Did you know?

Most of Santa’s reindeer have male-sounding names, such as Blitzer, Comet, and Cupid. However, male reindeers shed their antlers around Christmas, so the reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh are likely not male, but female .

now enjoy what retirement has to offer. We wish John all the very best for a long and relaxing retirement!

Lost Property Our lost property container is steadily growing and we would like all of these items to find their way home. There’s quite a bit of clothing collected from the swimming scheme with no names on it. Over the next week please come in and have a look through the clothing to see if any of it belongs to you. Any lost property that has no name on it will be sent either to the clothing pool or to the clothing bin at the front of the school.

2014 We will head into next year with uncertainty again about classes for 2014. Uncertainty around staffing occurs at many schools on an annual basis. At this stage we will be starting the year with 74 students, needing 4 more students to maintain our 4 teacher status. At any time throughout the year we reach the magic number of 78 a fourth class will be formed. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Year 6 Thank you for the donation of cleaning equipment for our car wash. We raised $140 towards the Yr6 gift to the school.

There will not be any homework set for this week. Well done to the consistent homework students. Continue this habit into your high school years.

We will be playing Xmas carols on carols night and singing a carol with Yr4/5. Please let me know via you child as to whether they will be in attendance on the night.

Band The band will be performing for the CWA in the Community Hall tomorrow. Band members are reminded to bring their instruments and music. The band will also be performing at the Presentation Day and at the Carols Night on Friday. Please let Mr Paul know if your child is unable to attend. School band instruments need to be returned to the school for safe keeping over the holidays. They can be handed to me early next week as this Thursday will be the final rehearsal for the year.

Swimming Scheme (life saving group) An information note has been sent home with students involved in the life saving group. The assessment on Friday is optional and involves a fee to cover the assessor. It is a large group and I am looking for parent transport( to the pool only) for level 6 & 7 students to make and early start on the assessments. Please indicate if you can help in this regard.

Cricket Gear Thankyou to Jeremy Smith for kindly donation cricket gear to the school. It is much appreciated. Neil Mitchell

Office News This is the last week of banking. School banking will return on Tuesday 4th Feb 2014.

Bookpacks will be available by Thursday this week at a cost of $45 for all years. Payment on receipt of books is appreciated please. Payments may also be made online. All books are required to be paid for and collected before 7th Feb 2014 .

Library News

Students will need to return all books at home throughout the week. Notices have been sent to

families who still have outstanding loans from our school library.

Library and Environment Badges Could all badges please be returned as soon as possible. These badges belong to the school and are necessary for students in 2014.

Plants for Sale The Environment group has been working hard to look after many plants that were planted by all students in Term 2. We would love it if they all had a home for the Christmas break. Please feel free to visit us in the mornings during this week or Friday lunch time after our morning presentation.

P&C News

P&C dinner

Wednesday, December 11 Have you booked for the P&C dinner yet? Last chance. We are meeting tomorrow night to celebrate the end of the school year. The venue is Rossini’s restaurant at Lisarow Plaza at 6.30pm. Order straight from the menu, or choose a 2-course menu for $45 or 3 courses for $55.

Join us for a lovely meal, even if you haven’t been a regular attendee at P&C meetings! To book, phone Nicki Ward on 0417 721 435.

Carols by Candlelight

Friday, December 13 Don’t forget this Friday night’s carols program. Many of the students will be involved in musical items, and there will be a good community sing-along to the accompaniment of music teacher Rod Paul’s band. Bring a picnic dinner and relax on the oval with the carols from 6pm.

P&C 2014 Next year, some of our current P&C officers are likely to step aside as their children move on to high school or their work/time commitments change. To run effectively, the P&C needs to fill the following positions:

President

2 Vice-presidents

Secretary (can be split into minutes and correspondence roles)

Treasurer

Fundraising coordinator

Uniform officer

Canteen officer

Publicity officer. If you are interested in filling one of these positions or would like to find out more about what’s involved, please contact president Nicki Ward on 0417 721 435. Even if you don’t want to hold a formal position, attending P&C meetings is a great way to hear about what is happening at school and to connect with other school parents, so consider adding this monthly meeting to your calendar.

THERE IS NO CANTEEN THIS WEEK
