The first question asks people's age allowing us to analyse the answers within people's age categories. This will make it easier for us when we have decided a target audience for our opening sequence and we can then use the information from the survey. The results show 100% of the answers being 15-17 so this will be our main target audience, this is also our age group as well so this should work well with our type of ideas and target audience.

The next questions asks which sub genre of thriller movie is most interesting to the person, to give us the results of the most popular genre. We can then use results to apply to our opening sequence knowing the most popular genres, which appeal to audiences. The results are mixed for this question but show popularity for horror, crime and psychological thrillers which we will adjust to our ideas and movie genre .

Having a question asking people's ideal type of protagonist will be useful to use to see what appeals most to the audience. The characters are one of the most important parts of the movie and therefore having the audiences advice will help their sequence appeal to people and their preferred choices Here the results show a hero being the most popular protagonist within the target audience.

Question 4 asks how often would you say you watch thriller films, this will give us an idea of how often people taking the survey watch thriller movies and what type of expectations we need to fulfil. A couple of times a month was shown to be the most popular choice with 55% of the votes choosing this option.

The next question asks about the person's ideal type of protagonist allowing us to compare our ideas with the results to target our audience. The results showed a psychopath with the most votes and 64% followed by a villain and hero with only 18% each. This links with our ideas of having a psychopath as our protagonist as we felt we had a strong storyline and a good use of thriller conventions to convey in the opening.

As we are focusing on the opening sequence of the film, asking the question of what do you think the most important parts of the opening, will be useful for our planning. With people's preferred elements we can use these for our target audience to improve and make our sequence as appealing to the target audience as much as possible. Here the results an insight of the storyline and sounds to be the most popular conventions for the opening.

Question 7 asks if the person finds it appealing for a thriller to create suspense and tension. The results for this question show every vote towards the answer 'yes'. These results show us as a group that creating tension and suspense is vital in our opening sequence and will directly apply to our audience. As the votes are 100% that suspense and tension needs to be created, we will need to use thriller conventions to build this and engage the audience as much as possible.

This question allowed the person to rank the genre conventions in order of their preference for the opening sequence. Low key lighting was shown to be top within the results with the use of eerie music being the second most popular. We can then use these results when composing our opening sequence to use the target audience's preferences so they appeal to our viewers.

The next question asks their favourite thriller film to give us an idea of the type of storyline and characters within a movie The results showed 'no country for old men' with 4 votes and 'none of the above options' with 4 votes also. This tells us that none of the thriller options are that popular within our target audience but 'no country for old men' is fairly popular. We can use this idea to apply to our overall suggestions in comparison to the movie.

Question 10 asks the person the pace of how they think the story should unfold. The results showed 73% of the votes for fairly slowly, this tell us as a group how we should plan our story to slowly be uncovered rather than immediately to build suspense and draw the target audience in.

The question how do you think the opening scenes of a thriller should open allows the person to show their preferred scene openings of a thriller. The results showed flashbacks to be the most popular with 64% of the votes and present time was second most popular with 18%. This will be useful when planning our opening scenes for the opening and how the audience will react to certain types of opening scenes and conventions.

The final question of the survey asks people whether they enjoy being scared b thriller movies. 45% of the votes went towards yes and another 45% voted for sometimes. Form the results we can analyse as a group that most people from the target audience like thrillers to scare them, drawing them in as a viewer. We will consider this when using specific conventions in our opening to cause a thrill and scare to the audience.
