ARRIVAL  AT  PISA  AIRPORT  (PSA)  AND  GETTING  TO  SIENA  BY  TRAIN

The  easiest  way  to  get  to  Siena  from  Pisa  is  by  train.  Here  are  some  direc8ons!  

STEP  1:  From  the  airport  to  the  train  sta.onA;er  gathering   your  belongings  at   the   airport   and  exi8ng   customs,   turn   right   and   walk  towards  the  end  of  the  main  hall.   Look  for  the   Informa.on  kiosk  where  you  can  purchase    8ckets  for                                          (PisaMover)    and  train  8ckets  to  Siena.  PisaMover  is  a  non-­‐stop  shuHle   bus  that   will   take   you  to  Pisa’s  main   train  sta8on,  Pisa  Centrale,   where   you   can  then  catch  a  train  to  Siena.  Follow                                              signs  to  the  bus  stop  outside  of  the  airport.It  is  a  less  than  10-­‐minute  ride  to  Pisa  Centrale.

STEP  2:  From  Pisa  (to  Empoli)  to  SienaOnce  you  get  off  the  shuHle  bus,  walk  into  the  train  sta8on  and  follow  the  signs  for  Biglie:eria   (8cket   office).  They  will   guide  you   to   an   underpass   with   access   to   the  tracks.  To  reach  Siena,  you  must  change  trains  at  Empoli.Timetables   and   screens  at   the  track   entrances  will   indicate  the  final   des8na8on  of  depar8ng  trains.  If  you  do  not  see  Empoli,  you   can  also  look   for  Firenze  (Florence),  but  make  sure   to  read  over  the  stops.  It  must  list  Empoli,  otherwise   it  means   that  the  train  will  not  stop  there.If   you   have   your  8cket   to   Siena,   then   you   are  ready   to   board.   If   not,  head   to   the  Biglie:eria  to  purchase  it.  

Make  sure  to   validate  your  8cket  by  inser8ng    it  on  the  machines   (see  picture).  If  you  do  not  have  8me,  or   cannot  find   one,  make   sure   you   write   8me   and  date  on   your   8cket!  Users  without  validated  8ckets  can  get  fined  up  to  €200!

STEP  3:  Arrival  into  SienaOnce  you  get  off  the  train  follow  the  signs  for  Uscita  (exit).  Right  outside  the  sta8on  you  can  take  a  taxi  to  the  pre-­‐arranged  loca8on  provided  by  SIS  staff.

Otherwise  you  can  catch  buses  #3  #9  #10    to  the  city  center.  The  bus  stop  is   located  in  the  lower  level  of  the  shopping  center  across  the  street  from  the  sta8on.  

REMINDERS1. Please  have  60-­‐80  euros  cash  with  you  before  leaving  the  airport.2. Take  the  8me  to  use  the  restrooms.3. Plan  on  ge\ng  some  food  at  the  sta8on  in  Pisa.4. In  Empoli,  look  for  trains  to  either  Siena  or  Buonconvento.  If  the  train’s  final  des8na8on  is  not  Siena,  always  make  sure  that  it  shows  on  the  list  of  stops.    

Travel  Jme:  2  hours  approximately.  -­‐ From  Pisa  to  Empoli:  about  35  minutes.-­‐ From  Empoli  to  Siena:  about  1  hour  15  minutes.

It  is  not  necessary  to  validate  your  8cket  again.
