Lesson Twelve
Song of Solomon 5:2-6
*This is the voice of the Shulamite.
* The idea is that she is at home, she’s gone to bed, she is fallen asleep dreaming about her love – but he isn’t there. You get the impression that she is expecting him any time.
*But then He doesn’t come. She grows a little restless, then maybe a bit disappointed and perhaps even a bit upset.
Ever been like that spiritually?
*You thought the Lord would do this certain thing
*When he did not do it just like you expected you got disappointed
*Then you got disenchanted with the Lord and backslid
*The picture here is not of the rapture but of a spiritual closeness to the Lord.
*While Jesus will never leave or forsake us, there is a joy of our salvation that can be lost whenever a Christian refuses to live in harmony and closeness to the Lord.
