For Safety’s Sake This is a reminder to all who participate in the Stay Fit Dining Program regarding the taking of food and plastic ware
home from the dining site. Please cooperate in following these important guidelines that have been designed to protect
your food and your health.
COLD FOODS: Bread, Milk, Juice, Fruit and other packaged Desserts may be taken home. Please refrigerate these
items as soon as possible and use them within a day or two.
HOT FOODS: For your protection, are not allowed to be taken from the dining sites. Hot foods cool very quickly
and become potentially dangerous within a short period of time. If these foods are not handled properly, they
could make you very ill. Please note- these same rules apply for pets-if you take leftovers home for your pets-
they can get sick too!
COLD FOODS: Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, Coleslaw, Tuna Salad, Egg Salad, Cottage Cheese, Ham Salad, and
Sliced Meats on the cold plates are not allowed to be taken out of the dining sites to protect you from the risk
of becoming ill with food borne illness.
SALAD AS THE ENTRÉE: Please handle these meals in accordance with the above guidelines.
When food is not handled in the proper manner it enters the food handling danger zone of 40◦F-140◦F.When food
is in this temperature range for any length of time bacteria grows at a fast rate of speed.
Plastic ware, such as plates, tableware, dessert cups, juice cups, bowls or foil pans, may not be taken home for
reuse. These items are not made to be reused and are only to be used one time. It is impossible to sanitize these
items properly. These items have many crevices that can hold food particles that harmful bacteria favor for
growth.
These guidelines have been designed to protect your health and safety. Your Site Manager is responsible for reminding
you of these food safety tips and we appreciate your cooperation. We value your participation in our program and look
forward to seeing you again.
If you have any individual concerns, please contact your assigned Nutrition Program Staff person.
