Defining Independent Contractors
Independent ContractorAn individual or small company (excluding C-Corporations) with fewer than three full time employees who performs services for the university in which the contractor exercises complete control and direction over how the work is completed.
These individuals are customarily engaged in an independent established business and do not carry ongoing relationships with the university.

The contract is the actual agreement between JHU and the contractor. For services $5,000 or greater and less than $50,000:

Note: There are international versions of these forms for someone who will work outside of the US who may qualify as an IC.
