a beautiful place and a worthy cause doing Gods’
work! You can also visit the website ShiningLightFoundation.com.
Peace! Dave Althoff

The Food Pantry set up in 2017 in Ratcliff Hall is to primarily help those Seniors and Veterans living around the Church that do not have sufficient money for food to last the month. The Food Pantry is not vetted, so anyone in the community can come and take what they need. We ask that those in need take only one bag of food so that others can help themselves, also.
Please pick up any nonperishable food items when you see the BOGO - Buy One Get One - sales at the grocery store and bring to the Church for the Food Pantry. Please put all donations in the Food Bin next to the Pantry so that Liz Jaffe, and Stu and Diane Keiller can check for expiration dates before putting the items on the shelves. There is a list of suggested items to donate on the top shelf of the food pantry. We are always in need of food for those less fortunate. Please consider giving to the Food Pantry at Church and help to provide the "Open Table" mission of CBTS.
Best regards,
Diane Keiller
