Introduction
• PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)• ITM (Induction Traction Motor)• PR (Proportional Resonant)• WLSE (Weighted Least Squares
Estimation)
Features of PWM rectifier
• Bi-directional power flow,
• Nearly sinusoidal input current,• Regulation of input power factor to unity,• Low harmonic distortion of line current (below5%),• Adjustment and stabilization of DC link voltage (or
current),• Reduced capacitor (or inductor) size due to the
continuous current,• Properly operated under line voltage distortion and
Line frequency variations

Experimental Results
• Transient responses when DC-link voltage changes gradually with no-load; a) input voltage and current, b) DC-link voltage, power factor and frequency
Experimental Results
• Transient responses (PWM rectifier and inverter): no-load AM; a) input voltage and current, b) DC-link voltage, power factor and frequency
Experimental Results
• Transient responses (PWM rectifier and inverter): short-circuit AM in ts = 0.2 s; a) input voltage and current, b) DC-link voltage, power factor and frequency
Experimental Results
• Transient responses (Transient responses (PWM rectifier and inverter): load on AM; a) input voltage and current, b) DC-link voltage, power factor and frequency
Conclusion• PWM control makes possible to employ
shifted carriers, which is eligible for high power systems with low switching frequency
• The simulation and experimental results confirm proper function of designed control structure under both steady state and transient conditions.
• The PWM rectifier can perform well in as an active filter or as an input rectifier for an indirect frequency converter. (useful mainly in traction)
• A traction vehicle equipped with a PWM rectifier does not consume reactive power, will not load the supply network with harmonics and can recuperate.
