PASTOR’S POTPOURRI- I CALL YOU FRIENDS

Next Sunday we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension. As we do so, we recall that the Lord sent the apostles to preach the good news to all to all nations. We have benefited from that call. May we, in our turn, share the good news of this Easter season.

We are reminded today that it was God who first loved us. Because we are loved, we can love. Jesus tells us today all that he has heard from the Father. Therefore, we are friends…and he wants his joy to be in us. That joy is the Holy Spirit. May that Spirit continue to shine forth from us and bring light to the darkness of the world and enable others to see our discipleship and come to encounter the Lord. Again, Happy Easter to all!!! — Fr. Bob

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

SAVE THE DATE: Vacation Bible School “Shipwrecked” will be June 11 – 15 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. VBS is for children entering Kindergarten – 5th grade in the fall. $10.00 per child.

Registration begins May 6th. Contact Brenda for more information at [email protected] or 303-988-6435 X 18

BASIC SUPPLES NEEDED: Large boxes or pieces of cardboard, paper grocery bags, brown paper (Amazon often uses it as packing material), cardboard tubes (paper towel size or larger) and carpet tubes, thick rope. More supply needs coming closer to summer. Thank you for your support!

Vacation Bible School needs YOU! Each summer we have around 60 children join us for a fun-filled week of learning about Jesus’ love for them. It takes a minimum of 18 adults (or mature teenagers) to make this happen. VBS will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon June 11 – 15. There will be an evening training prior to that week and all plans, materials, scripts etc. will be provided for you. Please contact Brenda at 303-988-6435 x 18 if you are interested or would like more information about helping out with VBS.

Faith: Pass it on! Next fall, approximately 100 children in grades K – 5 will sign up here at St. Jude to learn more about Jesus and their Catholic faith. At this time, many of those children have no catechist to teach them as several of our catechists are mov-ing, moving on, or having babies! YOU can help by becoming a catechist for faith formation. As you nurture the faith of our youth, you will learn and grow as well. Please contact Brenda at 303-988-6435 x 18 if you are interested or would like more information about teaching our young people.

RCIA St. Jude’s RCIA program is a year round program. This model of formation provides a form of learning, centered on the relationship of the individual with the person of Jesus Christ and with his body, the church. It centers catechesis in the primary place where that relationship is fostered and celebrated, in the community of faith that gathers Sunday by Sunday throughout the year. “Within the cycle of the year the Church unfolds the whole mystery of Christ, from his incarnation and birth until his ascension, the day of Pentecost and the expectation of blessed hope and of the Lord’s re-turn” (Constitution of Sacred Liturgy [CSL], 102.) This model also respects the journey of each person. It assumes that those who come seeking initiation will be welcomed whenever they arrive, no matter what time of the year that happens to be.

In this model of sacramental catechesis, the church uses the language of journey, conversion, discipleship and relation-ship. Rather than a program of specific instruction, the RCIA suggests a fluid, gradual process of formation, the heart of which is the paschal mystery of Jesus Christ.

Contact Deacon Mike Bunch at [email protected] or 303-988-6435 ext 16 to register.
