    SON RISE RIDERS

    Chapter #462

    January 2010

    From the Heart

of your PresidentFollowing is the article I wrote for January 2009s

Newsletter. As I reflect back upon our 2009 year, as a

Chapter we have achieved some significant progress in

what we set out to accomplish.

In 2009 we tried new things, moving our monthly

meetings to Saturday mornings, so that we could attend

more secular events, and poker runs. Many of us took the

refresher Ministry Course at State, and we had severalothers take new courses on their own. We kicked off the

new CMA Fast LaneMinistry, and will now see it start as

a new Forming Chapter in 2010. We saw significant growth

within the Chapter, presenting CMA Back Patches to

eleven new members. We were blessed by being able to

help sponsor a couple from a neighboring Chapter, enabling

them to participate in a CMA Missions Trip. We saw

hearts changed & people won to Christ, as we ministeredone on one. I am so thankful that God used me this year in

Hospital visitation. That was an area that I personally was

    not comfortable in.

We also left several of our 2009 goals undone. We still

do not have an effective Son Rise Riders prayer team

ministry. I feel that we did a poor job of making weekly

calls to encourage each other, and we have allowed too

many of our long time membership to slip away, or remain inactive.

Fortunately 2010 starts a new year, and we again have an opportunity to go down new paths,

set goals, try some things we have never tried, and again do everything within our ability to

just win one heart at a time.

Who will you change in 2010?

Notes from the President Jan 09

I am certain we have all heard the adages of, If you always do what you have always done,

you will always get, what you have always had, or If you get in your car, and take the same

exact route you always take to work every day, you have a good probability of parking in the

    same parking spot.

Well, call me an optimist, but I look at life with the if you want to achieve what you have

never done, then you have to do things you have never tried philosophy, so I ask you to not only

look forward to this mentality for 2009, but that you also support me and embrace doing

things we have never done before.

Lets attend events we have never been to, join Poker Runs and Rides that we have not

supported in the past. Lets start a prayer team & life that our chapter hasnt experienced,

take a ministry course that isnt our strength, and call someone each week, just to encourage

    them.

2009 is going to be a year of new for our chapter, and some things will work and others

not so much, but we will never know what we can achieve if we dont try, and as your

president and as a chapter I know that God has called us to Change one heart at a time &

    reach the unreached.

Starting January 1st, with the Fort Wayne Polar Ride plan on doing something you havent

done before. Leather up, and meet us for the first ride of our year. Lets make it a purpose

to help change 1 Heart at this ride.

    VICE PRESIDENTS CORNERVICE PRESIDENTS CORNER

Well its a New Year and time for everyone to make New Years resolutions. I dont likemaking New Years resolutions because I always break them. So this year in CMA I want to see

if I (as a CMA member) and we (as a CMA chapter) can achieve some new and different things.

Some things that I want to achieve:

Go to more secular events. I think there are some new rallies and events that I could

    go and work at.

Be more involved in the boogie. I think I could find some new ways I could help out.

So I could be a more valuable part of that team.

I have to do a better job of being a Vice President. I need to be involved in

everything the chapter is doing. The day may come that I will be asked to lead this

chapter and I need to be ready and ask that you pray for me in achieving this goal.

Some things I want to see the chapter achieve:

Better communication with all members. We need to make sure that everyone knows

what is going on in the chapter so they too can participate in the things that are in

    their area of service.

Welcome everyone and make them feel more at home. If they feel more at homethey will be more likely to come to more meetings and get more involved with CMA.

Give everyone more opportunity to serve Christ through CMA. You feel more a part

of CMA if you are serving Christ and the motorcycling community.

These are just some of my thoughts of how we could make this year a very good year in CMA. I

would like to encourage you to make a list and let us see if your CMA family can help you

achieve your goals. I will be looking forward to hearing from you and seeing your lists

THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAPLAINDear Brothers and Sisters,

Welcome to the New Year and a new season of opportunities for sharing and caring. Iwould like to share a newspaper article that appeared in a small town.

A church-goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no

sense to go to church every Sunday. Ive gone for 30 years now and in all that time I have

heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I cant remember a single one of

them. So, I think Im wasting my time and the pastors are wasting their time by giving

    sermons at all.

Well, this started a real controversy in the letters to the editor column. Much to the

delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:

I have been married for 30 years now. In all that time my wife has cooked some 32,000

meals for me. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those

meals. But I do know this. . .they all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my

work. If my wife had not given me those meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if

I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!

As we proceed into the New Year, lets thank God for our physical and spiritual nourishment.

Remember, if sometimes things are not going as we expect them to go, when you are down to

nothing. . .God is up to something!

SECRETARYS REPORTAs I reflect back on last year and look forward to this year, I am amazed at how much

the Lord has done for me in 2009 and am excited for what He will do in 2010. One of the

things I am thankful for is bringing David and me to this CMA chapter. I have enjoyed get-

ting to know all of you and look forward to serving with you this next year.

Philippians 3 verses 13 & 14 say But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining

toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called

me heavenward in Christ Jesus. This time of year many people make New Year resolutions.

I learned a long time ago not to make them. I dont keep them anyway. Instead I focus on

the year ahead, forgetting the mistakes and shortcomings of the previous year and keep

pressing on toward the goal Christ has called me to. As we enter in to this New Year I en-

courage you to forget the past mistakes and shortcomings and look toward the future the

    Lord has for you.

Road Captains ReportRoad Captains ReportRoad Captains Report

I am looking forward to leading the chapter in 2010 as your Road Captain. I havelearned that each motorcyclist likes different styles and types of riding. There are some who

dont want to travel more than 50 miles on a ride and would prefer to have one or two stops

within that ride. Others want to ride for hours with minimal stops. Others want to ride alone

and meet the rest of the group at the destination. There are variations on each of these types

of riders as well. Because of this, it is always a challenge to put together rides that everyone

will enjoy and participate in. That is were YOU can help make a difference. As I have been

elected to serve you, the best way I can do that is to know what type of riding you are inter-

ested in. Please send me an email and let me know what type of riding you like or if you have a

destination that you would like the chapter to ride to. I will take your suggestions and try mybest to make 2010 a pleasurable riding year and successful year for the Lord.

Here are some ideas that are going through my head at this point.

    1. Monthly chapter rides depending on ministry events

    2. Weekly or bi weekly local fellowship rides

    3. I think it would be good to have one weekend trip

    4. If there is interest I am open to leading an iron butt ride

    What is CMA?

C.M.A. (Christian Motorcyclist Association) is a nonprofit organization that has more than 950

chapters chartered in the U.S. and is in 25 other countries around the world. The main purpose

of C.M.A. is to share the love of Jesus with other motorcyclists. This happens by attending

motorcycle rallies, races, and rides, etc., where the gospel is shared.

Once a year CMA (Christian Motorcyclist Association) on the first Saturday of May, all across

the USA and Mexico have a fund raiser. Each chapter plans a 100 mile motorcycle ride and all

the money raised goes to Missionary Ventures, Open Doors, the Jesus Film Project and

ministry to motorcyclists right here in the U.S.A. CMA is not a Christian Club or riding group

designed to segregate Christians from the influence of the world, but rather to help send each

person into the world by spreading the light of Jesus in dark places

For more information about CMA you can contact a chapter near you by locating them on the

    CMA web site at www.cmausa.org

    Son Rise Rider Event Form

The CMA National requests that members let them know what ministry they are performing

each month. Each Chapter secretary compiles the information and forwards it on to CMA

National. This helps the CMA to retain its status as a not for profit organization. So your

cooperation in recording your ministry activities is greatly appreciated. You can copy and paste

the following link into your computer browsers address line and fill out the information there

or print out the form and manually fill it out and turn it in at our monthly Chapter meeting, or

send it to our chapter secretary.

This link is for Son Rise Riders only invented by our very own Ben H.

Would you like the chapter to visit your church???We would welcome the opportunity to come to your church and share what the

ministry of the CMA is about or just be there to show support for our fellow

bikers. If you would like us to come and visit your church please contact Jackson
