A kit is anything comprised other part numbers, sub-kits or non-inventory items.

Examples include:

– Gift baskets

– Assembled parts like: seat belt buckle,

– Series of parts sold together

• Flower arrangement-roses, baby’s breath, vase

• Repair Kit-thread, needle, box & patches

• Stapler & Staples

– Unit of measure differences

• Coke-can vs 6pack vs case vs skid




The kitting feature including in the standard inventory modules handles one level of sub-components

There is also an advanced bill of materials add-on that gives you the ability to have 10 levels of sub-components. If you need more information on this enhancement, please request for more information on that product




This product searches the inventory file for items with negative quantities. When they are found, it checks if there is a kit/bill of materials for that product and if there is, it puts an inventory transaction into the inventory adjustment file to bring the kit/master item to zero and consume the subcomponents.

So if you sell a can of Coke, it can convert that to 1/24 of a case. If you sell a gift basket, it can relieve the components and much more.

Creating a bill of materials table:1. In Inventory, select Set Up Kits on the Kits menu from the menu bar.

2. Enter the finished good stock number in the BOM Stock box.

3. Select the appropriate costing method for the item.

4. Activate the Update At Post check box to have the cost updated each time a bill of materials transaction is posted for the item.

5. In the Detail Type box select either Inventory or Non-Inventory from the drop-down list.




6. Enter the stock item or subkit stock number in the Component box.

7. The description is generated from the inventory stock item list.

8. In the Quantity box, enter the quantity of this component required to make one.

9. If Detail is selected for costing method, enter the cost of each component to calculate the cost of the finished item.

10. Previous steps are repeated until all the components that make up the bill of materials list for theFinished Good item are done.

11. Select the Update Cost button to update the estimated cost with last cost information.

12. Select Save to retain the information for this kit, or select Cancel to close the window without saving the information




Running the Kit Assembly Report: 1. In Inventory, select Kit Assembly Report on the Kits menu.

2. Type or use the Lookup to enter the stock number of the kit to use for the report.

3. In the Quantity to Build box, enter the quantity of the specified kit that you want to assemble.

4. Select either the Inquiry or Understock report type.

5. Select OK.

6. If the Print Options window appears, select the report destination: Printer, Screen, or File.




7. Enter the number of copies to print. By default, one copy will print, unless you enter a different default number

8. Select OK to print the report or Cancel to exit without printing.




Running the Master Kit Report: 1. In Inventory, select Master Kit Report on the Kits menu from the

menu bar.

2. Type or use the Lookup to enter the starting and ending kit number(s) to include in the report.

3. Type or use the Lookup to enter the starting and ending component numbers to use for the report.

4. Select OK to generate the report, or Cancel to exit without running the report.

menu

2. Type or use the Lookup to enter the starting and ending component numbers to use for the report.

3. Select OK to generate the report, or Cancel to exit without running the report.

Installation happens automatically when you install V10 or better

To activate this feature, you need to go to Order Entry> Options> Codes> Order Guide> Run Utility

To keep the file updated, rerun the file daily/weekly/monthly as needed

To optimize this feature, staff should be trained to manually add items that a customer inquires about and any item that the staff feels that the customer might be interested in.

This product should require no troubleshooting. Its beautiful in its simplicity.

Re-indexing is almost always a first step

If a record locking error occurs, use UTICMS to delete any blank records

If problems still exist, use dbFix & FileFix to rebuild the file

If the problem remains, it might be desirable to use UTICMS to zap the file and recreate.
