Going around the world for your education. That’s

the magis.

Page 2: SJU Brochure for International Students

What’s magis? It’s a Jesuit principle that calls us to do more, like traveling to another country for the best education possible. Magis inspires us to think more broadly, work a little harder, and make each choice better than the last. Living the magis opens up a whole world of opportunity for us to make life better – not just for ourselves, but also for others. Where might magis lead you?

Students from more than 50 nations call Saint Joseph’s University home. Saint Joseph’s has been offering programs for international students for more than 30 years. They come from Chile, China, France, Ghana, India, Kuwait, Nigeria, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, and many more places around the world. International students help us create a global community on our campus. SJU has more than 100 student clubs and organizations, some tailored for international students. And our Office of Multicultural Life organizes events like Intercultural Week that bring our community together. Because as much as you can learn from Americans, we also want to learn from you.

At the Center for International Programs (CIP), you will find support for everything you’ll need to be successful – from your immigration paperwork to transportation, academic tutoring and applying for OPT or CPT. The Center also organizes International Education Week and events around Philadelphia.

We look forward to welcoming you to Saint Joseph’s.

SJU is listed as one of “The Best Northeastern Colleges” by The Princeton Review.

Philadelphia has always been an entry point for people from all over the world. That explains the city’s diverse mix of neighborhoods: Irish, Italian, Asian, Latin American, Caribbean, and many more.

Many of the most important events in United States history – including the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution – happened within a few miles of Saint Joseph’s campus.

With more than 50 colleges in the area (and more than 50,000 college students), there is always something great to do: restaurants, concerts, museums, nightlife, parks and sports.

And when you’re ready to venture farther and see more? New York City and Washington D.C. are just two hours away by train or car.
