NX—Siemens’ flagship mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) solution.During the briefing, Siemens
focused on what they consider to be six major areas of differentiation:

To facilitate a productive modeling environment, Siemens is adding machine learning to the NX user
interface. Based on usage, NX will predict the commands users will most likely use next and present
them prioritized by applicability to task and usage criteria. Users can also personalize the command
list to their preferences.
In addition, Siemens stressed increased attention to model-based definition given the release of
ISO 10303 STEP AP242 Edition 2.”

What’s new in NX 12JT Export – Either as PLMXML and JT; or AP242XML and JT
• JT translator is capable of producing a PLMXML (*.plmxml)
or AP242XML (*.stpx) file with assembly structure
• JT file holds 3D geometry, PMIs, attributes etc. and
PLMXML/AP242XML assembly holds references to the
JT files and metadata
• Hybrid approach of AP242XML and JT creates a fully
ISO standard collaboration package recommended by
the Global Automotive Action Group (GAAG) for
Siemens PLM to support
• Teamcenter Visualization (with STEP translator) and
JT2GO capable of reading AP242XML and JT; or PLMXML
and JT

PDTec AG is a Siemens Foundation partner. Their product, PDM Connect, enables data package based interoperability betweendisparat PDM systems. Data can be anycombination of AP242 xml, Tc xml, PLM xml or foreign PDM schema. PDM Connect primarilysupports exchange of JT + AP242 xml in the automotive industry and is currently in production at major OEMs. PDM Connect doesnot convert geometric elements, only metadata including structures.
