    Chapter #462

    December 2009

    From the Heart

of your PresidentThe following is a Christmas Story that I have been saving for awhile. As I initially read it, and even today when I reread it, myheart is rendered soft by this true meaning of Christmas &where does Santa Claus fit in.

    Christmas Adventure with GrandmaBy A . Nonymous . . .

I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma...I was

just a kid. I remember tearing across town on my bike to visither on the day my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is noSanta Claus," she jeered. "Even dummies know that!" MyGrandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to herthat day because I knew she would be straight with me. I knewGrandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truthalways went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one ofher 'world-famous' cinnamon buns. I knew they were world-famous, because Grandma said so. It had to be true!!!!!! Grandmawas home, and the buns were still warm. Between bites, I toldher everything. She was ready for me. "No Santa Claus?" Shesnorted..."Ridiculous! Don't believe it. That rumor has beengoing around for years, and it makes me mad, plain mad!! Now,put on your coat, and let's go." "Go? Go where, Grandma?" Iasked. I hadn't even finished my second 'world-famous'cinnamon bun. "Where" turned out to be Kerby's General Store, the one store in town that had a little bit of just abouteverything. As we walked through its doors, Grandma handed meten dollars. That was a bundle in those days. "Take this money,"

she said, "and buy something for someone who needs it. I'll wait for you in the car." Then she turnedand walked out of Kerby's. I was only eight years old. I'd often gone shopping with my mother, butNEVER had I shopped for anything all by myself. The store seemed big and crowded, full of peoplescrambling to finish their Christmas shopping. For a few moments I just stood there, confused, clutching that ten-dollar bill, wondering what to buy, and who on earth to buy it for. I thought ofeverybody I knew: my family, my friends, my neighbors, the kids at school, and the people who went tomy church. I was just about thought out, when I suddenly thought of Bobby Decker. He was a kid withbad breath and messy hair, and he sat right behind me in Mrs. Pollock's grade-two class. Bobby Deckerdidn't have a coat. I knew that because he never went out to recess during the winter. His motheralways wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but all we kids knew that Bobby Deckerdidn't have a cough; he just didn't have a good warm coat. I fingered the ten-dollar bill with growingexcitement. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat! I settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it. Itlooked real warm, and he would like that. "Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behindthe counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down. "Yes, ma'am," I replied shyly. "It's for Bobby."The nice lady smiled at me, as I told her about how Bobby really needed a good warm winter coat. Ididn't get any change, but she put the coat in a bag, smiled again, and wished me a Merry Christmas. That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat (a little tag fell out of the coat, and Grandma tucked itin her Bible) in Christmas paper and ribbons and wrote, "To Bobby, From Santa Claus" on it.Grandma said that Santa ALWAYS insisted on secrecy! Then she drove me over to Bobby Decker'shouse, explaining as we went that I was now and forever officially, one of Santa's helpers. Grandmaparked down the street from Bobby's house, and she and I crept noiselessly and hid in the bushes byhis front walk. Then Grandma gave me a nudge. "All right, Santa Claus," she whispered, "get going." Itook a deep breath, dashed for his front door, threw the present down on his step, pounded his doorand flew back to the safety of the bushes and Grandma. Together we waited breathlessly in the

darkness for the front door to open!!!! Finally it did, and there stood Bobby. Well... Fifty years haven'tdimmed the thrill of those moments spent shivering, beside my Grandma, in Bobby Decker's bushes. That night, I realized that those awful rumors about Santa Claus were just what Grandma said theywere: 'ridiculous'! Santa WAS alive and well, and WE were on HIS team!!! I STILL have Grandma'sBible, with the coat tag tucked inside: $29.95. May you always have LOVE to share, HEALTH to spareand FRIENDS that care... And may you always believe in the magic of Santa Claus, and the truth aboutwhy we really celebrate Christ-mas!

Paula Rae & I wish each of you a safe, blessed, Christmas, and may you each share in the magic ofSanta Claus.

    VICE PRESIDENTS CORNERVICE PRESIDENTS CORNER

Well the year has come to an end and its almost Christmas. Christmas is one of my favoriteholidays. Not only because of the Christmas trees, lights and presents. Its because Jesus came fromthe glory of heaven to be born to a carpenter and a young girl in a stable. No fanfare. This is the Kingof the universe. All this just to show us how much he loves us. I still have a hard time getting my headaround that. Emanuel, God with us. Jesus came to us to love on us and show us God and how we shouldlive in this relationship with God. Then he laid down his life so we would never again have to liveseparate from Him. Now thats the real gift of Christmas. We can get all caught up with the things oflife. We can get caught up in what the world wants us to think about Christmas; we need to find justthe right gift for just the right person, and after almost a month of Christmas trees, lights andChristmas music I have had just about all I can stand of the worlds xmas. But on Christmas morning Iremind myself that my God came down from heaven just to show me how much he loves me. So thisChristmas dont let the shopping get you down, remember what the real Christmas is all about.

    Yours in Christ,

Road Captains ReportRoad Captains ReportRoad Captains Report

Hello Everyone...I know that I have been sort of...absent lately. Well, it is a little crazy around our house. This

whole working out of town thing is really not all that it is cracked up to be. Having my family 300miles away, the motorcycle in my garage 300 miles away, sleeping on an air mattress and sitting oncamp chairs, really isn't my ideal way of living on a day to day basis...but it is more like camping without the fun parts. My situation definitely makes me realize what I am thankful for. On the heels ofthe Thanksgiving holiday, the idea of being thankful for the everyday things is much more real.Things we take for granted like, a hug or a kiss from my wife or son for example. I think that thistime has been a reality check, and to re-align what we think is important. Have you been through areality check of your own? Have you taken the greatest thing you have been given...for granted? The

forgiveness, our Father God has given us through his Son Jesus. Have you really been thankful forthat lately? As we move into the season of celebrating Jesus birth, think about it.

Now that winter is impending...have you prepared your bike for winter?? Make sure you checkwith your owners manual or consult your favorite mechanic to see if there is anything special youneed to do to make sure you are ready to ride next spring (or on New Years!) without much diffi-culty...and especially SAFELY!

Thanks for the opportunity you gave me to share in the CMA Chapter experience as the RoadCaptain this year, hopefully I will be able to be on more rides next year as Dave Kirvan leads. I amsure he will have some fun things to do and will be able to lead the chapter on and off the road.

Over the last couple of months while working in Wisconsin, I have been able to attend a couplechapter meetings up there, with the "Kingdom Riders" in Waupun, WI and the "Exodus Riders" in Ap-pleton, WI. It has been great to get and be with these brothers and sisters, a great way to feel alittle better about being away from my "home" chapter. Talking with them definitely drives homethat CMA is a family, and that just about everywhere you go, they are not far away.

    What is CMA?

C.M.A. (Christian Motorcyclist Association) is a nonprofit organization that has more than 950chapters chartered in the U.S. and is in 25 other countries around the world. The main purposeof C.M.A. is to share the love of Jesus with other motorcyclists. This happens by attendingmotorcycle rallies, races, and rides, etc., where the gospel is shared.

Once a year CMA (Christian Motorcyclist Association) on the first Saturday of May, all acrossthe USA and Mexico have a fund raiser. Each chapter plans a 100 mile motorcycle ride and allthe money raised goes to Missionary Ventures, Open Doors, the Jesus Film Project and

ministry to motorcyclists right here in the U.S.A. CMA is not a Christian Club or riding groupdesigned to segregate Christians from the influence of the world, but rather to help send eachperson into the world by spreading the light of Jesus in dark places

For more information about CMA you can contact a chapter near you by locating them on theCMA web site at www.cmausa.org

The CMA National requests that members let them know what ministry they are performingeach month. Each Chapter secretary compiles the information and forwards it on to CMANational. This helps the CMA to retain its status as a not for profit organization. So yourcooperation in recording your ministry activities is greatly appreciated. You can copy and pastethe following link into your computer browsers address line and fill out the information thereor print out the form and manually fill it out and turn it in at our monthly Chapter meeting, orsend it to our chapter secretary.
