*Both papers have negative marks of 1/3rd of total marks
Mains(Marks 1750)• It is test of your academic knowledge and its
reproduction.
• Mains consist of nine (9) papers, out of which two
are of qualifying nature.
Qualifying Papers are:
1. Paper of any Indian language (Marks 300)
2. English language paper (Marks 300)
*Candidates have to attain minimum 25% marks in both the language Paper.

Strategy• The combined marks of mains and interview are 2250. Out of which,
1750 marks are from mains alone.
• The mains exam is a descriptive exam. A carefully thought out
preparation strategy will increase the chances of scoring very good
marks.
• Mains exam is different to Prelims, but preparation for both must be
done simultaneously. This is because prelims and mains syllabus is
common.
