Quality Measures in High Risk Pregnancy WorkshopA cooperative effort with the SMFM, NICHD, HRSA, and ACOG Tuesday 1:00–7:00pm; continues on Wednesday 7:00am–1:00pm This workshop is co-sponsored by the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the American College of Ob-stetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) There are four primary goals of the workshop: 1. To review the current landscape regarding quality measures in

obstetric scenarios with increased risk2. To evaluate the available evidence for practice in common ob-

stetric conditions and identify those that drive the highest impact outcomes, quality, and value

3. To propose measures that would reflect high quality and efficientpractice in obstetric conditions with heightened risk.

4. To pinpoint current data opportunities, deficiencies, and researchgaps and recommend means of change

(Registration limited. Attendees are responsible for their meals.)

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 311. Dilemmas with Clinical Application of New Tools

for Prenatal Genetic Screening and TestingCourse Directors: Ronald J. Wapner, MD and Ignatia B. Van den Veyver, MDLearning Objectives 1. Participants will understand the differences between traditional

and new genetic testing and screening modalities that can be offered to pregnant women to better inform them about their reproductive genetic risks

2. Participants will gain knowledge about the techniques usedfor chromosomal microarray analysis and what the indications, counseling requirements, diagnostic yield and pitfalls are with use of CMA for prenatal diagnosis in pregnancies at high-risk and average-risk for aneuploidy and other genetic and genomic disorders

3. Participants will learn about the technology and diagnostic andscreening applications of next-generation sequencing. They will be able to apply this knowledge for decision making and patient counseling on use of tests based on this technology, such as non-invasive cfDNA screening for aneuploidy, prenatal exome sequencing, expanded carrier screening, and non-invasive prenatal diagnosis for single gene disorders

WORKSHOPNew! President’s Initiative on 17 OHP: Moving our Patients from Problem to Solution Laura Riley, MDWednesday 1:00–3:00pmRates of successful uptake of 17‐hydroxyprogesterone among women with prior spontaneous preterm birth are variable and gen-erally sub-optimal. Racial, ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in preterm birth exist, possibly driven, in part, by differential access to, and use of preventive therapies. Workshop participants will review potential root causes of underutilization of 17 OHP by exploring the experience of a vulnerable woman, from one preterm birth through a subsequent pregnancy. By understanding barriers and pitfalls which impede successful implementation of 17 OHP, engaged stakeholders will develop strategies to improve overall utilization of 17 OHP and move toward meaningful and equitable reductions in preterm birth risk.

Early Onset Preeclampsia Dinner SymposiumLeader: Baha Sibai, MDThursday 7:00–9:30pmEarly Onset Preeclampsia (EOP) defined as Preeclampsia arising before 34 weeks gestational age is a rare but extremely critical condition occurring in about 0.3% of all pregnancies. Growth (% change) in the incidence of EOP is outpacing other types of pre-eclampsia, and other modern public health challenges including diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. EOP is particularly vexing as it is one of the leading causes of prematurity in the United States and Worldwide. While expectant management in selected patients has now become “standard of care” many controversies regarding the diagnosis and management remain. In addition, many new ther-apies are currently in development which could ultimately impact medical practice of this difficult to manage condition.Topics include:• Introductions and Learning Objectives- Baha Sibai, MD• Epidemiology of EOP and natural history of expectant manage-

ment—Amelia Sutton, MD• Burden of EOP: mother and newborn outcomes- Michael Paidas,

MD• Biomarkers to predict adverse outcomes during expectant man-

agement—TBA• Novel therapies for the treatment of EOP—Baha Sibai, MD• Open discussion on key issues in expectant management

Faculty and Audience(No registration fee to attend. Limited seating on a first come, first serve basis.)Supported by an unrestricted educational grant from rEVO Biologics The content of this non-CME educational symposium was devel-oped independently with the goal of ensuring regulatory compli-ance to support initiatives that accelerate the translation of clinical science into quality patient care.
