OverviewOMC network management system is a tool used to performconfigurations, alarm management, and performancemanagement of AGW, and it is the core system in AGW routinemanagement.

This chapter introduces the fundamental composition of the AGWsystem and the environmental requirement for the installation ofnetwork management software.

Basic Composition of AGW

SystemHardware Composition of AGWSystem

The hardware of the AGW system mainly includes AGW accessgateway (also called the AGW foreground), OMC server, OMCclient, and the alarm box.

To differentiate the hardware of AGW, the AGW system

hardware is divided into two types, the foreground device andthe background device.

Foreground device

The foreground device refers to the AGW access gateway,including AGW cabinet, all shelves in the cabinet, and allboards in the shelves.

Background device

Refers to the OMC server, the OMC client, and the alarm boxof AGW.

For details of hardware composition of AGW, refer to ZXMBW

AGW WiMAX Wireless Access Gateway Hardware Description.

Software Composition of AGWSystem

There is a one to one correspondence relationship between AGWsoftware composition and AGW hardware composition

Software that corresponds to AGW foreground NEs is boardversion software.

Software that corresponds to network managementserver/client is operation & maintenance software.

To differentiate the software of AGW, the AGW system softwareis often divided into two types, AGW board running software andbackground operation & maintenance software.

Foreground software

The foreground software mainly refers to version softwareloaded on various boards in the AGW foreground, and itmainly includes the version software and configurationinformation of all boards in AGW.

Rudiments of KLinuxKLinux is an embedded operating system based on the standardLinux, and it enhances real-time processing capacity. It is basedon the core of Linux2.6.

From CD

In this case, the installation CD containing Embsys CGSLinuxV3.0 needs to be purchased and the CD drive should beready.

From PXE network

This requires that the installed-to system own the Pre-Execution Environment (PXE) network adapter, and this isinstallation based on NFS, FTP, and HTTP.

Automatic installation

This is also called quick start installation, and it is installedautomatically.

This manual takes the CD installation method as an example toillustrate the procedure of installing Embsys CGS Linux V3.0.

Installing KLinuxThis topic explains the procedures to install KLinux.

The Embsys CGS Linux V3.0 installation CD provided by ZTE isloaded with default configuration of language, keyboard, timezone, and software packet, and the configuration will be installedautomatically. The used only needs to partition the disk toperform the installation.

The procedure to install Embsys CGS Linux V3.0 on the networkmanagement server of AGW is as follows.

1. Start the installation program

2. Partition the disk

3. Enter the interface to perform various installationconfigurations

Perform the following step to install KLinux.

1. Insert the Embsys CGS Linux V3.0 installation CD into thedrive, and start the CD to enter the installation procedure.The computer boots to the installation disk, as shown in

Figure 1.

Result: After completion of booting, the window pops up toprompt selection of partition method as shown in Figure 2.

Note: Partition means to logically divide the hard drive intoindependent areas, and each area is like an independentdrive logically.

2. If self-defined partition is needed, click Yesbutton to enterthe configuration interface of partition, as shown in Figure 3.

4. Click Yesbutton, and automatic partitioning is complete. Atthis moment, it is possible to review or modify theestablished partitions by clicking the Yesbutton in Figure 5.

5. Review the created partition. If it does not meet therequirement, it is possible to change the partition, such ascreation, editing, and deletion. Set the partition inaccordance with the planning in Table 14.

After the installation of Embsys CGS Linux V3.0 succeeds, it is

necessary to configure the language environment as needed.

Make sure that installation of Embsys CGS Linux V3.0 is finishedsuccessfully.

Perform the following step to configure language environment.

Configuring Chinese Environment

After installing Embsys CGS Linux V3.0, perform thefollowing steps to configure the Chinese environment ifneeded.

i. Login the KLinux system as the root user. (The initialpassword for root is klinux)

ii. Launch the command startx to enter the graphic

interface.

iii. Open the file i18n under /etc/sysconfig.

iv. In i18n , change LANG="zh_CN.GB2312" to

LANG="zh_CN.GBK".

v. After the change, enter the command -bash-3.1$ locale

to confirm.

The format of the command is as follows:

[root@localhost ~]#-bash-3.1$ locale

vi. Restart the system to invoke the relevant changes.

Configuring English Environment

After installing Embsys CGS Linux V3.0, perform thefollowing steps to configure the English environment if

needed.

i. Login the KLinux system as the root user. (The initialpassword for root is klinux)

ii. Launch the command startx to enter the graphic

interface.

iii. Open the file i18n under /etc/sysconfig.

iv. In i18n , change LANG="zh_CN.GB2312" toLANG="zh_CN.GBK".

v. In i18n, change LANG="en_US.UTF-8" toLANG="en_US.ISO-8859-1".

vi. Click the menu System > Management > Language.

Result: The Language Selection window appears asshown in Figure 9.

vii. Click English(USA), and then click OKbutton.

iii. Open the configuration file /etc/gdm/custom.conf

iv. Add Enable =1 in item [xdmcp]

v. Execute the command gdm-restart

Starting VNC

By default, the VNC xmanager remote service is turned off,and it needs to be turned on manually. The configurationmethod is as follows.
