ROTARY UPDATES

Environment Dep’t, Rotarians to plant1M trees nationwide

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the 10 districts of Rotary  International (RI) based in the Philippines recently signed an agreement for the planting of some one million trees nationwide, especially in places where there are Rotarians.

The DENR led  by Secretary Jose “Lito" Atienza, and the Rotary districts, represented by the different district governors serving for Rotary Year 2009 – 2010, signed the agreement at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center in Diliman, Quezon city in the presence of ordinary citizens, DENR employees and Rotarians.

Lyne Abanilla, a past district governor of district 3810 and the one who coordinated the agreement signing as part of her role as the chairman of the Public Imaging Resource Group of RI for its Zone 7, or the Philippine and Indonesia, said the tree planting activity gains a significant tone in view of Ondoy’s devastation.

The project, Mr. Atienza said, is an attempt to win back the Philippines from the forest denudation and environment pollution which has afflicted the country for decades now, and which is widely viewed by many as having been the cause of the great rain and floods spawned by Ondoy that killed nearly 300 people and displaced almost half a million residents.

* Entertainment* CONGRATULATIONS  REAL

GOOD GOVERNOR  BOYET LIMON!

THIS ONE’S FOR YOU

This one will never sell They’ll never understand I don’t even sing it well

I try but I just can’t

But I sing it every night And I fight to keep it inCause this one’s for you

This one’s for you

I’ve done a hundred songs From fantasies to lies

But this one’s so real for me That I’m the one who cries

And I sing it every night And I fight to hide the tears

Cause this one’s for you This one’s for you

This one’s for you, wherever you areTo say that nothing’s been the same

Since we’ve been apart

This one’s for all the love we once knew

Like everything else I have,This one’s for you

I’ve got it all it seems For all it means to me

But I sing of things I miss and things that used to be

And I wonder every night,If you might just miss me too

And I sing for you, I sing for you

This one’s for you , wherever I goTo say the things I should have said

Things that you should knowThis one’s to say that all I can do,

Is hope that you will hear me sing Cause this one’s for you

This one’s for you ,wherever you are….

President’s Message By SVP Susan Ringol

Thank God we are all safe and sound though some of our club members were also affected by the flooding.

As you all know many people were victimized by the typhoon Ondoy. In our own little way we extended our help the best way we can. We immediately responded to the call of the district and donated used clothes, sardines and biscuits for the flood victims. After a few days, PP Maricel called and requested that we do a relief operations in the Taguig area since it is still flooded and not getting much attention. I appealed to our club members and to my neighbors and friends for donations of used clothes, rice, canned goods and soap. With the support of my family and some neighbors we were able to pack 62 bags while PP Maricel & her family added around 30 bags more. So last Sunday, Oct 3, PP Maricel and I, together with our moms and a neighbor, trooped to Taguig and personally distributed these to the evacuees. They were very happy to see us and received our relief goods with much gratitude. We were very happy to see that they have risen above their situation with hope in their hearts trusting that people around them cares and will be there to help them. Our club members, PP Sessie, Rtns Rose, Ana & Au, also sustained great damage to their properties. It’s so depressing to hear this as it would take a while to rebuild what they have lost but I’m sure our merciful God has a greater plan for them. With these things happening around us, let us be more thankful being so blessed…and be more determined in serving those who have less in life for the Future of Rotary is in your Hands!
