REVIEWS OF RECENT EVENTSSongsalive! Sydney Workshop – Oct. 5th - A small but dedicated group ofmembers turned up for the workshop. Four different songs were presented - wewere reminded to "hug our children" as we never know what tomorrow willbring; we listened to an historical tale of Australia's convict past and thehardships faced; we heard a beautiful upbeat love song based on the conceptof "If Only" and lastly we enjoyed a very very sweet love song - literally!

of If Only , and lastly we enjoyed a very, very sweet love song literally!Songsalive! Sydney Workshop – Nov. 2nd - As it does every year, theSongsalive! November workshop fell on Melbourne Cup day, so we decided torun a little ‘race’ of our own. (For our non-Australian members, the MelbourneCup is a prestigious horse race which is akin to a religious event – the entirecountry literally stops for 3 minutes while the race is run.) We had a quiz withquestions based on songs and music with a horse/gambling theme. It was a lot

of fun and we had some great prizes and we’ll probably look at doing more ofthis kind of thing in future workshops. Of course, we also did some critiquing! There were only four songs, so we were able to give each one plenty ofattention. What’s great about the song critiquing is not only that you get to hearfeedback and explore a range of options, but also that quite often your musicand songwriting knowledge and skill are expanded by having more experiencedsongwriters share their advice
