Happy fall to everyone, my favorite
time of year. I already have my Halloween
decorations out.
I’m looking forward to our big auction
on Oct. 13 and having Sheila teach our
Halloween witch boot. It will be a fun, fun
day.
I hope everyone will wear a fall or
Halloween shirt. I know what I will be
wearing already. It
also is going to be a
potluck. Bring
something to share
with everyone and our
visitors. I hope
everyone invited
friends and families to
join us!
If you have
painted something for
our auction, please get
it to me before Oct. 5.
We are having a board
meeting on the 5th, at
my house at 10 a.m.,
and will be filling out
the auction forms and
pulling it all together.
We will have pizza for
lunch. Bring a few
dollars to pitch in to pay for it, please.
I want to give everyone who has already
painted and turned it into me a big thank
you. We have some really nice projects for
this day. Thank you again.
We also have our business meeting
before the auction and will need to start on
time and be done by 11:00. The voting for
our new board will be taking place also.
The slate is:
President: Sheila Hughes
1st Vice-President: Judy Gibson
2nd Vice-President: Nicole
Garrett
Secretary: Terry Boyd
Treasurer: Kay Singer
If there is anyone else that would like to
step up, or volunteer someone from the
chapter - with there permission - this is the
day it will take place.
Also keep in
mind any position you
would like to take on
next year. The new
president will need
our help big time.
Remember if no one
steps up, then we will
do away with that
position. For example,
if no one volunteers to
take on the holiday
party, there will be no
holiday party. This
was brought up at our
last meeting. I truly
hope it doesn’t happen
this way. The chapter
means so much more
to each of us if we all
pitch in and help and do our part.
I hope to see everyone at our chapter
meeting October 13 at 10:00am. Don’t
forget to get your friends and family
members to come.
Keep painting, smile often and, most of
all, be happy and healthy.
Your friend,
Gwen Palmer

The month of October promises to
be a busy meeting and auction. If
you signed up to bring food
please let me know by October
11. So I will be able to organize
the day more carefully. I will be
teaching the class that day. Gwen
has graciously volunteered to
help with the setting up of the
lunch. We will have a very
interesting and fast action day. I
know everyone is as anxious as I
am for this event. Please come
early for the set up and stay late
for the cleanup. See you all at the
chapter meeting.

Pro g r am s Hello Ladies,
It’s hard to believe that we only have two classes left
for the year.
Last month we had a great class with Gwen teaching
a Jamie Mills Price design. Gwen is a wonderful, patient
teacher, and boy did we have fun! Thank you, Gwen, for
making it fun.
In October:
Sheila Hughes will be
teaching a Sandi Streaker
Witch Boot design.
This is a super easy,
but cute, project that will
be fun to paint. Sheila is
a wonderful teacher and
will make this a fun
experience for you.
If you haven’t signed
up for this paint-in yet,
you might want to do so soon. The price for this is $10.00
and the wood is available
from Sheila.Hughes.
In November:
I am teaching a Shara
Reiner Christmas tree
skirt design. I am painting
mine on Roclon. The
original surface that Shara
painted it on is no longer
available. That’s why I
painted mine on Roclon. If
you choose, you can shrink
your pattern and paint it on a Lazy Susan.
The cost of this workshop is $15.00 and the surface
you will have to buy yourself. I get mine at JoAnns.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Cathy Frazier

Hello Ladies,
This year is flying by super fast!!!!! Last month we
collected over 3/4 of the chapter dues!!!! Thank you all so
much for your prompt payments.
If you are unable to attend the October meeting, you
can always mail me your dues.
I am asking that everyone complete an updated
membership form regardless if there have been any
changes or not with your information. This will help me
when I am double checking our directory.
I would like to welcome Marthalene Roberts to our
chapter. She joined us last month!!
If anyone has questions regarding their membership
dues please let me know!

The displays are now in both the Rainbow Library and
the Summerlin (Trails) Library.
A HUGE thank you to the committee: Patty, Pat Pillen,
Terry, Beth, Gwen, and Sheila. And another HUGE thank
you to those who donated items to be displayed. Both
libraries are full and beautiful.
Please take the time to go look at them. They will be on
display until November 1.

October 2018 Newsletter
October is here! That means it's time for Mark
Menendez's color pencil seminar. Last month I made a
mistake on the dates in the newsletter. The correct dates
of the seminar are Oct. 19 & 20. If you have signed up and
paid in full, you should have received your color pencil
list. If you have not, please reach out to me ASAP.
The location for the seminar is 5175 Camino Al Norte,
St. #100, North Las Vegas. I will send those who have
signed up directions. Class will be from 9am-4pm.
Carl Larson will be here on April 5 & 6, 2019. The
piece chosen will be displayed at our October meeting. No
sign ups or deposits can be accepted until Jan. 2019. Carl
Larson's seminar will be held at the church. We have
chosen one project for the 2-day seminar.
Maxine Thomas will be here Sept. 20 and 21, 2019 for
her seminar. A piece will be chosen in the beginning of
this upcoming year. The EMS Training Center of Southern
Nevada has been reserved for this seminar. More details
will be available in the upcoming year.
If anyone has any questions in regards to any
seminars, please feel free to reach out to me.

Cathy Frazier’s son was
married on September 22nd,
and Cathy was pretty excited
to be traveling to northern
Utah for the
festivities. Congratulations!
Our sincere condolences
go to Sheila Hughes and
family on the loss of Mike’s sister.
Well, fall has officially begun and I, for one, hope it’s
a long and beautiful season after all the humidity and
heat of the summer months. Take care my friends

Hi Ladies,
Thank you for all of the support you have given for the
raffle each month! It has been a great source of income for
our chapter and fun too!
We wont be having the raffle in October because of
our auction, so get out there and bid, bid, bid!
We do need raffle prizes for November. If you can
bring something, please let me know. It can be food, gift
cards, painting supplies or anything your heart desires
except cash! I wont be at the October meeting because my
daughter is getting married that weekend, but I will be
thinking of you!
Thanks,
Mary Davis
