Front
page Site tours, familiarisations and
training are a critical part of our
preparations to move into the
new building. Between now and
handover, which is when the
builder gives the LHD the facility
and we start commissioning,
there is a busy schedule of visits,
acceptance testing, witness
testing, and training related to
major medical equipment. Thanks
to all our staff for your effort and
commitment!

Tackling toxic
clutter They didn’t really need gowns and masks to tackle the
clutter in Theatres, but it certainly got staff into the spirit of
things! As part of the move to the new building, all
departments are taking the opportunity to declutter. Items
which can be repurposed will be reallocated, other wise it’s
scan, store, shred or bin it!
If you haven’t already started to declutter, and you need
some support, contact the project team.
One, two, three... It’s been three years since the Cancer and Haematology
Centre opened in the new Clinical Services Building at
Blacktown Hospital, and staff got together last week to
celebrate.
The award-wining design included radiation therapy with its
unique Steve Parish Australian bush and coast ceilings,
infusion therapies designed by patients and staff, and a
comfortable chemo lounge added at the request of our
consumers. A ward on level 7 completes the cancer and
haematology service. Congratulations on three years of
dedicated service, team!
Eye witness news Witness testing continued in Intensive Care
this week as new beds, infusion pumps and
pendants were inspected by staff to ensure
they are fit for purpose and meet their
needs. It’s all part of ensuring the new
building delivers optimal patient care.
