Juror’s StatementThank you for providing me with the opportunity to act as judge andjuror for this exciting exhibition. The society can be commended forencouraging such a broad range of expression I feel the responsibilityof the judge is to select an exhibit that showcases, for the generalpublic, the best of where art is today, and opens a door of possibilityas to where art is going in the future. Additionally, I want to stimulatethe public to embrace art by educating, entertaining and enlighteningthe viewer; hoping they will come back for more and, or explore theirown creativity.The awards and selection process should not be viewed as a determi-nation of merit or worth, but rather an opinion from someone who sharesyour passion and has experienced the same successes and failures.Any and all art in this show is a success by virtue of the fact that ittakes a special person to attempt creativity and communication.Through an exhibition like this, others can explore and experience ourthinking, our vision, our insight, and our message.

Chairperson’s Statement

I am still recovering from all of April’s big events— the 29th JuriedArt Exhibition and gala reception, and the 3-day Tom Lynch work-shop. I’ve chaired the show and been “control officer” for four juror/workshop artists now, and each has presented unique styles andchallenges. Every year a copy of all the entries is placed on mycomputer, and I become intimately aware of each work as I pre-pare the CD to send to the juror to select the ones that will get in.I feel I know each painting as an “old friend,” yet I am alwayssurprised and stunned by the beauty and quality of the paintings inperson when hanging is complete.

Photos simply cannot capture the gorgeous, juicy colors and vi-brancy of the real paintings, nor can they convey the talent andinspiration, and part of their inner personality that each artist in-cluded in their work. Congratulations to all in the show, and par-ticularly to this year’s award winners. This one was one of the bestyet!
