  • Parents and Friends Committee - Lap-a-thon

Our second Lap-a-thon will be held on Friday 9 August. Please assist your child in gaining

sponsorship for laps as this fundraising event support students’ involvement in efforts to improve

facilitates at their school. The Fundraising Committee continues to raise money for Sound Field

Systems in classrooms. Additional copies of the sponsorship forms are available from the front

    office.

    Japanese Visitors - Jyosei students

On Friday 26 July, Rose Park

    welcomed students from Jyosei

    Elementary School, Hikone,

    (Japan). Our sister school

    programme promotes international

    friendship between Rose Park and

    Jyosei students, and staff, through

    a biennial exchange program.

A big thank you to all families who

    have volunteered to host students.

‘Epic TV’ crew was onsite today at Rose Park Primary School

on Friday 26 July, to produce a made-for-television series

“First Day”. Some of our students, and Kim Copeland, were

    lucky enough to be extras!

Finally, from Wednesday 31 July, I will be taking long service leave for the remainder of Term 3.

Bec Weber has returned from maternity leave this term, and will be Principal in my absence.

    Regards,

    Di Burrell

  • 2019 House Captains

School House Captains demonstrate a high level of leadership as well as presenting a high level of team work,

motivational, and sporting ability. Captains exercise responsibility when representing their House during

sporting events throughout the year; including Sports Day and our Swimming Carnival.

    At Rose Park Primary School, we have four Houses that were formally given House names in 2018;

eponymous with the four surrounding streets of the school (Alexandra Ave, Gurney Rd, Grant Ave and

Prescott Tce). Our school’s 2019 House Captains are:

Alexandra (blue): Daisy B and Jade J

Gurney (yellow): Ivana F and Arthur M

Grant (red): Zanna C and Saxon M

Prescott (green): Ryan H and Zoe G

Over the coming weeks, we will introduce you to our 2019 House Captains.

    Alexandra House Captains

Did you know?....The name was changed from The Parade to Alexandra Ave by Burnside Council to avoid

confusion with Norwood Parade. Alexandra Ave was named in 1908, and named after Alexandra (later to be

Queen) who was the Consort of the Prince of Wales.

    Introducing

    House Captain Daisy B.

As House Captain, I hope to… inspire the

students in Alexandria to become involved, be

inclusive, support each other and strive to do

    their best.

Something you don’t know about me is … when

I was 2-years-old, I had my photo in The

    Advertiser.

I like to … make up dance routines with my

sisters, eat haloumi and play sports as it keeps

    me fit and happy.

One day I hope to … represent Australia in the

    Olympics.

If I could change something in the world, I

would… like everyone to have a voice which

    they feel safe to use.

The best thing about Rose Park Primary School

for me is… that everyone listens to each other

and respects one another’s opinion. Also I can

walk to school and my friends live close by

which makes it a wonderful , local community

    school.

Someone I really look up to is Jess Trengrove

because she inspires me to be the best I can

be. She works hard to fulfil her dreams and still

has time to encourage me to fulfil my own

    dreams.

    Introducing

    House Captain Jade J.

As House Captain, I hope to… get more

students excited about sport and doing activities

with friends. Also for students to become better

    co-operators.

Something you don’t know about me is … I have

a stick called Jerry that I found walking up Mt

    Lofty.

I like to … play all different sports with my friends

    and family especially footy.

One day I hope to … play footy for the Sydney

Swans and also own a carpentry business.

If I could change something in the world, I

would… end world hunger. poverty, have equal

rights for everyone, end deforestation and solve

    global warming.

The best thing about Rose Park Primary School for

me is… all the learning opportunities we get and

the awesome excursions we go on.

Someone I really look up to is …Erin Phillips …

because she is such a tough athlete and a great

leader. She also is really committed to her beliefs

    and makes things happen
