Background (Continued)
Background (Continued) • Personify implementation
– First started Personify implementation in 2008; launched new system in 2009
– Currently running Personify 7.5.1
– Utilize eBusiness, Personify SSO, basic modules
– Abstracts and Meeting Registration handled outside Personify
– In-house development staff working directly with Personify API (VisualBasic.NET & C#.NET)
• Growth of SfN and the field create new challenges
Current Challenges • The movement of researchers between institutions
– Email addresses – Credentials – Demographics
• Duplicate records in Personify
• Misplacement of SfN member IDs
Project Goals • Accurately distinguish themselves and their activities from other
researchers, minimizing misidentification
• Centrally maintain their research activities with SfN and ORCID, two organizations positioned to reach across disciplines and national boundaries (approximately 38% of SfN’s members reside outside of the U.S.)
• Benefit from efficiencies where common information is not re-entered across systems
• Improve data integrity in Personify
Integration Plan • Integration Point 1: Account Registration
– Site visitor wishes to create an account with SfN to purchase a product, sign up for alerts, etc
• Integration Point 2: New Member and Returning Member

Integration Point 3: My Profile/My SfN
Project Status • Remaining work
– One more cycle of development, testing and bug fixes – Begin communications – Develop and implement evaluation plan
• Projected launch date in August 2014
Future Plans – Abstracts and Meeting Registration • After an evaluation period, SfN will look into the possibility
of integrating ORCiD identifiers into:
– Abstract submission (16,000 abstracts in volume)
– Annual meeting registration (roughly 30,000 attendees)
