MINING AND METALLURGY
SNC-Lavalin has designed and constructed many of the world’s major aluminum and nickel smelters. OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
SNC-Lavalin provides global outsourcing solutions in operations, maintenance and logistics. Its services support buildings, infrastructure, mass transit systems, remote sites, power plants, postal services, roads and water treatment facilities. Experienced in working with private, public and P3 entities, SNC-Lavalin applies sophisticated asset management solutions suited to long-term and/or short-term operations and maintenance contracts.
DEFENCE, LOGISTICS AND IN-SERVICE SUPPORT
SNC-Lavalin is involved in the contracting, project management, integration and implementation of programs for the Canadian Department of National Defence. It is currently carrying out a long-term contract to manage and maintain Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels (MCDVs) and auxiliary vessels for the Canadian Navy. SNC-Lavalin’s work in the fi eld of logistics includes remote site support for Canada’s military worldwide and it is currently providing support in Afghanistan.

AGRIFOOD
SNC-Lavalin has over 60 years of experience in this industry. AGRICULTURE

INDUSTRIAL
SNC-Lavalin offers full EPC/EPCM and project management services in the light industrial, heavy industrial and secondary processing sectors, including construction materials and glass. DUBAL Aluminum Smelter – Dubai, UAESNC-Lavalin came in under budget on EPC work to increase DUBAL’s Dubai Aluminum Smelter by 74,000 tonnes per year. Its performance, including an outstanding safety record, led to another contract for a 100,000 tonne expansion.
Air Canada Facilities Management – Toronto, CanadaSNC-Lavalin ProFac provides facilities management services for Air Canada’s Air Cargo Terminal and Combined Services Building at Pearson International Airport. Pearson is Canada’s largest and busiest air terminal, and the Air Cargo Terminal is the largest facility of its kind in Canada.
Alto Chicama Gold Project – Peru SNC-Lavalin provided EPCM services for the Alto Chicama Gold Project by Minera Barrick Misquichilca, which sits at an elevation of 4,200 metres in the Peruvian Andes. SNC-Lavalin’s ability to work in challenging locations was demonstrated when the project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule.
Sable Tier II Project – Atlantic Coast, Canada SNC-Lavalin provided EPCM services for ExxonMobil’s Sable Tier II Offshore Gas Project. Its scope of work included detailed design of the jacket, topsides and in-fi eld pipelines for the Alma and South Venture Platforms, as well as FEED services for the compression facility.
Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal Berth II – Victoria, B.C.SNC-Lavalin provided project management services as a member of BC Ferries’ Terminal Asset Management Group for Canada’s fi rst major all-fl oating ferry berth at Swartz Bay. The project, which allows the berth to accommodate larger vessels, accelerates loading and unloading times.
GSK Biologicals Flu Vaccine Projects – CanadaSNC-Lavalin Pharma provided EPCMV services to increase the capacity of the Laval and Quebec City facilities while meeting BSL2+ requirements, as defi ned by Health Canada and the WHO for production of fl u vaccines, as well as those of the FDA. These projects were executed over a period of only 18 months, after which GSK received an offi cial certifi cate from the FDA.

Generally, SNC-Lavalin’s divisions are certified by representatives of the International Organization for Standardization and comply with other international quality standards. ISO certification involves an exhaustive process of inspection and evaluation to ensure that all final products, and every phase of production leading up to the final products, meet internationally recognized quality standards.

William. R. Bennett Bridge – Kelowna, CanadaSNC-Lavalin was awarded a contract to design, build, fi nance, then operate and maintain the William. R. Bennett Bridge for a period of 27 years. One of the largest fl oating bridges in the world, it will have fi ve lanes to accommodate the projected increase in traffi c in the area during the next decade.
Maritime Coastal Defence Vessel In-Service Support – CanadaSNC-Lavalin’s in-service support to Canada’s MCDVs includes project management, engineering/design services, and technical supervision for mechanical, electrical, and combat systems. SNC-Lavalin was one of the fi rst companies in Canada to be involved in the outsourcing of marine facilities management.
Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) Project – Gulf Region SNC-Lavalin was awarded a contract by the GCCIA to oversee the construction of an 830 km, double circuit power network linking Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar. The new network will help supply power to the region, while stabilizing its electricity grid.
Eastmain 1-A Hydroelectric Development – Quebec, CanadaSNC-Lavalin is providing detailed engineering and support for construction on the 768 MW hydropower development on the Eastman river in northern Quebec. The largest hydropower project in Canada today, it includes four dams, 75 dykes, eight channels, a transfer tunnel, a powerhouse, spillway and transmission line.
Brossard Frozen Pastry Facility – Castelsarrasin, FranceSNC-Lavalin designed and built a 7,000 m2 production unit at Brossard’s frozen pastry production facility. Construction was completed and existing production lines were moved into the new building in only six months, with no interruption to the production process during construction.
Saih Nihayda Gas Plant and Associated Facilities – Oman SNC-Lavalin and its joint venture partner provided engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational support for this 20 million cubic metre per day gas treatment plant. The project, one of the largest ever completed in Oman, also had one of the best health and safety records in the country.

SNC-Lavalin funds its employees’ participation in Toastmasters, an educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication,public speaking and leadership skills. Toastmasters helps men andwomen learn vital skills that promote self-actualization and enhance leadership potential.
SNC-Lavalin offi ces marked Canada’s Healthy Workplace Week with a pedometer giveaway to employees. The initiativewas a global, portable solution to encourage health and safetyin offi ces and on project sites.
SNC-Lavalin teamed up with its clients on the Canaport Liquefi edNatural Gas (LNG) Project in Saint John, New Brunswick, tohold a “Children’s Road Safety Day.” The event showed children who live on a local route leading to the construction site how to ride and play safely. There were demonstrations of good safety practices by local police offi cers and biking safety tips by a well-known New Brunswick mountain biker.
The Tabreed District Cooling Plant Projects that SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors (SLGC) is carrying out in the United Arab Emirates recently completed over 4 million person hourswithout a lost time accident. SLGC is providing EPCM services for 19 district cooling plants, which will produce chilled water for cooling purposes for a broad range of end users.

Duing its work on the Barahona Water Project in the Dominican Republic, SNC-Lavalin volunteered to repair a 30-metre irrigation channel that local farmers depend on in VicenteNoble. The Project Team also distributed exercise books andpencils to children at a dozen schools located along the project’s 170 km pipeline. Approximately 2,000 children between the ages of four and seven received the supplies.
SNC-Lavalin partnered with the York Youth Connection (YYC) in Toronto to help fund its camp, which ensures childrenare never turned away for fi nancial reasons. YYC campers participate in a range of activities including art, sports, drama, science and leadership.
SNC-Lavalin regularly participates in the annual Red HeadRoad Clean Up, a community initiative associated with the Canaport Liquifi ed Natural Gas Project in St. John, New Brunswick. Participants spend the day picking up trashalong a seven-kilometre stretch of road. The SNC-Lavalinteam was voted “Most Enthusiastic” in its fi rst year.
While working on the Hadjret En Nouss 1,227 MW gas-fi red thermal power plant in Algeria, SNC-Lavalin’s project teamplanted 150 trees around the site to compensate for the10 felled during construction. Her Excellency, the Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean, stopped by to plant a tree and congratulate the team for its environmental initiative.
