Hot Tip…!
Don’t be fooled by the course title, courses with the same name can
vary in structure and content.
What are the advantages of going to University or continuing onto Further Education? For some careers it’s essential For other careers it’s preferred/can be an advantage
(enhanced job prospects) - so think carefully before deciding against university
You have the opportunity to develop a number of skills that employers value: e.g. research, analysis and team-working
Can become involved in new activities Gives you longer to decide on your career and longer
before you go into the world of work

Gap Year
Make sure that you use the year wiselyWhat do you want to do?
Why do you want to do it?What are you hoping to gain from it?
Think before you decide to take a gap year, many students do not go back into education afterwards
Still apply to university if you are planning to go (just defer a year)
Things students do on gap years:
Travel
Gain some useful work experience
Voluntary work
Improve your language skills
